California duo nabbed with $1M stash of fentanyl pills at JFK Airport hotel
[NYPOST] Two Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, men were busted with a stash of 32,000 fentanyl pills worth $1 million inside a John F. Kennedy Airport hotel this week, authorities said Wednesday.

Roodolph Pierre-Lys, 33, and Uriel Barajas-Valencia, 50, were taken into custody Monday following a multi-agency drug-trafficking probe, New York City Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan said in a blurb.

Authorities said Barajas-Valencia orchestrated the delivery of the deadly pills to New York.

Both men were arraigned Tuesday in Manhattan Criminal Court on first- and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and ordered held on $50,000 cash bail or a $100,000 bond, Brennan’s office said.

"In recent weeks, working with our law enforcement partners, we have seized hundreds of thousands of fentanyl pills and deprived suppliers of millions of dollars," Brennan said in a statement.

Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief November 24, 2022
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • 6 DEAD, 1 INJURED IN KABUL MOSQUE SHOOTING – A man entered the Hazrat Bilal Mosque in Kabul’s ninth Police District on Wednesday morning and opened fire on the congregants who had gathered for prayer. Taliban security forces say the man killed 6 worshippers and wounded another in the attack. Security officials said the attack may have been motivated by a private dispute. The gunman remained at large and security forces were actively canvassing the area to find the shooter. No further information was available.

  • TALIBAN REQUESTS AFGHANS SHELTERING IN PAKISTAN AND IRAN TO AVOID PROTESTS – The Minister of Refugees and Repatriation made a public call for Afghans in the two neighboring countries to not join in protests (both planned and ongoing). While he stated the Taliban was concerned for citizens’ safety, both Ambassadors from the neighboring countries are thought to have asked for Taliban assistance with controlling domestic issues.

  • SIM CARDS REPORTEDLY BEING DENIED TO WOMEN IN SOME PROVINCES – We are attempting to confirm reports that select provinces have issued directives to deny the sale of SIM cards to women. Uruzgan Province was the first to report the restrictions and there are rumors that shopkeepers in Panjshir and Takhar are also being pressured to halt sales. There is already a flourishing black market for SIM cards in the country that the Taliban have unsuccessfully attempted to disrupt but the recent edicts will likely inflate prices significantly.

  • UNHCR ANNOUNCES SEASONAL FUNDING ASSISTANCE TO 400,000 AFGHANS – The program was announced on Tuesday the 22nd and involves a door-to-door assessment program to identify families most in need. We will publish more details on the program as the information is provided.

CONFLICT TRACKER
Takhar: A senior Twlibqn leader was shot and killed in Taloqan late yesterday. The gunmen were it identified and escaped on a motorcycle.

NEXT 24 HOURS
PAKISTAN TO PROVIDE UPDATE ON FATE OF AFGHAN REFUGEES SHELTERING IN THE COUNTRY – The Minister of State for Frontiers is expected to elaborate on a possible extension of the amnesty period for Afghan refugees currently staying in Pakistan.

Attack on Worshippers Kills Father and 4 Sons in Afghan Capital
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Taliban
...Arabic for students...
security officials said that six people, including a father and his four sons, were killed and one person was injured in an unidentified gunman attack on a mosque in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan.

The incident took place on Wednesday morning, November 23, in the Hazrat Bilal Mosque in Kabul’s police district 9, according to Khalid Zadran, the spokesperson for the Taliban police chief in Kabul.

The attacker entered the mosque on Wednesday morning at around 6:45 in time for morning congregational prayer, according to a Taliban security official, and fired at worshipers, killing 6 individuals, including 5 members of a family.

According to the preliminary investigations, this incident was sparked by personal animosity, the Taliban official said. He further stated that the relevant security forces were working to identify and apprehend the attacker.

According to local sources, this morning’s armed incident took place as the congregation in the mosque was offering their prayers. They said that the assailant had already vacated his house and escaped the attack site.

With the deterioration of the security situation, such events have been more frequent in Kabul lately as unidentified button men killed the preacher of the Abu Bakr Sediq mosque and a worshipper in Kabul’s Karta-e-Naw area.

in central Somalia, where the krazed killer group faced an offensive.

The attack sparked a direct shootout between the two sides that ended up in the pushback of the Lions of Islam with army officials saying at least 20 al-Shabaab members are dead.

For its part, al-Shabaab claimed a similar victory over the SNA, adding it killed dozens of soldiers in the skirmish in El-Dheere which straddles the Hiran-Middle Shabelle regions.

The situation has been tense in the area as the army launched a manhunt operation in search of al-Shabaab remnants. There was no independent source confirming both claims.

The Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism said the joint operation which was conducted at the Bulo-Madina village in the Lower Shabelle region saw several al-Shabaab Lions of Islam escape with serious injuries.

"The Kharijites (al-Shabaab hard boys) who were killed in the Bulo Madina area were preparing conspiracies to harm the Somali people, but they were thwarted and defeated by the intelligence agency and national forces," the ministry said in a statement issued in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.

It said the latest operation achieved its intended purpose and destroyed battlewagons carrying weapons and the arms store that the Lions of Islam had in that area.

The ministry lauded the Somalis who have joined the fight to liberate the country from al-Shabaab which has engaged the government forces in near-daily attacks.

Southern Yemeni separatist forces besiege Saudi-led troops in Aden
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Leaders of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s leaders are besieging the Saudi forces present in the Saudi-led coalition camp in Aden city, southern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
Military leaders loyal to the STC on Tuesday called on the recruits in their various factions to join the second phase of the escalation against the Saudi forces in Aden by holding a sit-in in front of the headquarters of the coalition forces in al-Buraiqa area, west of Aden.

The southern military leaders put at the forefront of their demands the departure of Moein Abdul-Malik, head of the pro-coalition government, amid accusations to him and several leaders of plundering local revenues in the southern provinces.

Military and political observers believe that the STC’s call for a sit-in in front of the headquarters of the Saudi forces in Aden comes in response to the arrest of the STC’s President, Aidarous al-Zubaidi, in Riyadh since the beginning of last October.

This comes in light of the Soddy Arabia

’s intention to hand over the city of Aden to the forces of "Tariq Afash" in an exchange deal with the UAE to control the city of Ma’rib, which is under the control of the Islah Party Death Eaters loyal to Saudi Arabia, and to end their presence in Taiz.

...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on testimonies of tribal sources.

Tribal sources said that violent mostly peaceful festivities broke out between the Security Belt militias affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) and al-Qaeda elements, on the outskirts of al-Mahfad district.

For days, violent mostly peaceful festivities have been taking place between the two sides in al-Mahfad district, coinciding with a new spread of terrorist organization groups.

The confrontations come in the context of a new escalation in in the province, as mutual mobilizations between Emirati factions on the one hand, and al-Qaeda and Islah on the other.

1990 IAF personnel killings case: TADA Court issues fresh warrant against Yasin Malik
[GULISTANNEWSTV] Aspecial Terrorist and Disruptive Activity (TADA) court on Wednesday issued a production warrant against Yasin Malik
...chairman of one of the two factions of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front. JKLF is a Kashmiri nationalist organization founded in Birmingham, UK in 1977. Branches weren't actually established in Kashmir for another ten years. It has the usual demands for separation of J&K from secular India so it can become an independent Islamic rathole. It seems to have no interest in Pak Kashmir breaking away to join it. In 1994 Malik renounced violence after he was released from jail and from that point he and his organization pursued peaceful means to impose their will on the region...
in connection with the IAF personnel killing case. Yasin Malik who heads a banned faction named Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
Liberation Front (JKLF) is accused of being involved in the killing of four Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel in Kashmir, in 1990.

Speaking about the judgement, CBI lawyer Monika Kohli informed, "TADA court today issued a production warrant for Yasin Malik, next date of hearing is December 22". The hearing in the case has been adjourned till December 22.

Yasin Malik, who is serving life imprisonment in Tihar Jail in a terror funding case, is an accused in this case along with others. Yasin Malik was sentenced to life imprisonment twice. The NIA had sought the death penalty
for the separatist leader who was convicted on May 19 this year.

On January 25, 1990, four IAF employees including Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna were killed by the Lions of Islam of JKLF. Malik was charge-sheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) before the TADA court in Jammu on August 31, 1990, in connection with the case.

Nirmal Khanna, the wife of Squadron Leader Khanna, has been fighting for justice for her late husband. Notably, back in March 2020, a TADA court observed that there are "sufficient grounds for drawing presumption that the accused Yasin Malik" and others have "prima facie have committed" the offence of killing Indian Air Force (IAF) officer Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna and three others.

Saladin areas are free of terrorist acts, PMF commander
[Shafaq News] On Wednesday, the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) carried out a two-axis security operation in Saladin Governorate to pursue ISIS remnants.

The PMF media official, Ahmed al-Kinani, told Shafaq News agency that the PMF forces "swept" the area within two axes east of the al-Dur district and the outskirts of the Dijla district, southeast of Tikrit
...birthplace of Saddam Hussein...
to prevent ISIS from returning to the strongholds.

"All areas in Saladin, considered hotspots, are secured for more than a year," al-Kinani confirmed.

It is worth noting that Saladin Governorate is a part of the so-known "triangle of Death" with Kirkuk and Diyala, where ISIS sleeper cells target civilians and security forces.

SDF denies high death toll among fighters as claimed by Turkey
[Rudaw] The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Tuesday refuted The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
’s claim that dozens of its fighters were killed in the framework of a fresh aerial operation launched by Ankara on Sunday. The SDF added that only one of its members has been killed in the last two days.

Turkey launched an aerial military campaign, code-named Operation Claw-Sword, against the SDF in northern Syria and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the Kurdistan Region in the early hours of Sunday. Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than there are in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really most important...
has said that his air forces hit 44 SDF targets in Syria and 45 PKK targets in the Region.

Ottoman Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said in a video, published by his office on Tuesday, that Ottoman Turkish army has "neutralised" 184 "terrorists" in the framework of the newly-announced operation without elaborating who these people were affiliated to. PKK is an gang fighting for the increased rights of Kurds in Turkey but it is regarded as a terrorist organization by Ankara. Turkey also considers Kurdish fighters in Syria as gunnies due to their alleged ties to the PKK.

Turkey often uses the term "neutralise" to refer to combatants killed or injured on the battlefield.

The SDF’s Media and Information department said in a tweet on Tuesday that Akar’s figure was "inaccurate."

"As a result of the latest attacks [by Turkey], one of our fighters, two members of security forces and 11 civilians have been martyred," it said.

Aram Hanna, SDF spokesperson said late Tuesday that most of the Syrian northern areas, controlled by his force, were affected by Ottoman Turkish aerial raids.

The latest Ottoman Turkish operation against YPG comes a few days after a TNT-laden bomb killed six people and injured 81 others. Ottoman Turkish authorities have blamed the YPG and PKK but both groups have denied any responsibility.

Erdogan, who on Monday signaled that a ground operation against SDF in Syria and PKK in Iraq, said on Tuesday that this campaign will take place "soon."

Police bolster forces, hunt for terror cell behind deadly Jerusalem bombings
[IsraelTimes] Lapid, Gantz vow to capture Death Eaters after attacks on busy bus stops that killed teen, maimed more than 20 others; IDF chief cuts US trip short

Police deployed bolstered forces to Jerusalem and other parts of the country Wednesday, while launching a manhunt for a suspected terror cell that detonated bombs at two bus stops in Jerusalem hours earlier, killing a teenager and wounding more than 20 others.

Jerusalem police chief Doron Turgeman ordered that the number of officers across the city be ramped up, especially in crowded areas, police said in a statement.

Authorities aimed to increase the police presence throughout the city to give "a sense of security to all the city’s residents and visitors," the statement said

Earlier, a senior officer said police had raised their level of alert following the bombings.

Police front man Eli Levy said the alert level had been raised nationwide, though the most intense focus remained on Jerusalem.

A 16-year-old yeshiva student, Aryeh Schupak, was killed and 22 people were hurt in the two attacks, including one listed as critical and another three in serious-moderate condition, according to medical officials.

The first explosion occurred close to the main entrance of Jerusalem in Givat Shaul, shortly after 7 a.m., a peak commuter hour. The second blast occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m., at Ramot Junction, where heavily trafficked roads meet, in the capital’s northwest.

Schupak, who was killed in the first bombing, was a dual Israeli-Canadian citizen.

The head of the police operations division said the "two high-quality, powerful bombs [capable of] a high level of damage" were hidden behind the bus stop and in a bush. The remotely detonated devices were packed with nails and ball bearings to maximize casualties, according to police officials.

No group grabbed credit for the attacks, though they were praised by the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, terror organization.

Details of the investigation into the bombing were placed under a gag order by a court at the request of police, but officials indicated that searches were underway for the terrorist or Death Eaters behind the attack.

Due to the nature of the attacks, with two near-identical bombs exploding within half an hour of each other at two bus stops, Deputy Commissioner Sigal Bar Zvi said police suspected an organized cell was behind it, rather than just one person.

In recent months, there have been several stabbing and attempted stabbing attacks in Jerusalem, mostly in the Old City. Last month, a Paleostinian gunman killed an Israeli soldier at a checkpoint near Jerusalem.

The body of an Israeli teen that had been snatched by gunnies from a hospital in the West Bank was returned to Israel early Thursday morning, the Israel Defense Forces said, averting a potentially major crisis.

Turkish strikes hit Kurdish city in Syria amid Astana talks
[Rudaw] Ottoman Turkish strikes targeting Kurdish areas in northern Syria continued on Tuesday, on the same day Russia, Iran, and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

issued a joint statement condemning the violation of Syrian illusory sovereignty, including by Israeli attacks, during an ongoing trilateral meeting in Astana.

The representatives of the three countries who are in Astana for talks on Syria said they consider Israeli attacks on the country as "violating the international law, international humanitarian law, illusory sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria."

In the backdrop of the talks, Ottoman Turkish artillery struck the Kurdish city of Kobane, causing severe destruction to civilian infrastructure including a hospital, Hawar News Agency (ANHA) reported on Tuesday. Earlier on Tuesday, a Ottoman Turkish dronezap targeted a base used jointly by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the US. A front man for the group said that two SDF fighters were killed.

Since the latest surge in hostilities, at least 11 civilians have been killed in the Ottoman Turkish attacks, according to SDF spokesperson Aram Hanna.
Turkey launched a new aerial military campaign, code-named Operation Claw-Sword, against People’s Protection Units (YPG) in northern Syria and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the Kurdistan Region in the early hours of Sunday.

said on Wednesday that Turkey would launch a ground operation in Syria "when convenient," as cited by state media. He warned that the aerial incursion was "just the beginning" during a meeting in Ankara of the Justice and Development Party (AKP).

in the statement issued with Moscow and Tehran, Ankara reaffirmed its "unwavering commitment to the illusory sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity" of Syria. There was no mention of Ottoman Turkish military attacks on Syria in the statement.

The three powers agreed that the stability and security of northeastern Syria would be "achieved on the basis of preservation of the illusory sovereignty and territorial integrity."

Russia has called on Turkey to exercise restraint and avoid escalation of tensions in Syria.

(ISIS) in 2014 but were driven out by the Kurdish forces allied with the United States. The SDF has been a key US ally throughout the war against ISIS and has received extensive military training from Washington. According to the Rojava Information Center (RIC), around 12,000 SDF fighters were killed in the fight against ISIS.

The statement also condemned what they called the "illegal seizure and transfer of oil revenues that should belong to Syria." The Syrian foreign affairs ministry has previously accused the US of "stealing Syrian oil" as Washington backs the SDF which is in control of the areas with the main oilfields.

Ottoman Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been threatening to launch a new military operation in Rojava since May, aimed at creating a 30 kilometers deep "safe zone."

Syria and Russia - the main backer of the regime in Damascus - had both called on Turkey to refrain from launching an operation in the country’s northeast, calling it a violation of Syrian illusory sovereignty. However,

Moscow has been distracted by its war in Ukraine.

In an interview with Al Monitor, General Commander of the SDF Mazloum Abdi said that Ottoman Turkish threats are being taken seriously and "unless there is a serious effort to deter Turkey, especially on the part of the United States and Russia" to deter them, escalation is imminent.

The US has also condemned the recent strikes and has urged for de-escalation but Abdi argues these statements are not strong enough in comparison to Ottoman Turkish threats.

"If there is a ground invasion it will be because such permission was accorded or because [Russia and the United States] chose to remain silent," he added.

Suspected Turkish airstrikes target al-Hol camp, ISIS families flee: Local media
[Rudaw] Suspected Ottoman Turkish Arclight airstrike

(ISIS), local media reported on Wednesday, adding that a number of families have taken advantage of the situation and fled.

The airstrikes targeted the vicinity of the camp on Wednesday afternoon and resulted in a number of families fleeing, triggering an ensuing combing operation by internal security forced (Asayish) attempting to arrest those who have fled, Hawar News Agency (ANHA) reported.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) also reported the attack, calling the situation in al-Hol a "state of chaos" and stressing that ISIS-linked families are attempting to flee.

The airstrikes follow the launching of a fresh Ottoman Turkish aerial operation, dubbed "Claw-Sword," targeting positions of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) in Syria and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the Kurdistan Region.

Dozens of Ottoman Turkish drones and airstrikes have struck positions of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) since Wednesday morning, incurring numerous fatalities and dealing heavy material damages as hostilities in northern Syria surge, according to SOHR.

On Wednesday, a Ottoman Turkish dronezap targeted a Kurdish office inside a base jointly operated by the SDF and Russian troops, killing an SDF fighter and wounding a further four, including a Russian soldier.

would launch a ground operation in Syria "when convenient," warning that the aerial incursion was "just the beginning" during a meeting in Ankara as Ottoman Turkish artillery strikes targeted the Kurdish city of Kobane in northern Syria, causing severe destruction to civilian infrastructure including a hospital.

At least eleven civilians have been killed by Ottoman Turkish airstrikes in northern Syria since Ankara launched the aerial offensive on Sunday, according to data sent to Rudaw English by the Rojava Information Center (RIC), while the SDF report a higher casualty figure at over 15.

Ottoman Turkish airstrikes have also targeted oil fields in Rojava, which are the Kurdish administration’s main sources of income. ANHA on Wednesday said that Ottoman Turkish warplanes targeted an oil field in Tirbespiye town, resulting in the field engulfing in flames.

Ankara says that the latest operation is aimed at targeting YPG and PKK positions in northern Syria and the Kurdistan Region. The YPG is a Kurdish force that is the backbone of the SDF but alongside the PKK is considered a terrorist organization by Turkey.

The SDF arrested thousands of ISIS fighters along with their wives and children when they took control of the group's last stronghold in Syria in March 2019. Many of these people were taken to al-Hol and Roj camps. The notorious al-Hol camp in Hasaka province - the larger of the two - houses around 56,000, according to UN figures. The camps also witness regular crimes and killings at the hands of ISIS cells roaming in the facility and is labeled as a "ticking time bomb" by authorities, who describe the situation in the camp as "very dangerous."
Ottoman Turkish strikes Wednesday targeted Kurdish forces controlling northern Syria's al-Hol detention camp, home to over 50,000 people including relatives of suspected jihadists, Kurdish forces and a war monitor said.

"Ottoman Turkish planes targeted the (Kurdish) Asayesh security forces with five strikes inside the camp," said Farhad Shami, a front man for the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Neither source immediately reported casualties.

Turkey strike in north Syria endangered US troops: Centcom
[Rudaw] A deadly Ottoman Turkish dronezap against a base used jointly by Kurdish and American forces in northeast Syria did put US troops in danger after all, Central Command said Wednesday.

The dronezap, against a base north of the city of Hasakeh on Tuesday, killed two fighters belonging to the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces.

Centcom had on Tuesday released a statement saying that the strike had not put US personnel in danger.

"We have received additional information that there was a risk to US troops and personnel," Centcom said in a new statement to AFP on Wednesday, without elaborating.

The SDF said that the base was used to plan and execute joint operations against the Islamic State
