-Lurid Crime Tales-
Philadelphia: Life in a Soros Backed DA's Office...
I'd say this site is a resource in the same class as HeyJackass.com I'd also say Ralph Cipriano's trenchant style is worth a read.
[Big Trial] As a member of the District Attorney's Immediate Response Team, DeVonte' Douglass routinely goes out to crime scenes, hospitals, and the medical examiner's office when there's been a homicide, to aid victims' families.

Shortly before 10 a.m. yesterday, Douglass had an up close and personal experience involving a homicide in a case where Douglass was identified by police as the shooter. But according to Douglass's version of the story, he was also a crime victim.

It happened shortly before 10 a.m. yesterday, at the intersection of 31st and Lehigh Streets, adjacent to the Mount Peace Cemetery. At a time when most employees at the D.A.'s office are expected to be at work, Douglass told police he shot and killed Vernon Harris, whom he had met on Instagram, and agreed "to a sexual encounter in exchange for money," police said.

According to police, the two black males met at 27th and Cambria. Douglass, 28, of the 2900 block of North Bambrey St., got into a white Dodge Durango driven by Harris, 31, of the 1800 block of Harrison Street, and then they drove to the cemetery. After their encounter, which took place in the back seat of the vehicle, with the windows open, Douglass told police, Harris stood outside the vehicle and pointed a gun at Douglass, and demanded all his money.

Harris then placed his gun inside his waistband. But when Harris started reaching around the vehicle, Douglass told police that he feared that Harris was going to take out his gun again and shoot him. So Douglass drew his gun and shot Harris twice in the chest, killing him. Then he ran across Lehigh Avenue, pleading for someone to call police.

Coronavirus death toll is heavily concentrated in Democratic congressional districts
[PewResearch] The coronavirus outbreak has taken the lives of nearly 100,000 Americans. Yet since the start of the outbreak, the death toll has been concentrated in a just a few places – mostly large metropolitan areas, especially the New York City area.

The places hit hardest by the coronavirus outbreak – which have relatively large shares of ethnic and racial minorities and residents living in densely populated urban and suburban areas – are almost all represented by congressional Democrats.

A new Pew Research Center analysis of data on official reports of COVID-19 deaths, collected by the Johns Hopkins University Center for Systems Science and Engineering, finds that, as of last week, nearly a quarter of all the deaths in the United States attributed to the coronavirus have been in just 12 congressional districts – all located in New York City and represented by Democrats in Congress. Of the more than 92,000 Americans who had died of COVID-19 as of May 20 (the date that the data in this analysis was collected), nearly 75,000 were in Democratic congressional districts.

It would be useful to see a similar comparison with updated data.

This correlates with g(r)omgoru’s statements that the majority of Covid-19 cases in Israel are in ultra-Orthodox enclaves, so an examination of what both the Haredis and New York City have in common would be helpful.

Now, a couple of weeks after they starting wearing masks, their infection rate went down drastically.
Everybody's infection rate (fraction of positive test results) went down drastically once they started wearing masks..
I'm really perplexed - I mean, we've been told by the best scientific minds that masks are worthless. I couldn't be that the people doing the telling don't actually know that they're talking about?

#10  I mean, we've been told by the best scientific minds that masks are worthless. I couldn't be that the people doing the telling don't actually know that they're talking about?

A lot of them don't or object for whatever reason. Others who life has depended upon a proper mask may have something to say about it. Personally I'm not in the anti-mask group and, as said the other day, if the fellow in front of you had eaten Taco Bell, you'll be glad they had pants on.

A proper mask, worn properly, help. The wrong mask, not making a proper seal such as having a beards, poor mask discipline, or a combination of those or other issues dramatically reduce the benefit of a mask.

Those who died in nursing homes and other careless exposure, especially during this time frame, would have had masks, as well as the caretakers and staff, and yet there was contagion.

Biden's china paper mask is garbage and solely a prop to be 'Common Man' decoration.

Masks, however frail is effectiveness, for those who have succumbed to the fearmongering, benefit health wise as a placebo - and in that own way is effective...though not for the health reasons of preventing bug exchanges we are focusing on this topic.

Nurses, CNAs made up 36% of healthcare workers hospitalized with COVID-19 this spring, analysis finds
[Becker's Hospital Review] More than a third of healthcare workers hospitalized with COVID-19 from March to May were in nursing-related positions, representing the highest proportion of healthcare workers in the hospital with the illness, according to a new CDC analysis.

Healthcare workers accounted for about 6 percent of adults hospitalized with COVID-19 from March through May, according to the analysis of hospitalization data, and 36.3 percent of those hospitalized healthcare workers were nurses or certified nursing assistants.

The analysis, which examined 6,760 hospitalizations across 13 states, including New York, Ohio and California, also found nearly 90 percent of healthcare workers hospitalized with COVID-19 from March through May had at least one underlying medical condition, such as obesity. About 28 percent were admitted to an intensive care unit, 15.8 percent required invasive mechanical ventilation and 4.2 percent died during hospitalization.

Healthcare workers "can have severe COVID-19-associated illness, highlighting the need for continued infection prevention and control in healthcare settings as well as community mitigation efforts to reduce transmission," the CDC said.

The analysis does not indicate whether healthcare workers were exposed to COVID-19 in the workplace or community, and the CDC noted findings could represent an overestimate or underestimate of the proportion of healthcare workers among all adults hospitalized with COVID-19 from March through May, due to limited data. But the agency said it shows the need for community prevention efforts and infection prevention and control measures at healthcare sites.

#1  Let this sink in "36.3 percent of those hospitalized healthcare workers were nurses or certified nursing assistants. " (March through May) & 90% hospitalized had at least one underlying medical condition,

These are people directly in contact with the C-19 during the early more deadly strain days of January to May.

These are the people with gloves, Surgical/N-95 masks, paper apron gowns or HazMat suits covering and plenty of Hand Sanitizers.

In our family & Extended Family Groups, we have LPN's, RN's, Fire-EMS and LEO's. At last count, 5 tested positive for C-19, about 70%. But not one of them spent a day in the Hospital. All of these infections were likely POST-January to May C-19 Strain. Late July-September. Which was long after the more deadly early strain had mutated.

NOTE: Each of them had Family or Spouses all without any Cross contamination infections?????

Rugby findings on athlete biology set to shake up international sports
[TheHill] Earlier this year, World Rugby caused somewhat of a stir when its draft proposals to ban biological men from playing at the top level of women’s rugby were reported by The Guardian. The proposals were of particular interest because they were in sharp contrast to the rules of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which has loosened its requirements to focus on athletes’ testosterone levels. World Rugby was also the first international sporting federation to indicate such a move, which led to immediate criticism from some quarters that the proposals were "harmful" despite the fact the they were aimed at safeguarding players’ health.

Earlier this month, World Rugby released the final version of its Transgender Guidelines document, confirming that biological men would be barred from playing at the top level of women’s rugby. The reasoning was based on two primary factors that had emerged from the scientific research into the issue: first, the unacceptable risk of injury to female players; and second, the existence of significant performance advantages.

Rugby is a full-contact sport that involves frequent collisions, and there are particular risks to players’ heads and necks. The nature of the sport means that injuries are frequent and, very sadly, they occasionally result in life-altering disabilities. With that in mind, the conclusion reached by World Rugby should not be entirely surprising. However, the pioneering research that underpinned the final decision was compelling and is likely to send shockwaves throughout the sporting world.

Listen to the anguished cries of all the dying people
No one survives.

The rev's the most gracious host
So, let’s lift up your glasses to the ultimate toast
We’re at Jonestown

Jim Jones

But then first they had to put his final plans into action
He drank the brew and when it’s through he saw with satisfaction
Everyone died.
The deaths were both painful and slow

Drink up with the reverend Jim
Jonestown

NBA revenue for 2019-20 season dropped 10% to $8.3 billion, sources say
[ABC] The NBA's revenue dropped 10% to $8.3 billion for the 2019-20 season amid losses because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to financial numbers shared with teams and obtained by ESPN.

The balance of the finances included an $800 million loss in gate receipts and a $400 million loss in sponsorships and merchandise, sources said.

The NBA's losses included $200 million in deemed "net negative impact" from a monthslong splintering of a partnership with China in the aftermath of the Daryl Morey tweet promoting Hong Kong freedom a year ago, sources said.

If that is the case, that is a lot of dependency on people watching because sportsball gameday, and if they didn't show up for mega championship history time starring big market 1 and big market 2, then if I were an investor at any orbit - I'm getting penguin foot.

Science
Assault rations...
How long before the civilian disarmament complex declares that "No civilian needs to own assault rations?"
[Military.com] As the U.S. military prepares for future fights that may see units dispersed and on their own for extended periods of time, it needs new, lighter rations that will keep troops fueled for the mission.

The Army's Combat Feeding Directorate in Natick, Massachusetts is working on solving that problem now. Scientists are prototyping a "close combat assault ration'' containing an assortment of nutrient-dense energy bars that may augment the standard-issue meals, ready to eat -- MREs -- or even replace them.

"This is a ration that's designed to be extremely lightweight and compact," Lauren Oleksyk, team leader for Food Engineering, told Military.com in an interview earlier this month. "Some of the first prototypes will be field-tested in the near future. The bars that we're looking at for that ration are not necessarily full meal-replacement bars, but [we're] using a technology for drying and compression that would enable us to make a full meal-replacement bar if needed."

That moisture-reduction technology is good for a serious decrease in weight. In the lab, she said, Natick scientists have been able to reduce the weight of individual components by anywhere from 40-70%. The goal, she said, is to achieve an overall weight reduction of 40%, allowing troops to carry more food without increasing their combat load. A similar reduction in volume by compressing the packaging is also possible, she said.
The problem then will be figuring out how to similarly dehydrate the matching water rations, but SCIENCE!! can accomplish anything, if only the scientists are beaten hard enough.

#1  Sounds like they have re-invented de-hydrated food.

Next up: re-discover that any weight savings will be taken by the additional water that will have to be carried.

#2  Unexpectedly constipation hinders assault troop capability...

Although if you mixed in dried fruit you'd probably have the opposite problem...

#8  Hmm, the high fiber side effects mentioned above could have weapons value. Also, powdered booze, why not?

#9  Like Nguard said, nice if you have a ready source of potable water - which I'm sure they'll find when in a spread out and on your own scenario.

But yeah, reinvent hardtack, brilliant. I can hear it now, "Do you have any idea how much more water they will have to bring in order to eat, nevermind digest this food."

"Just have them dip it in their coffee then."

#13  Road Wheels and putting the beef stew can on the valve cover of the 1/4 ton for 2 minutes to melt the congealed fat at the top of the can? Seriously, 3 days and the constipation will be almost as uncomfortable as the first download of class one that finally happens

#14  The US Army only uses freeze dried for "arctic" rations -- the idea being that MREs might freeze and burst their containers -- and "assault" ration packs. This looks like an even more extreme version of the assault pack, and the "compressing the packaging" sounds like they're seeing what people actually in the field discard and repack.

#15  "Well we have a device that can extract water from dirt and air." " You don't seem to happy about it." , " Well It weighs 12 pounds and requires a 24 pound lithium ion battery pack."

#18  Mr. Soleimani, I was bringing the car around for our trip and I found a box which says, "Taco Bell" on it. Would you like to try something to eat?

Sure, let me have..hmmm..the Chalupa.
