Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief November 27, 2022
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • TALIBAN CONTINUE TO CLAIM DAIKUNDI WAS AN ANTI-INSURGENCY OPERATION – The spokesman for the Ministry of the Interior has claimed the deaths reported in Daikundi resulted from a stabilization operation to quell a rebellion in the Province. UNICEF released a statement earlier that confirmed that 4 children were among those killed and few Afghan observers believe the Taliban’s claims. Several international bodies are considering launching investigations into the matter but it is not clear what would be the result of any investigations.

  • LAND REFORM CONTINUES, SERVES DUAL PURPOSES – The Taliban have continued cases against people accused of usurping land over the past twenty years in Afghanistan. In some cases, the cases seem to be honest attempts to recover land that was illegally acquired by leaders and business persons under the former regime. In other cases, land and property that is owned by ethnic/religious minorities have been seized. However, the redistribution of houses and farmland to nomadic tribes who assisted the Taliban during their fight against the former regime and international forces is seen as a means of ‘reprogramming’ the demographics in the country into a model more favorable to the Taliban’s control.

  • KARZAI CLEARED TO LEAVE FOR GERMANY SOON – Several reports had been published by media sites that former President Hamid Karzai was seeking medical treatment in Germany. Some had suggested he had already left, while others claimed the Taliban would not allow him to depart. His press attache has now stated that he intends to travel in early December and will return to Afghanistan after a minor procedure is conducted.

CONFLICT TRACKER
Kunar: A roadside mine was detonated in the Manogi district yesterday. The blast injured 3 non-combatants. Eyewitnesses say a Taliban vehicle had recently passed by the mine before it detonated when a privately owned vehicle was next to it. No group has claimed responsibility.

NEXT 24 HOURS
ADDITIONAL SECURITY FORCES HEADING TO DAIKUNDI – Anticipating a potential challenge to local Taliban security forces in the Province, additional Taliban fighters are expected to arrive from Kandahar and Kabul over the next several days. Sources with the Ministry of Defense have already stated that security patrols have been doubled since the reports of the incident were made public. Some of the patrols have reported sniping along their routes but no casualties have resulted. At-risk Afghans in the Province should expect additional scrutiny of vehicles and individual searches at checkpoints which will focus on their phones.

Africa Horn
Senior Al-Shabaab leader dies of wounds in Somalia
[Garowe] An al-Shabaab
...... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa...
holy man believed to have suffered critical wounds last month around the border of Lower and Middle Shabelle has finally died, reports from Jilib town indicate, in what could be significant progress in the fight against the turbans.

The federal government of Somalia claims Mohammed Hassan Omar, alias Abu Abdirahman was killed in the Jubba region where he has taken refuge following the serious injuries he sustained last month. Omar was a notorious Death Eater who radicalized many youths.

The al-Shabaab turbans, who are fighting to control Somalia, have since confirmed the death of their former Banadir leader in a statement but said that Omar had succumbed to an unspecified illness. He has been unwell for some time, the statement noted.

"The Sheikh has been suffering from illness for the last few days, and he passed away last Thursday in Jilib district in the Islamic province of Juba," the al-Shabaab proxy media outlets reported the death, which is a big blow to them given the strategic roles he was playing.

So far, Abu Abdirahman is the second senior al-Shabaab official to be assassinated in the last two months. Hundreds of villages have been liberated by government forces and local clan militia forces during the recent offensive, with over a thousand Death Eaters killed in the last six months.

Last month, the government announced the death of Abdullahi Nadir, who was a co-founder of the group following a US Africa Command-coordinated Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
. Nadir was at one point believed to be next in line of succession due to illness facing the current leader Abu Ubaidah.

The al-Shabaab Death Eaters have lost significant ground in the last three months with the government saying over 600 Death Eaters have been killed. In return, the Death Eaters have been waging retaliatory attacks mainly targeting innocent civilians across the country.

Somalia says more than 100 al Shabab militants were killed in an air strike carried out in El-dhere
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Garowe has details:
The fight against al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
is getting into an important stage following the latest operation within Middle Shabelle and Hiiraan regions where the national army with help of foreign troops and local militia have been camping to instill stability and order after years of mischief by the krazed killers.

State media reports that over 100 bully boyz were killed in the latest operation following an operation carried out by the members of the Somali National Army [SNA], African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS], the US Africa Command, and the local militia, who have been instrumental in the war.

Deputy Information Minister Abdirahman Al Adala said the bully boyz were killed during an operation conducted between Middle Shabelle and Hiiraan regions in El-Dhere area where the bully boyz have been synonymous for several months now. This is the highest single loss inflicted on the bully boyz in as many months.

"Over 100 Khawarij holy warriors including 10 ringleaders killed in planned op conducted by the national army, locals, and international security partners in El-Dhere area at the border of Middle Shabelle and Hiran regions," said Deputy Information Minister Abdirahman Al Adala at the press.

The crackdown has yielded a lot of success in recent weeks with Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre revealing that over 500 bully boyz have been killed since the operation to weed out the bully boyz was hatched about three months ago across the country.

News about the death of al-Shabaab bully boyz came as the group published purported pictures of vehicles and weapons that it claims its fighters seized following Friday’s attack on Qaayib village in the central Galmudug
...a semiautonomous region in central Somalia, bordering Puntland on the north. Galmudug is not trying to obtain international recognition as a separate nation, but rather considers itself autonomous within the larger Somali federalism, for what that's worth...
State.

Despite the purported achievement by the al-Shabaab, regional officials and locals reported that government forces remain in control of Qaayib. The town has been the center of heavy fighting between the bully boyz and members of the Somali National Army for the last month according to officials.

Elsewhere, with respect to the recent inter-clan fighting, one of the main clans in Middle Shabelle agrees to support peace after a visit by Hassan Mohamud. Adale Declaration calls for support for the fight against "khawarij," stabilizing recovered areas, removing roadblocks, avoid "fitnah" by "khawarij."

The government is determined to completely eliminate al-Shabaab bully boyz with assistance from the local militia. The government has also given a stern warning to local business owners over alleged support given to the bully boyz either willingly or through extortion.

Arabia
Southern Yemeni separatist commander assassinated in Shabwah
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] A military commander affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) was killed and two of his escorts were maimed in a kaboom in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
’s southeastern Shabwah province.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal on Saturday, based on testimonies of local sources.

According to sources, an improvised bomb went kaboom! and targeted a military pickup vehicle carrying the commander of the second battalion in the first brigade of Shabwah Defense Forces, Salem al-Jabwani, near a security checkpoint in the district of "As Said".

Sources added that the earth-shattering kaboom led to the death of Jabwani and the injury of two of his escorts.

The attack took place hours after nine STC forces were maimed in a similar attack in al-Mahfad district in southern Yemen’s Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...
province.

It is noteworthy that the Islah Party vowed last August, to make the governorates of Shabwah and Abyan an inferno for the STC’s forces in response to their control of the two governorates and the expulsion of Islah gunnies from them.

Iraq
PKK kills three Turkish soldiers in the Kurdistan Region Friday, Turks kill 7 PKK Saturday
[Rudaw] Ottoman Turkish defence ministry on late Friday announced the death of three of its soldiers by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the Kurdistan Region.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
launched the code-named Operation Claw-Lock against the PKK in Duhok province’s mountainous areas in April.

The Ottoman Turkish defence ministry said late Friday that the PKK fighters shot up its soldiers in an area covered by the offensive. Three soldiers, including a lieutenant, were killed and another one was injured.

Ankara has confirmed the death of dozens of its soldiers in the Kurdistan Region by the PKK since April.

The ministry claimed on Saturday that, in what seemed to be a retaliatory attack, they neutralised seven PKK fighters in the same area. Turkey often uses the term "neutralise" to refer to combatants killed or injured on the battlefield.

PKK has not commented on either incidents.

Ankara launched Operation Claw against the PKK in Khakurk in May 2019. This was followed by Operation Claw-Tiger in June 2020. The third edition of the offensive was a ground and air cross-border operation, dubbed Operation Claw-Lightning and Operation Claw-Thunderbolt, launched in April 2021. All of these operations focused on the PKK’s positions in the Kurdistan Region’s Duhok province.

On Sunday, Turkey launched Operation Claw-Sword against the PKK in the Kurdistan Region, mostly in Sulaimani province, and the Kurdish fighters in northeast Syria (Rojava) whom Ankara claims are linked to the PKK. Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than there are in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really most important...
has said that a ground operation could be followed "soon."

Syria's Hawl Camp Remains Subject To Escape Amid Repeated Turkish Strikes
[NPASYRIA] On Saturday, Jiyan Henan, an administrator in the Hawl Camp, said the camp witnesses a state of relative calm after an escape attempt by a group of families of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
s (ISIS) was thwarted by Internal Security Forces of North and East (Asayish).

In a statement made to North Press, Henan said, "The camp witnessed an activity by ISIS cells following the Ottoman Turkish air raids against pickets in charge of the camp’s security."

On Friday, security forces aborted an escape from the camp by a group of ISIS women and minors from the camp’s Foreigner Sector after crossing the fence encircling the camp, a military source told North Press.

The source noted while some were arrested others returned to the camp to avert arrest.

The same source denied that festivities took place between the security forces and the group which sought to escape the camp as a number of media outlets claimed.

On Wednesday, a Ottoman Turkish warplane hit three positions on the outskirt of Hawl Camp in which eight SDF-linked members, responsible for watching and guarding the camp, were killed.

The Ottoman Turkish strike created a state of disorder in the camp as six people sought to escape but they were caught by security personnel of the camp.

The administrator said a number of local and international NGOs still suspending their missions in the camp.

Henan warned that "the situation could become worse in case of a mass escape from the camp. Security forces will not be able to contain the situation then."

The Hawl Camp, some 45 km distance to the east of the city of Hasakah, is home to 56.561 people with Iraqi refugees making the vast majority of the camp’s residents. It also houses thousands of Syrian IDPs, mostly from areas in west of the Euphrates which are now under Syrian government forces and pro-Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
militias, as well as ISIS families of foreign nationalities.

With murders and kidnappings taking place regularly, the camp is described as the most dangerous world-wide. Given the enormous number of ISIS families there, the camp is like a ticking bomb that could explode at any moment.

On the background of Ottoman Turkish aerial campaign that targeted a post in charge of protecting the camp, more than 15 local and international NGOs suspended their mission in the camp on Thursday.

Months ago, ISIS sleeper cells sought to attack the camp, but the attempt fell to the ground thanks to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Asayish.

Locals voice their concerns over any probable camp escape by families and children of ISIS.

During former security operations, the SDF found trenches dug under tents used by ISIS sleeper cells to be used as hideouts, training places, sharia law tribunals, torture and murder in the camp.

Weapons, ammunitions, bombs, communication devices and bullets were seized all underground.

The probability of a Ottoman Turkish invasion of northeast Syria rises locals’ fears over potential dangers implied in the camp.

The SDF has suspended its operations against ISIS citing its preoccupation with the recent Ottoman Turkish bombardment and shelling against the region.
