The Dragon Comes With a Suitcase
If you listen to Rodrigo Duterte's now infamous rant against president Obama (start a minute 6) you might be forgiven for thinking it was Howard Zinn or Bill Ayers speaking, allowing for the accent. He spoke of the "lapdogs of America" who forget that "America has one too many [offenses] to answer for". He argued that the Philippines "inherited the [Muslim] problem from the United States" and since "everyone has a terrible record of extrajudicial killing ... why make an issue of it." He describes the massacre of the Indians, the oppression of migrants etc. as reasons for ordering the deaths of thousands proving, if there was any remaining doubt, that he learned the lesson of moral equivalence well.

From this Duterte concluded that he wouldn't listen to lectures from the SOB leader of such a country. It's almost as if he's been listening to Obama and Obama was hoist on his own petard. The Western left has the habit of preaching from a moral height while simultaneously describing its history as one unending crime. You've heard the teaching moments. "I live in a house built by slaves." "You didn't build that!" This whole country is stolen!

Say it often enough and someone will believe you. Somebody did. The trouble is you can't rise from the toilet to suddenly preach from a great moral height. It's possible to do one but not both simultaneously. Of course the liberal left can context shift and switch between sackcloth and ashes and the throne of moral superiority with the alacrity of Dr. Who. But Durterte isn't that nimble.

The clash between the two is tragi-comedy. Obama's planned teaching moment has complicated the problem of holding the Philippines against an expansionary China. The stark reality is that Duterte's Philippines is almost totally helpless against the Chinese military power and extremely vulnerable to Islamic terrorism. Who does Duterte think is keeping the Chinese away? The Philippine Navy? Nor will his hometown of Davao last very long against Islamic rebels without intelligence support and Sigint from the United States.
Maybe Durterte believes that USA and Obama are two different things - I know, I do.
...The Era of Hope and Change has been one prolonged act of suicide. If anyone had said that Obama would manage to alienate Israel and the Philippines, lose Turkey, pay Iran a hundred billion dollars, preside over the loss of a won war in Afghanistan, lose billions of dollars in military equipment to ISIS, watch a consulate burn, restart the Cold War with Russia, cause Japan to re-arm and go the knife's edge with China would you have believed it? If someone had told you in 2008 millions of refugees would be heading for Europe and that the UK would leave the EU after Obama went there to campaign for them to remain would you not have laughed?

BIFF sees Abu ‘diversionary attack’ in Davao bombing
[NEWSINFO.INQUIRER.NET] The bombing of the Davao City night market on Friday could have been meant to divert the Duterte government’s ongoing military operations in Sulu against the Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
, an official of an Islamic rebel group said on Monday.

"The terror group (Abu Sayyaf) has its back against the wall and had to divert attention from Sulu to Davao," said Abu Misri Mama, spokesperson of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters
...a MILF splinter group aligned with the Islamic State...
(BIFF), a breakaway faction of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

Mama said the deployment of additional soldiers and military hardware to Sulu to finish off the Abu Sayyaf could be the reason for the kaboom.

Abu Sayyaf members have been tagged in the series of kidnap-for-ransom and extortion activities in Mindanao victimizing local and foreign victims.

Denying any BIFF involvement in the bombing that killed 14 people and maimed 67 others, Mama said they had nothing against the government’s war on illegal drugs and terrorism.

Mama said the BIFF was sympathizing with the families of the blast victims, some of whom were from Maguindanao and other parts of Central Mindanao.

"We sympathize with you, hoping that the perpetrators are identified and punished," he said./

One Army battalion going after each Abu Sayyaf leader
[PHILSTAR] The military forces have matched each sub-leader of the Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Group with a battalions of troops after the rebels splintered into factions to escape, an official said on Monday.

Maj. Filemon Tan Jr., front man of Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), said the manhunt operations are occuring alongside offensive to crush the murderous Moslems, who have been blamed for the spate of recent kidnappings and beheadings.

"Each battalion is running after different group leaders and the operations there go simultaneously. It's relentless. It's just a matter of time as kung sino and makabunggo agad," Tan told newsmen here.

At least two military brigades with more than 10 battalions have been combing the jungles while additional forces are arriving in Sulu, Tan said.

He said additional three more battalions of troops are on their way to Sulu.

The troops are scattered at certain target areas to look for top Abu Sayyaf men, including big shots Radulan Sahiron and Alhabsy Misaya.

"The landscape (in Sulu) now, the Abu Sayyaf group splintered. Their purpose is to evade so that they cannot be traced," Tan said.

The military official said there is a possibility the Abu Sayyaf would be blending in with the civilian populace to escape.

The military official also said they will not hesitate to utilize batteries of cannons if there are areas that could be reached and if ground intelligence reports could confirm the presence of the Abu Sayyaf.

"If there is positive confirmation it will be bombarded with cannons as troops go along with the operation," Tan said.

Who's behind the Davao bombing?
[RAPPLER] Although the government declared a state of lawlessness, authorities have released little concrete information about the kaboom that killed at least 14 people in Davao City’s night market Friday, September 2, 2016.

On Saturday morning, September 3, radio station DZMM said the Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. grabbed credit for the blast in an interview with a self-proclaimed front man for Al Harakatul Al Islamiyah, the formal name used by the Abu Sayyaf.

Philippines' Duterte calls Obama 'son of a whore'
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte called Barack Obama
I am the change that you seek...
a "son of a whore" on Monday as he vowed not to be lectured by the US leader on human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
when they meet in Laos.

The acid-tongued Duterte bristled at warnings he would face questioning by the US president over a war against drugs in the Philippines that has claimed more than 2,400 lives in just over two months.

"You must be respectful. Do not just throw away questions and statements. Son of a whore, I will curse you in that forum," Duterte told a news conference shortly before flying to Laos to attend a summit.

#1  Actually from some photos of Obama's mother on the internet... that might not be a curse - rather a description of the situation.
esp. Marshall Davis estate photos.

#2  1) Well that meeting ain't happening.

2) Here's a fun exercise to confirm Google's bias - go look up this story by searching for 'Duterte Obama', then add 'whore', letter by letter. Marvel at the suggested third word, and the obvious one which never appears, even when you fully spell out 'whore'. 219,000 estimated results and this is not even autofilled.
