Somalia: At least 20 killed in Mogadishu explosions, gunfire
[Al Jazeera] At least 20 people have been killed and 17 injured in kabooms followed by heavy gunfire in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu, according to police.

Plumes of smoke billowed into the air on Friday as at least two boom-mobiles went off near the popular Sahafi Hotel and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Initially, "two blasts struck the perimeter of the Sahafi Hotel along the main road," Ibrahim Mohammed, police official, was quoted as saying by the AFP news agency.

A third kaboom later hit the busy street, according to witnesses.

Although the attackers "failed to access the hotel, the blasts outside the hotel killed many people," police captain Mohammed Hussein told the News Agency that Dare Not be Named news agency.

Arabia
U.S. ends refueling support in Yemen war as pressure builds on Saudi Arabia
[Reuters] WASHINGTON/CAIRO - Saudi Arabia and the United States have agreed to end U.S. refueling of aircraft from the Saudi-led coalition battling Houthi insurgents in Yemen, ending a divisive aspect of U.S. support to a war that has pushed Yemen to the brink of famine.

The move, announced by the coalition on Saturday and confirmed by Washington, comes at a time when Riyadh, already under scrutiny for civilian deaths in Yemen air strikes, is facing global furor and potential sanctions over the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at its Istanbul consulate on Oct. 2.

The United States and Britain late last month called for a ceasefire in Yemen to support U.N.-led efforts to end the nearly four-year long war that has killed more than 10,000 people and triggered the world’s most urgent humanitarian crisis.

"Recently, the Kingdom and the Coalition increased its capability to independently conduct inflight refueling in Yemen. As a result, in consultation with the United States, the Coalition has requested the cessation of inflight refueling support for its operations in Yemen," it said in a statement.

Saudi Arabia has a fleet of 23 planes for refueling operations, including six Airbus 330 MRTT used for Yemen, while the United Arab Emirates has six of the Airbus planes, Saudi-owned Al Arabiya al-Hadath channel reported on Saturday.

Riyadh also has nine KC-130 Hercules aircraft that can be used, it added.

Yemeni forces, Saudi-led coalition launch 'vast' Hodeidah push
[Al Jazeera] Saudi-UAE-led military coalition and pro-government forces in Yemen

have launched a "vast offensive" to capture the strategic port city of Hodeidah from Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
rebels, according to the country's internationally recognised government.

"A military operation has begun and the national army forces have advanced towards the north and the western sides of the city of Hodeidah, progressing from all front with the support of the Arab coalition," the Aden-based government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi said in a statement on Friday.

"Fierce battles are taking place at these moments," it added.

Friday's statement came after several days of fighting as pro-government forces closed in on Houthi positions in the city centre.

At least 110 rebels and 22 pro-government troops were killed during battles in the past 24 hours, local medical sources told the AFP news agency on Friday.

The latest fatalities took the total number of fighters from both sides killed since November 1, when the battle for Hodeidah intensified, to 382.

There was no immediate comment on the government's statement from the rebels, who have been controlling Hodeidah since 2014, the same year they also seized Yemen's capital, Sanaa.

Turkey orders 103 soldiers arrested in Gulen probe: Anadolu
I guess they finally finished processing the last lot.
[AlAhram] Ottoman Turkish prosecutors ordered the detention of 103 soldiers with suspected links to the U.S.-based Moslem holy man accused of orchestrating a failed coup in mid-2016, state-owned Anadolu news agency said on Friday.

Police have carried out regular sweeps against alleged supporters of the preacher Fethullah Gülen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
since the coup attempt of July 2016, in which 250 people were killed. Gulen denies involvement.

In the latest operation, in Istanbul and 31 other provinces, police have so far detained 74 people, Anadolu said.

The 103 suspects, all on active service, include colonels and lieutenant colonels, it said, adding that an investigation had shown they had communicated over fixed-line and pay telephones.

Authorities say members of the alleged Gulen network communicated via payphones.

Peshmerga on alert for growing ISIS threat
[Rudaw] MOUNT QARACHOGH, Kurdistan Region - At a Peshmerga outpost on the top of Mount Qarachogh, near Makhmour, soldiers keep a close eye on ISIS bandidos Death Eaters known to be hiding out in caves nearby.

"Our intelligence has obtained knowledge that ISIS might attack us," said one Peshmerga on a foggy night on the mountaintop. "At night, ISIS controls all the villages at the base of Mount Qarachogh."

ISIS was declared defeated in Iraq 11 months ago and is supposed to be on its last legs in Syria. Yet intelligence sources estimate that the number of ISIS bandidos Death Eaters in Iraq has as much as doubled in recent months.

Some 300 ISIS bandidos Death Eaters are believed to be sheltering around Mount Qarachogh.

"There is a cave down the mountain. They are all ISIS," said a Peshmerga on watch duty. "They don’t come out during the day, hiding inside their caves. They are out at night."

The Peshmerga Ministry has intelligence that ISIS has reorganized itself in Iraq and their relations with bandidos Death Eaters in Syria have not been severed.

ISIS has capitalized on the rift between the Iraqi army and Peshmerga.

"Since the October 16 events and the coming of the Iraqi army and Hashd al-Shaabi to the region like Khanaqin, Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
Makhmour, and all the way to Shingal, we do not have any coordination with the Iraqi army and Shiite Hashd al-Shaabi," said Jamal Iminiki, Peshmerga chief of staff.

"Definitely there is a security gap from Khanaqin to Shingal, to west and south Kirkuk and Makhmour. This gap has not been successfully filled by the Iraqi army," he added.

The Peshmerga and international coalition carried out a joint operation against ISIS on Mount Qarachogh in July. They cleared 30 square kilometres of territory and destroyed caves and tunnels being used by the Death Eaters.

Makhmour is a disputed area that has been the security responsibility of the Iraqi security forces since the federal takeover of these areas on October 16.

PA fumes as suitcases of ‘gangster’ Qatari cash reach Gaza in bid to ease crisis
[IsraelTimes] While Israel gives approval for first $15 million to enter Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",-ruled Strip, Liberman slams move as ’capitulation to terrorism’; border festivities continue despite deal

Paleostinian civil servants formed long lines in Gazoo on Friday to receive Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
i-funded salaries, as part of efforts to ease tensions in and around the impoverished territory, even as the Paleostinian Authority slammed the envoy who brought in the suitcases of cash as a "gangster" and a "smuggler."

A total of $90 million is to be distributed in six monthly installments of $15 million, according to authorities, primarily to cover salaries of officials working for Hamas, the Islamist terror group that rules the Paleostinian enclave.

Some exited post offices, where the first payment was being distributed, to show off hundred-dollar bills before the cameras, after several months of sporadic salary payments in cash-strapped Gazoo.

"I came to collect $400, my salary for July," Fadi Abu Safia, a 35-year-old government employee, said at a post office in Gazoo City.

Mohammed Abed al-Hadi, 27, said he would be collecting 700 shekels ($190 dollars), "quite a sum considering the conditions we’re living in", as compensation for an injury in the border festivities.

The cash was driven into the Paleostinian enclave through Israel late Thursday by Qatar’s envoy to Gazoo, Mohammad al-Emadi, according to a government source in Gazoo.

Qatar has also said it would hand out $100 to each of 50,000 poor families, as well as larger sums to Paleostinians maimed in festivities along Gazoo’s border with Israel.

The Israeli-authorized money transfer appeared to be part of a deal that would see cash-strapped Hamas end months of often violent protests along the border in exchange for Israel easing parts of its blockade of Gazoo.

Despite the deal, there were still protests along the border Friday, although smaller than in previous weeks. In one case, demonstrators threw stones at the convoy of al-Emadi who toured the border area.

Reports said the Paleostinians also threw several bombs at IDF soldiers and two men tried to breach the border. The army responded with tear gas and riot dispersal means. At least one Paleostinian was killed and 37 Paleostinians maimed, the Hamas-run Gazoo health ministry said.

Senior Paleostine Liberation Organization official Ahmed Majdalani expressed the anger of the West Bank-based Paleostinian Authority over the deal.

Emadi had "smuggled the money" into Gazoo in suitcases like a "gangster," the official said.

"The PLO did not agree to the deal facilitating the money to Hamas that way," Majdalani, who is close to Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
, told AFP.

Such a deal harmed Egyptian efforts to reconcile Hamas and the PA and would allow the terror group to consolidate its control over Gazoo, Majdalani said.

In another Israeli-approved deal, Qatar has started buying additional fuel for Gazoo’s sole power station, allowing planned outages to be reduced to their lowest level in recent years.

Egypt and the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
have been brokering indirect negotiations for a long-term truce with Israel, with which Hamas has fought three wars since 2008.

Touring the protests Friday, Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar denied there was a deal with Israel, but said Hamas was working with the UN, Egypt and Qatar to end the blockade.

Palestinian infiltrates from Gaza, sets greenhouse on fire in Israeli community
[IsraelTimes] A Paleostinian man managed to breach the Gazoo border fence on Friday and infiltrate several hundred meters into Israel, setting on fire a greenhouse in one of the communities near the border before being caught, the army said.

The man was not armed and was taken for interrogation by the Shin Bet Security service.

The IDF initially believed that the greenhouse, in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council area, was set on fire by a flare fired by soldiers looking for the man; however, he told his interrogators that he had set the fire.

The army was investigating how the man managed to evade IDF patrols and get so close to an Israeli community. Details of the incident were barred from publication by the IDF censor until he was caught.

The incident came during protests along the border in which some 12,000 Gazooks participated.

Reports said Paleostinians also threw several bombs at IDF soldiers and two men tried to breach the border before retreating. The army responded with tear gas and riot dispersal means. At least one Paleostinian was killed and 37 Paleostinians maimed, the Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw,-run Gazoo health ministry said.

Syria Regime Attack Kills 23 Rebels in Truce Zone
[AnNahar] Syrian government forces killed 23 rebels near Idlib province on Friday, the deadliest clash to rock a buffer zone where a Russian-Ottoman Turkish truce is to be enforced.

The attack on a position held by the Jaish al-Izza rebel group took place on the edge of the northwestern province of Idlib, in an area due to be de-militarised.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, government forces moved in to take a high building held by the rebels in a rural area of neighbouring Hama province.

SDF, coalition capture senior ISIS leader near Raqqa
[Rudaw] Kurdish-led forces reported arresting a senior ISIS leader Thursday evening near Raqqa.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) operation was done in coordination with the international coalition against ISIS, the SDF’s media officer Mustafa Bali stated.

Further details, including the identity of the person captured, will be released at a later date, the SDF announced.

The SDF gained control of Raqqa, the former capital of the so-called Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, in October 2017 after months of fighting that left large portions of the city in ruins. They have struggled to secure the city, however, and ISIS sleeper cells are a daily threat.

The force suspended operations against ISIS in the Hajin area of the Euphrates River valley on October 31 after The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
carried out attacks against Kurdish positions in the Kobane region of Rojava, northern Syria.

According to a conflict monitor, the coalition and SDF have kept up their aerial bombardment against ISIS in the Hajin pocket, despite halting ground operations.

The SDF "escalated" shelling of ISIS positions while the coalition "continued intensive Arclight airstrikes," the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated on Thursday.

Coalition warplanes destroyed a number of ISIS supply routes and three command centres while the SDF destroyed a boom-mobile that was approaching their troops, the SDF’s media office stated on Friday.

The SDF have reportedly suffered many casualties recently as ISIS stepped up attacks, taking advantage of bad weather.

US airstrikes on Syria kill 26 civilians, mostly women, children
[PRESSTV] The US-led coalition’s Arclight airstrikes on Dayr al-Zawr,
...we’re more accustomed to seeing it spelt as Deir Ezzor...
eastern Syria, killed 26 civilians, including 14 children, on Friday morning, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

According to the war monitor, the civilians, including 14 children and nine women, were all members of ISIS families.
Ah. The mixup is explained — those aren’t civilians, they’re assigned human shields giving their blood for Allah and the cause.
The airstrikes reportedly targeted a ISIS hideout in the town of Hajin, located along the Euphrates River, south of Dayr al-Zawr.

The coalition’s raids earlier killed another seven civilians in the nearby village of al-Shaafa on Thursday, Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman.

Hajin’s civilians were also targeted by the airstrikes of the so-called military coalition’s fighter jets last Saturday, when 15 people, mostly women and kiddies, were killed.

Late last month, Syrian Ambassador to the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
Bashar al-Ja'afari confirmed at a UN Security Council meeting that the US-led coalition had once again used white phosphorus bombs against Hajin.
