Afghanistan
Taliban using captured US weapons to launch attacks: report
[DAWN] The Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
in Afghanistan regularly use captured US weapons to attack government outposts, the US media reported on Wednesday.

Recently, American warplanes destroyed about 40 US-supplied Humvees that the Taliban had captured from Afghanistan’s military over the past several years, the USA TODAY newspaper reported.

It claimed that the report about this "recurring problem" was based on official statistics collected by the US and NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
forces in Afghanistan.

According to these statistics, Taliban fighters frequently capture US-supplied equipment and then disappear into the countryside. "The Humvees struck by American aircraft may only represent a fraction of the equipment now in Taliban hands," the paper claimed.

Libya Navy Spokesman: Dubious rescue NGOs should sail out of the Mediterranean
[Libya Observer] The front man of the Libyan Navy Force, Ayoub Qassim, called on the dubious NGOs' vessels at the middle of the Mediterranean to leave, saying they are profiting off immigrants colonists' suffering.

"Those NGOs are all about glittering and touchy slogans about human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
but infect they are profiting off the suffering of African migrants colonists." Qassim explained.

He also confirmed the statement of the Italian Prime Minister and Interior Minister on Tuesday who they told news agency Aki that certain so-called humanitarian NGOs' vessels are still making money out of the migrants colonists' suffering.

"Those NGOs have secret plans. They want to empty Africa from the youth and they want to steal the continent's fortunes. In the past, tens of immigrants colonists used to make to Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and tens others used to be reported missing in the sea, but today: tens of thousands arrive in Europe and other tens of thousands drown trying. This is nonhuman." Qassim indicated.

He also said that they previously warned the whole world, EU and Italia in particular, of the fact that those NGOs aim at making money and taking power, thus we called for stopping their operation in the Mediterranean and for appointing coastguards from the countries overlooking the sea.

"We don't need dubious NGOs with no clear ideologies." Qassim remarked.

Italia's Interior Minister, Matteo Salvini, told news hounds that they were considering more restrictions so human traffickers can fall short of support.

71 Red Cross staffers evacuated from Yemen due to insecurity
[PRESSTV] The International Committee of the Red Thingy (ICRC) has evacuated some 71 members of its team in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
amid rising insecurity in the war-torn country.

The ICRC said Thursday that the staffers had been moved out of Yemen to Djibouti because of security incidents and threats.

ICRC spokeswoman Marie-Claire Feghali said some 450 employees, including dozens of expatriate staff, remained in Yemen.

Feghali said the partial evacuations had affected many of ICRC’s aid programs, including surgical, water and food assistance missions.

She called on all warring sides in Yemen’s conflict to provide security guarantees so the agency can keep running its aid delivery and other programs.

"Our current activities have been blocked, threatened and directly targeted in recent weeks, and we see a vigorous attempt to instrumentalize our organization as a pawn in the conflict," the ICRC said in a statement.

The evacuation comes after unknown button men rubbed out an ICRC employee on April 21. The employee, a Lebanese national, was killed while traveling in his car to visit a prison in the southwestern Yemeni city of Ta'izz.

The ICRC statement said rising security threats to its personnel had made it effectively impossible to continue some missions.

"While the Yemen delegation has received numerous threats in the past, we cannot now accept additional risk less than two months after a gunman killed a staff member," said the statement, adding, "The security of our staff, who are being intimidated by parties to the conflict, is a non-negotiable prerequisite for our presence and work in Yemen and an absolute priority."

Putin says Russian military not building long-term in Syria among other things in annual AMA
An Nahar has more here.
[AlAhram] Russian troops will remain in Syria as long as Moscow thinks it's necessary, but Russia isn't building permanent facilities in the only Middle East country where it has a military foothold, President Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
said Thursday in his annual marathon call-in show.

The troops "will stay there for as long as it is to Russia's advantage, and to fulfill our international responsibilities," the Russian leader said during his annual televised call-in show. But, he added, "we are not building long-term installations there and if necessary can withdraw our servicemen quite quickly without any material losses."

Europe
Austria's right-wing government plans to shut down seven mosques and expel up to 40 foreign-funded imams
[Daily Mail] Austria said it could expel up to 60 Turkish-funded imams and their families and would shut down seven mosques as part of a crackdown on 'political Islam' that was described as 'just the beginning', triggering fury in Ankara.

Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said the government is shutting a hardline Turkish nationalist mosque in Vienna and dissolving a group called the Arab Religious Community that runs six mosques.

His coalition government, an alliance of conservatives and the far right, came to power soon after Europe's migration crisis on promises to prevent another influx and clamp down on benefits for new immigrants and refugees.

In a previous job as minister in charge of integration, Chancellor Kurz oversaw the passing of a tough 'law on Islam' in 2015, which banned foreign funding of religious groups and created a duty for Muslim societies to have 'a positive fundamental view towards (Austria's) state and society'.

'Parallel societies, political Islam and radicalisation have no place in our country,' Kurz told a news conference outlining the government's decisions, which were based on that law.

'This is just the beginning,' far-right Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache added.

Ankara quickly denounced the move, and Turkey's presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said on Twitter: 'Austria's decision to close down seven mosques and deport imams with a lame excuse is a reflection of the anti-Islam, racist and discriminatory populist wave in this country.'

Europe seeks exemption from US sanctions against Iran
[DAWN] Britannia, La Belle France and Germany have joined forces to urge the United States to exempt European companies from any sanctions the US will slap on Iran after pulling out of an international nuclear agreement.

In a letter dated Monday to US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, ministers from the three European countries said they "strongly regret" last month’s decision by President Donald Trump

to withdraw from the Iran deal.

Trump, who argued that the 2015 deal was insufficiently tough on Iran, has said sanctions will be imposed on any company doing business with Tehran.

Slovenia president to give mandate to anti-refugee party to form government
[PRESSTV] Slovenia will be another country in Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
slipping into the hands of anti-refugee parties as President Borut Pahor declares his intention to give a mandate to Janez Jansa of the anti-refugee Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) to form a government.

Pahor said after a meeting with former prime minister Jansa on Thursday that if no party could show by June 22 or 23 that it is able to form a governing coalition, then the mandate would be given to the SDS.

Jansa, attending in a joint news conference with Pahor, said his cabinet, if formed in the face of opposition by other parties, would be an inclusive coalition.

"We want a coalition which will work for Slovenia and will not focus on marginal issues," said Jansa, whose party won a June 3 election, taking 25 out of the parliament’s 90 seats.

The SDS has openly criticized European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
refugee quotas for members, vowing that it would abolish the system if it comes to power. The party also promised during the election campaign that it would strengthen security forces, cut taxes and speed up privatizations.

However,
denial ain't just a river in Egypt...
most other parties have refused to join a coalition with the SDS while accusing it of preaching hatred in Slovenia.

The center-left List of Marjan Sarec (LMS), which won 13 seats in the election to become the second largest party in the legislature, said Thursday it was still in talks with other parties to form a coalition. The party reiterated its staunch opposition to a partnership with the SDS.

The Grand Turk
‘You are my voice’: Kurdish leader campaigns from Turkish jail
[DAWN] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
’s leading Kurdish politician Selahattin Demirtas is facing not only President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
in this month’s presidential elections but the seemingly insurmountable obstacle of having to campaign from jail.

Demirtas, the former co-leader of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and still by far its most prominent figure, has been held since November 2016 on charges of links to outlawed Kurdish bully boys.

But the party chose him as its candidate to challenge Erdogan in the June 24 polls and, undeterred, Demirtas called on every member of the party to campaign in his name.

"I trust you because you are my voice and my breath," Demirtas wrote last week.

The ex-HDP leader was detained during the crackdown launched after the July 2016 failed coup which critics say went well beyond targeting just the plotters.

Demirtas, 45, is accused of being a member of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and making propaganda for the group blacklisted as a terrorist organization by Ankara and its Western allies. He risks up to 142 years in jail.

The former human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
lawyer won almost 10 per cent of the vote in the presidential elections of 2014, establishing himself as a serious rival to Erdogan.

The HDP then became the first pro-Kurdish party to enter parliament in June 2015 elections, maintaining its status as the second largest opposition party in a re-run of the polls in November that year.

"The fact that [Demirtas] is in prison is illegal and unfair. We wanted to show that we do not accept this injustice," said Demirtas’ campaign co-ordinator and deputy co-leader of the party, Saruhan Oluc.

Iraq
Iraq receives dozens of more T-90 battle tanks from Russia to boost ground force
[PRESSTV] The Iraqi military has received dozens of more advanced T-90 battle tanks from Russia under a major deal struck between Moscow and Baghdad last year.

The Iraqi Defense Ministry, in a statement released on Thursday, announced that it had taken delivery of 39 tanks, adding that the armored fighting vehicles had been distributed between two battalions of an army brigade.

The statement said that Iraqi military personnel had already been trained by Russian experts on how to operate the battle tanks.

Iraqi Army Chief of Staff General Othman al-Ghanimi said on February 19 that his country’s army had received 36 Russian-made T-90 battle tanks.

The T-90 is a third-generation Russian battle tank built upon the time-proven Soviet T-72 design.

It is among the best-selling tanks in the world, and known for its firepower, enhanced protection and mobility.

The T-90 features a smoothbore 2A46M 125mm main gun, which can fire both armor-piercing shells and anti-tank missiles.

The advanced tank also features sophisticated armor, ensuring all-round protection of the crew and critical systems, including explosive reactive armor and active infrared jammers to defend it from inbound rocket-propelled grenades, anti-tank missiles and other projectiles.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Palestinian resistance weakening Israel
If they keep repeating it, surely Allah will make the words of such pious men become true.
[PRESSTV] Years of Paleostinian resistance have weakened Israel and put the occupation force on the back foot, paving the way for great victories against the Tel Aviv regime, says a senior adviser to Fearless Leader of the Islamic Revolution
...Iran's doddering head theocrat...
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei
...the successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and the actual dictator of Iran...
In a video message to a Quds Day conference in the besieged Gazoo Strip on Thursday, Ali Akbar Velayati said that 40 years after Imam Khomeini's declaration of Ramadan's last Friday as the International Quds Day, Paleostinians have been able to push back Israeli occupation forces and "reverse the regime's expansionism."

"Although the past 40 years have had its own ups and downs, magnificent victories have been achieved such as the liberation of southern Leb, the liberation of Gazoo and Israel's constant defeats in wars of aggression against resistance forces in Gazoo and Leb," Velayati said.

'UK, La Belle France treachery created Israel'

The veteran Iranian diplomat noted that the Tel Aviv regime came into existence due to "treacherous" deeds by the UK and other Western nations 70 years ago, an event Paleostinians refer to as Nakba, or literally "the disaster."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Geagea Warns Against 'Implicating Lebanon in Adventures'
[AAWSAT] Lebanese Forces
A Christian political party founded by Bashir Gemayel, who was then bumped off when he was elected president of Leb...
Party Leader Samir Geagea
... Geagea was imprisoned by the Syrians and their puppets for 11 years in a dungeon in the third basement level of the Lebanese Ministry of Defense. He was released after the Cedar Revolution in 2005 ...
warned Hezbollah of engaging, alongside Iran, in any war that might break out in the region and considered such move as the "ruin of Leb."

In an interview with Asharq al-Awsat, Geagea noted that in the event of the eruption of a major Israeli-Iranian and US-Iranian confrontation, "which I believe is unlikely now", Hezbollah "will think a lot" before engaging in it, "because it is not a simple thing and we should have a clear position taking into consideration the country’s interests."

"No one should take part in any adventure because it is not the time for adventures. The region will be burning and we do not accept that anyone implicates the country and destroys it except in case of direct attack from any foreign country on Leb," he stated.

World failing Izadi women forced into sex slavery by Daesh terrorists: Charity head
[PRESSTV] The head of a charity group has criticized the international community’s inaction towards Izadi women, kidnapped by the ISIS Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
terrorist group and forced into sex slavery in Iraq and Syria.

Murad Ismael, executive director of the US-based Yazda advocacy, aid, and relief organization, told Rooters that about 3,000 girls from the Iraqi minority group still remain in ISIS captivity.

He said that many Izadi women and girls had been brainwashed or killed in captivity, while those who had managed to escape after years of enslavement and rape were left struggling to survive without an income or identity papers.

"Every inch of these women’s body and soul is broken," said Ismael. "And yet the international system is failing to embrace them and help them return to normal life."

"These girls, they just want to resume school, go back to normal. But they're not given any income or support so many of them have to be a father and a mother to their siblings, in addition to being a survivor," said the head of the charity group.

Ismael, whose organization dedicated to helping survivors, said, "We used to get over 100 rescued women and girls arriving to our office each month, but now we only see five or six."

"The pace of rescues is slowing down because many of these women have already been killed or brainwashed by their captors," he said.
