The appeal by Amnesia Amnesty International comes as the Taliban group made a plea to international organizations to intervene and stop the Afghan government to implement death sentences.
In its latest release titled "Afghanistan: The death penalty is no solution to terrorism’ Amnesia Amnesty International said ’Afghanistan’s President Ashraf Ghani should not sign execution orders."
"By hastily seeking retribution for the horrific bombings that killed over 64 people in Kabul ...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either.... last month, the government of Afghanistan’s plans to execute those convicted of terror offences will neither bring the victims the justice they deserve, nor Afghanistan the security it needs," said Jameen Kaur, Amnesia Amnesty International’s Deputy Director for South Asia.
"There is no evidence that the death penalty serves as a deterrent, and there are fears that it will only serve to perpetuate a cycle of violence without tackling any of the root causes."
"The death penalty is a cruel and irreversible punishment. In a context where there are very serious questions about the fairness and transparency of the legal process, the use of torture by security forces to extract confessions, and the narrow window for appeal, there is a particular risk of mistakes being made that cannot be corrected." That argument seems odd to me. Murder is a cruel and irreversible crime. Captured terrorists, especially Anis Haqqani, aren't high on my concerns about fairness and transparency.

In his remarks during at the European Conference ’the way ahead for anti-corruption in Afghanistan’ President Ghani said there are certain cases and factors which are keen to weaken the government institutions.
President Ghani further added that corruption a legacy of the past and hundreds of cases are lying intact in the Attorney General office.
"We have re-organized the Council on Governance & Justice to become a High Council for Governance, Law, and Anti-corruption," Ghani said, adding that "Our excellent Chief Justice and newly confirmed Attorney General are already breathing new life into justice sector reform."

The latest alert followed a day after the US Embassy warned regarding a possible suicide and coordinated attack or kidnapping in the 10th police district of the city.
"An attempted kidnapping occurred in Kabul on May 2, 2016 targeting several expatriates including a U.S. citizen. The U. S. Embassy Kabul reminds U.S. citizens that the threat of kidnapping and hostage taking continues to be very high," an online statement by US Embassy said.
The statement further added "There are no further details regarding the targets, timing, or method of any planned kidnappings."
"The U.S. Embassy continues to take this threat seriously and advises U.S. citizens to take appropriate security precautions and to avoid predictable travel patterns within Afghanistan," the statement said.
This comes as the anti-government armed Death Eater groups have been attempting to carry out attacks in capital Kabul during the recent weeks which comes after the Taliban group announced its spring offensive.
Earlier, an Australian citizen serving as an aid worker was kidnapped by unknown gunnies from Jalalabad city, the quiet provincial capital of eastern Nangarhar The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country.. province.
No group including the Talibs has so far grabbed credit behind the kidnapping of the aid worker.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] An Afghan film actress Marina Golbahari has been forced to seek asylum in La Belle France after receiving death threats from the hardliners in Afghanistan for her role as an actress.
The death threats against Golbahari reportedly intensified after appearing in a film festival in South Korea where she was pictured with head uncovered, drawing the attention of the hardliners.
According to Agence La Belle France-Presse, Golbahari arrived in La Belle France for a film festival five months and could not return to Afghanistan as threats against her and her husband grew further.
Golbahari’s husband Noorullah Azizi told AFP "We never thought of staying. We hardly packed anything."
The actress appeared in the Gloden Globe-winning film Osama when she was only 10-year-old, thrusting her to stardom as the heroine.
Her role in the film was depict the a girl who had disguised herself as a boy during the Taliban’s rule so that she can walk freely on the street.
Osama’ was a hit and made Golbahari, now 24, an instant star in her country. "Cinema is my life," she said. "In a film, I can say everything about my people."
The threats against Golbahari reportedly increased after the imam in her local village of Kapisa announced that she should not return, which Azizi said translates as: "She must die."
The couple was forced to move from house to house due to growing threats followed by a failed grenade attack on her house.
She travelled to La Belle France together with her husband in mid-November to appear in a festival in Nantes in western La Belle France. But their families, who had also received death threats, told them they had to stay away.
The couple have found themselves in a decrepit shelter for asylum seekers in Dreux, 90 kilometres outside Gay Paree. Their small green and violet room looks out over a roof full of discarded rubbish.

(NDS) Chief.
According to a statement by the Office of the President, General Abdullah has been assigned for the post of acting minister of defense.
The statement further added that Stanikzai will also serve as Ministerial Adviser to President Ghani.
Abdullah Khan was previously serving as the Chief of Staff in Afghan National Army Chief of Staff office before he was assigned as acting minister of defense.
This comes as President Ghani promised to introduce the nominees for Minister of Defense and National Directorate of Security (NDS) Chief during a gathering in the Afghan parliament late last month.
Ghani made the promise during a gathering in the Afghan parliament while announcing the government’s stance regarding the peace efforts and fight against corruption.

ANKARA: Turkey is ready to send ground forces into Syria to tackle Daesh militants if need be, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said, as two more rockets fired by the group struck a border town.
President Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey would respond to all rockets fired by Daesh and vowed that the radicals would suffer greater losses if they continued their aggression.
Turkey has argued the case for ground troops in Syria in the past, although it has always said it would not mount a unilateral incursion unless its national security was threatened.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Davutoglu said United Nations resolutions give Turkey “legitimacy” to enter Syria to fight Islamic State and others in the name of self-defense.
“If ground troops become vital, we would send them. We are ready to take all measures inside and outside Turkey to defend ourselves,” he said in the interview late on Tuesday. Last I heard, Turkey has four combat brigades ready to go.

's Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Thursday announced he was stepping down as ruling party chief and premier, in a shock resignation set to further boost President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him... 's growing powers.
Divisions between Davutoglu and Erdogan that had been rumoured for months erupted into the open on Wednesday, with the two leaders holding crisis talks at the presidential palace that failed to resolve the conflict.
Davutoglu said after a central executive committee of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) that the party would hold an extraordinary congress on May 22 and he would not be standing for a new mandate.
This means that the premier -- who has headed the government since 2014 when Erdogan moved from the premiership to the presidency -- will step aside from his twin jobs of AKP boss and prime minister.
According to the conventions of the AKP -- a party co-founded by Erdogan to bring Islam into the mainstream of Turkey's secular politics -- the party chairman and head of government are the same person.
"I don't think I will be a candidate in the next congress in the current circumstances," Davutoglu said.
He added that after "consultations with friends", including Erdogan, "I have decided that it will be better to change party leader... for the continuation of the AK Party's unity."
In an emotional farewell statement in which he took no questions, Davutoglu gave a long description of the achievements since he became premier.
"There is no feeling of failure or regret in making this decision" to step aside, he said.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday voiced concern over refugees who lost their lives in the Aegean Sea, mainly by using unsafe vessels, such as plastic boats, Anadolu agency reported.
Now he tells us...
"So far, Turkey has rescued nearly 110,000 migrants attempting the sea crossing from Turkey to the Greek island," Erdogan said in his speech at a judicial congress in Istanbul.
Erdogan said that the refugee issue needed more attention from the international community.
As opposed to using the refugees as weapons to get what you want from Europe...
"The institutions which are responsible for establishing global justice are inactive," he said referring to UN.
Turkey currently hosts 2.7 million Syrian refugees, as well as hundreds of thousands from troubled states such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

[DAWN] Former chairman Senate Nayyar Bokhari’s son, Jarar Bokhari, slapped the special branch constable, revealed CCTV footage of the incident.
Arrest warrants for both father and son have been issued by Magistrate Jawad Hussain Adil, with a copy available with DawnNews.
Police has also lodged an application with a local court in Islamabad in connection with the incident.
"We are against VIP culture," said Islamabad Inspector General tariq Masood. He also urged other members of the police force to not bow to "pressure".
Leader of the opposition, Syed Khursheed Shah, remarked that the incident is being "needlessly" made into an issue.
"Bukhari is a PPP man and the Islamabad police is attempting to please the federal government," said Shah.
Islamabad district bar association also went on strike in solidarity with Bukhari, who is a lawyer by profession and an ex-president of the association.

Earlier, Nayyar Bokhari and his guard were trying to gain entry to Islamabad district courts when they were stopped by law enforcement personnel deployed for security.
The guards posted at the entry point asked to search the former senate chairman who arrived at the premises accompanied by his guards. The move led to a heated exchange, upon which Bokhari insulted the security staff present and one of the men slapped a special branch constable.
The special branch personnel deployed for security left their posts in protest after the incident.
The incident occurred at a time when the federal capital and Rawalpindi are on high alert and security agencies have been directed to maintain a strong vigil.

Iraq's prime minister has sacked the commander of special forces in Baghdad's Green Zone after protesters breached the fortified area over the past week, a military statement said late on Wednesday.
The removal of Staff Lieutenant General Mohammed Ridha is being seen as an indication of tightening security as authorities plan on taking a harder line against planned protesters over the weekend.
Iraqi analyst Taif Jany told Al Arabiya English that angry protesters, most of them supporters of Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, broke into the Green Zone and stormed parliament on Saturday in an unprecedented security breach after years of frustration with the political elite.
“The fortifications reinforce a literal barrier between Parliament and the people. Not only is the government's business conducted without our input, but we are also cut off by razor wire, guards, and enormous concrete fences,” Jany, Program Manager at Education for Peace in Iraq Center, told Al Arabiya English.
Iraqi premier Haider al-Abadi issued commander Ridha’s relief order and replaced him with Maj. Gen. Karim Aboud al-Tamimi, according to a statement from Iraq's Joint Operations Command.
