Democrats take first steps to censor conservative TV channels OANN, Newsmax, and Fox News
[American Thinker] In a shocking development in the ongoing censorship debate, two influential Democrat members of the House of Representatives have taken the first steps to challenge the continued availability of conservative channels Newsmax, OANN, and Fox News on mainstream cable, satellite, and streaming television platforms. Multichannel News reported on the story yesterday in an article titled "House Dems Pressure Distributors to Justify Carrying Fox News, Others."

California Democrats Reps. Anna Eshoo and Jerry McNerney have written to a dozen cable, satellite and streaming companies calling on them to better combat disinformation — which they principally identify as Fox, Newsmax and One America News Network (OANN) — and grilling them on what they plan to do about it.

Among other things, the letter to the companies by Eshoo and McNerney attacked the three conservative news channels as "misinformation rumor mills and conspiracy theory hotbeds that produce content that leads to real harm."

The Democrats' February 22 letter to Comcast, AT&T, Dish, Verizon, Roku, and the seven other companies demanded that they respond to a laundry list of seven intrusive and intimidating questions:

Florida official will direct offices to ignore governor's plan to lower flags to honor Rush Limbaugh
[Just The News] Florida Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services Nikki Fried issued a press release on Monday stating that she will direct offices within her purview not to lower flags to half-staff in honor of the recently deceased conservative talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh.

The announcement from the Democrat comes after Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had previously indicated that flags would be lowered to half-staff to honor the late conservative icon.

"What we do when there's things of this magnitude, once the date of internment for Rush is announced, we're going to be lowering the flags to half-staff," DeSantis said last week in West Palm Beach.

But Fried says that she will direct offices within her purview to ignore any such order from the Sunshine State governor.

"Lowering to half-staff the flag of the United States of America is a sacred honor that pays respect to fallen heroes and patriots. It is not a partisan political tool," Fried said in a statement. "Therefore, I will notify all state offices under my direction to disregard the Governor's forthcoming order to lower flags for Mr. Limbaugh — because we will not celebrate hate speech, bigotry, and division. Lowering the flag should always reflect unity, not division, and raising our standards, not lowering them. Our flags will remain flying high to celebrate the American values of diversity, inclusion, and respect for all."

Psaki Is Asked When China Joe Will Hold 'First Solo Presser', Her Answer Raises More Uncomfortable Questions
[Red State] It has been over one month since Joe Biden was sworn in as the president of the United States.

Since that time, Biden has made public statements here and there and held a few carefully controlled pressers with his handlers by his side, some of which included either reporters or questions that were pre-selected. He also participated in a predictably friendly town hall on CNN last week where he made some questionable claims that, of course, went mostly unchallenged by moderator and anchor Anderson Cooper.

One thing Biden hasn’t done in the last month, however, is to hold a solo press conference with the White House press corps. As the pandemic continues on and as parts of the country are continuing to dig out from a brutal winter storm, two reporters went against the grain during today’s White House press briefing with press secretary Jen Psaki and asked when they’d get a chance to ask Biden himself some questions.

CNN’s Kaitlan Collins got the first question in by first pointing out that "by this time in their presidencies, both President Trump and President Obama had held solo press conferences." She then asked Psaki if there are "plans for President Biden to hold a solo press conference any time soon?"

While Psaki confirmed he’d be holding a solo presser at some point, she told Collins an exact date had not yet been set. "He will hold a solo press conference," Psaki stated. "But I don’t have a date for you at this point in time."

When Collins asked if it would be this week, Psaki told her, "not this week, no."

Biden AG Nominee Merrick Garland Won't Commit to Keeping John Durham in His Role as Special Counsel (VIDEO)
[Gateway] Remember when the media said it would be the end of the world if Bill Barr wouldn’t commit to releasing the Mueller report?

Joe Biden’s AG nominee Merrick Garland wouldn’t commit to keeping John Durham in his role as Special Counsel during his confirmation hearing on Monday.

Merrick Garland also wouldn’t commit to releasing Durham’s report to the public.

In October of last year former AG Bill Barr appointed appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham as a Special Counsel tasked with investigating the Crossfire Hurricane investigation targeting the Trump campaign and administration.

Biden's OMB Nominee in Peril
[FoxNews] Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said Monday that she will not support President Biden's nominee to lead the Office of Management and Budget, Neera Tanden, dealing another blow to the odds of confirmation.

"Congress has to be able to trust the OMB director to make countless decisions in an impartial manner, carrying out the letter of the law and congressional intent," Collins said in a statement on Monday. "Neera Tanden has neither the experience nor the temperament to lead this critical agency."

Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., said last week that he would oppose her nomination, partially because of her "overly partisan" statements and tweets. Collins also voiced concerns over Tanden's Twitter account.

"Ms. Tanden's decision to delete more than a thousand tweets in the days before her nomination was announced raises concerns about her commitment to transparency," Collins said. "Should Congress need to review documents or actions taken by OMB, we must have confidence that the Director will be forthcoming."
That's two public defections. Maybe Joe will appoint her OMB Czar?
"Neera Tanden=accomplished policy expert, would be 1st Asian American woman to lead OMB, has lived experience having benefitted from a number of federal programs as a kid, looking ahead to the committee votes this week and continuing to work toward her confirmation," White House press secretary Jen Psaki wrote on Twitter after Collin's announcement.
I beg your pardon?
"I think we are going to find the votes to get her confirmed," Biden said.

Biden Energy Dept - Texans Can Freeze to Death in the Dark
[Post Millennial] Biden Energy Department used environmental regulations to block Texas from increasing available power before storm

The order, dated to Feb 14, noted that Texas Governor Greg Abbott "declared a state of disaster in all 254 Texas counties due to severe weather posing an 'imminent threat of widespread and severe property damage, injury, and loss of life due to prolonged freezing temperatures, heavy snow, and freezing rain statewide.'"

"The order specified increasing the priority of gas supplies to ERCOT generators. ERCOT's application also noted that the 'Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has indicated that it will provide enforcement discretion to generators in the ERCOT region that may exceed state emissions requirements during emergency conditions.'"
Only pandemics let you change the rules. And only for voting.
However, while ERCOT was given permission to increase the amount of power generated, the Department of Energy placed environmental regulations as a top priority ahead of maximizing power generation.
Deep Green Freeze, indeed!
"To minimize adverse environmental impacts, this Order limits operation of dispatched units to the times and within the parameters determined by ERCOT for reliability purposes," the order reads. "Consistent with good utility practice, ERCOT shall exhaust all reasonably and practically available resources, including available imports, demand response, and identified behind-the-meter generation resources selected to minimize an increase in emissions, to the extent that such resources provide support to maintain grid reliability, prior to dispatching the Specified Resources."

#1  Too late! Texas already has all the power back on line to anyone that out other than from local damage (like trees on lines and blown transformers).

Biggest problem is the damage from burst pipes, and the water plants slow to return to full pumping pressure. That in itself should be a good lesson in infrastructure protection.

Next up: legislature is prepping its once every 2 years session, and they will probably legislate proper standards for generation plants. Problem solved. No feds needeed.

#2  DC has enough problems of its own. Texas needs to fire or punish the top ERCOT and Oncor brass. While the elderly suffered these entities put their North Texas staff up in a 5 star hotel, the Omni Mandaley of Las Colinas.

#4  Not just Texans; with the rolling blackouts energy rationing a lot of people lost appliances as well, and if you have been appliance shopping since '2 Weeks To Flatten', you know that is a real problem.

#5  "Biggest problem is the damage from burst pipes, and the water plants slow to return to full pumping pressure. That in itself should be a good lesson in infrastructure protection. " It's also a good lesson in common sense. Even Texans know that water expends when it freezes, so that standing water in a pipe which freezes is prone to bursting, and also that city water supplies will probably need a local backup power source during a power failure. It's not rocket surgery.
