Tunisian-German couple in court over ‘ricin attack plot’
[DAWN] Duesseldorf: A Tunisian man and his German wife will stand trial from on Friday, charged with planning a foiled biological kaboom in Germany with the deadly poison ricin.

Sief Allah H., 30, and his wife Yasmin,
...who apparently recently converted to Islam...
43, were placed in durance vile

a year ago by an anti-terrorist squad that found 84 milligrams of the toxin in their Cologne

apartment.

The arrests likely prevented what would have been Germany’s first biological attack, said Holger Muench, head of the BKA Federal Criminal Police Office, at the time.

Federal prosecutors said the couple had "for a long time identified with the aims and values of the foreign terrorist organization Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
They decided in 2017 to detonate an explosive in a large crowd, "to kill and wound the largest possible number of people," said prosecutors ahead of the trial in Duesseldorf.

The pair had allegedly researched various forms of explosives before deciding on the deadly poison.

They ordered 3,300 castor beans over the internet and successfully made a small amount of ricin, a poison 6,000 times more potent than cyanide that can kill if swallowed, inhaled or injected, according to prosecutors.

Investigators also found 250 metal balls, two bottles of nail polish remover as well as wires soldered on lightbulbs.

Only the raid and arrests prevented "the production of a larger quantity of ricin and the building of an explosive," said prosecutors.

HAMSTER TEST
The couple were caught after a tip-off from the US Central Intelligence Agency, which had noticed the large online purchase of castor seeds, according to German media reports.

News weekly Der Spiegel has reported that the couple were believed to have already been radicalised when they met online in 2014.

Sief Allah H., a former street vendor and labourer in Tunisia, in 2015 married Yasmin H., an unemployed doctor’s assistant and mother of seven children from four different fathers, the report said.
Frau Yasmin is clearly a lady who knows what she likes, and also grasps firmly her prerogative to change her mind.

His wife helped him with flight and hotel bookings, but both trips failed.

Sief Allah H. also volunteered to help the IS in their propaganda work, and did so in early 2018 by publishing material of the jihadist group online, said prosecutors.

Later, the couple decided to prepare an attack in Germany itself, and also bought a hamster to test the potency of the ricin.

"Very concrete preparations had been made for an act with a ... biological bomb, which is a first for Germany," said Muench.

If convicted of the charges of serious violence endangering the country, the defendants could each face up to 15 years in jail.

Two suspects were also arrested in August last year in Tunisia in connection with the case.
Oh? I don’t think we were aware of additional friends and relations of Herr und Frau H.

The Grand Turk
Turkey says it has 'neutralized' 43 Kurdish militants in northern Iraq
See also here.
[AlAhram] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
’s Defense Ministry said on Saturday a total of 43 members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) had been "neutralized" so far as part of an operation Ankara launched in northern Iraq 13 days ago.

The Ottoman Turkish military launched what it dubbed "Operation Claw" in northern Iraq’s Hakurk region, on June 27 with artillery and air strikes followed by operations by commando brigades.

The PKK bad boy group is based in northern Iraq, notably in the Qandil region to the south of Hakurk. Ankara said the operation aimed to destroy shelters and caves used by the PKK and "neutralize" its members - a term it commonly uses to refer to deaths, but also to those maimed or captured.

"43 PKK murderous Moslems have been neutralized as part of Operation Claw, which has continued successfully for 13 days in the Hakurk region of northern Iraq," the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

It said 53 mines and improvised bombs had been destroyed and 74 caves and shelters used by the PKK were made unusable, adding that it had also seized weapons and ammunition belonging to the bad boys.

Defense Minister Hulusi Akar has said the operation would continue in the region until "the last terrorist is neutralized".

Separately, two PKK members, one of whom was on Turkey’s wanted list, were "neutralized" in Turkey’s southeastern Diyarbakir province, the Interior Ministry said.

Another PKK member was tossed in the slammer
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
in Diyarbakir at a traffic checkpoint, the local gendarmarie said.

Turkey’s pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), the third largest in parliament, has said such operations created crises and that tens of similar operations in the past had not created a solution.
Except that the objective of the operations is as much to reduce the Kurdish breeding population as it is to get actual members of the PKK.

5 PKK fighters killed amid 'serious' KRG complicity: PKK
See also here.
[Rudaw] Five Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) guerrillas were killed in recent Ottoman Turkish strikes, the party's armed wing announced Saturday, as the corpse count in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
’s Operation Claw on Kurdistan Region soil continues to rise.

The five fighters, including one woman, were killed on June 2 during PKK-Turkey festivities in Khuakurk, Erbil governorate near the Turkey-Iraq-Iran border, the epicenter of Operation Claw, according to the statement.

The PKK’s armed wing has in recent days accused the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) of acting in "very serious" complicity in the large-scale Ottoman Turkish military offensive in the Region.

"If the South [Kurdistan Region of Iraq] authorities choose silence in this attack, then it likely means they are in agreement," Murat Karayilan, head of the PKK’s armed wing, told Firat News Agency.

In recent months, the KRG in Erbil and Iraqi central government in Baghdad have both called on Ankara to halt its military incursions while simultaneously and repeatedly demanding PKK withdrawal from their territory.

Karayilan also warned that offensives close to the border will not isolated in nature, instead forming part of a wider Ottoman Turkish invasion that will see the city of Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
home to a significant Turkmen population and often viewed as an extension of Turkey’s national imaginary, fall under Ottoman Turkish control.

Currently headquartered in the Qandil mountains in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, just south of Khuakurk, the PKK has fought a decades-long armed struggle against the Ottoman Turkish state for greater political and cultural rights for Kurds in Turkey.

Earlier this month, Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi met with Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
in Turkey, with discussions on increased cross-border security and intelligence partnerships high on the agenda.

While Turkey has repeatedly launched cross-border incursions and bombing raids against the PKK, Operation Claw is an escalation of unprecedented scale and extent.

Having entered its tenth day, the offensive shows no sign of abating. Turkey's Defense Ministry today announced the killing of two PKK fighters, bringing the corpse count to 46.

Four Ottoman Turkish soldiers have been killed since the offensive began on May 27, according to the same ministry.

Peshmerga fighters have also been caught in the crossfire of PKK-Turkey festivities during the Operation, with three maimed ‐ one critically ‐ when Ottoman Turkish jets bombed Khuakurk and its surrounding areas on Wednesday.

Operation Claw is targeting suspected PKK positions using a wealth of weaponry, including fixed wing aircraft, helicopters, artillery, ground forces and even the first reported use of a Ottoman Turkish-made ballistic missile.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian Army kills over 150 jihadists, Turkish-backed rebels in 72 hours, Russians airstrike overhead, famous football player definitely toes up
A useful map — unless one is red/green colourblind — can be seen here.
[AlMasdar] The jihadist and Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels have suffered heavy casualties over the last 72 hours, as their latest offensive in northwestern Hama has turned into a complete blood bath.

According to a Syrian Arab Army (SAA) field report, their troops have killed over 150 fighters from Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
, the National Liberation Front
...the Turkic paramilitaries intended to replace with their native jihadi ferocity all the highly trained Turkish soldiers Sultan Erdogan I the much beloved has jailed in the last few years for not worshipping the ground he walks upon. The Uighurs and so forth who did not join Al Nusra or ISIS seem to have ended up here...
, and Jaish al-Izza.

Among the 150 hard boyz killed in northwestern Hama were three commanders from Jaish al-Izza. The commanders were identified by the group as the former Syrian National Team goalkeeper Abdel-Bassit Sarout, Yasser al-Hilal, and Mohammad Khaled al-Sabbagh.

While Jaish al-Izza has suffered a tremendous blow to their military command, it is Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham that has lost the most combatants since Thursday’s offensive.

A source from the Syrian military said more than half the krazed killer casualties were members of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham; this includes a large number of foreign combatants as well.

In regards to the Syrian Arab Army’s casualties, they too have suffered a large number of losses in their ranks. The Syrian Army has lost at least 50 soldiers in the last 72 hours, with most of their casualties coming during the first hours of the jihadist offensive.

The battle in northwestern Hama is still ongoing at this time, as both warring parties trade offensives to regain territories they have lost in the last 72 hours.

Russian airstrikes hammer jihadist lines in NW Hama as Syrian Army attempts to advance

[AlMasdar] For the second time in the last 24 hours, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has launched a counter-offensive to reclaim the territory they lost in the northwestern countryside of Hama.

Backed by heavy Russian airstrikes, the Syrian Army began their assault by storming the large hilltop of Tal Malah. This attack resulted in a series of intense clashes that are still ongoing at this time.

According to a military source in the town of Mhardeh, the Syrian and Russian air forces are peppering the militant-held towns of Al-Latamneh, Kafr Zita, Zakat, and Jibeen in an attempt to weaken their resolve against the Syrian Arab Army.

While the Syrian Army Army was able to retake Kafr Houd on Friday morning, they failed to hold onto Tal Malah after launching a heavy assault on Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s defenses.

At the same time, the Syrian Army is attempting to fend off a jihadist assault on the key town of Kernaz in northwestern Hama. On Friday, the jihadist rebels launched an assault on this town, hitting the Syrian Army’s defenses with a VBIED during the first hours of the attack.

The Syrian military was able to forestall the jihadist advance at Kernaz, killing and wounding dozens of militants during the battle.

Syrian Army killed 120 militants during HTS offensive in NW Hama: Russia

[AlMasdar] Militants from the *Hayat Tahrir al-Sham
terror group launched an offensive late on Thursday. At least 500 holy warriors with the support of armored vehicles and tanks, attacked Syrian army positions near the towns of Jabin and Tal Melh, according to Maj. Gen. Viktor Kupchishin, commander of the Russian center for Syrian reconciliation.

"While repelling the attack, Syrian government forces killed over 120 holy warriors and destroyed five tanks, three IFV, nine off-road vehicles, a multiple-launch rocket system and two mortars", Kupchishin said at a daily briefing.

The Russian general also said that on 7 June armed opposition groups from the Idlib de-escalation zone launched attacks on the positions of government forces near the towns of Karnaz and Hamamiyat in Hama province.

According to Kupchishin, about 80 faceless myrmidons and seven pickup trucks participated in the attack on Karnaz. About 60 faceless myrmidons took part in the attack on Hamamiyat with the support of two tanks, an IFV and a pickup truck.

"While repelling the attacks by armed opposition groups, the Syrian Arab Republic armed forces destroyed more than 20 holy warriors, a tank and two pickup trucks", he concluded.

In early May, holy warriors increased the frequency of attacks on the Syrian provinces of Hama, Aleppo, and Latakia. They also attempted attacks on Syrian army positions in the region. Government forces have responded by attacking terrorist formations in Idlib province. Syrian forces are targeting Nusra Front terrorist group depots, artillery positions, and observation posts.

Northwestern Idlib is reportedly still home to around 30,000 button men, including foreign mercenaries, and faceless myrmidons of the Nusra Front terror group.

The Idlib province is one of four designated de-escalation zones in the Syrian civil war in which government forces led by Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

and the opposition, including terrorist organizations, have been fighting since 2011. Russia, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

, and Iran act as the guarantors of the ceasefire in these zones.

Despite a countrywide ceasefire regime being established, violations by illegal armed formations in the Idlib de-escalation zone still occur.

Former Syrian National Team member turned rebel commander reportedly dead after Hama battle

[AlMasdar] The former goalkeeper for the Syrian National Team, ’Abdel-Bassit Sarout, reportedly succumbed to his wounds on Saturday after the fierce battle that took place in northwestern Hama earlier in the week.

According to opposition activists via social media, Sarout was badly maimed during the joint Jaish al-Izza/Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
offensive in northwestern Hama.

At first, many pro-opposition activists reported that the Jaish al-Izza
... part of the currently Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army...
commander would recover from his wounds; however, no status update was given on Sarout until this morning.

Sarout was a primary fixture in the early anti-government demonstrations in Syria, as the former goalkeeper would attend several protests in his home city of Homs.

Not long after the armed conflict broke out in Syria, Sarout joined the Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
during the battle of Homs.

Later, it was reported that Sarout had joined the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS/ISIS/IS/ISIS), but there was no definitive proof to corroborate the claims.

Prior to his death, Sarout was the commander of the powerful FSA faction, Jaish al-Izza; this rebel group was at the forefront of every battle against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in northern Hama.

(NLF) struck a Syrian fighter jet with an anti-aircraft missile (i.e. MANPADS) while it was flying a sortie over the Idlib Governorate on Friday.

According to a military report, the Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels clipped a Syrian Air Force Su-22 jet in southwest Idlib, but the fighter pilot was able to maintain control of the warplane and return the aircraft to its home base.

... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA), have used MANPADS in the past to shoot down Syrian Air Force jets and helicopters.

While it is not clear where the hard boyz received all of the MANPADS in their arsenal, some of them were seized from the Syrian military during the first years of the conflict.

The Death Eater MANPADS have proven effective in the past, especially against some of the Syrian Air Force’s older aircraft.

ISIS ambush kills 3 Syrian Army soldiers in southern Palmyra
[AlMasdar] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) carried out another ambush in the Palmyra countryside this week, killing a number of soldiers in the process.

According to a field report from Palmyra, the Islamic State ambushed a Syrian Army vehicle as it was traveling south of the ancient city.

The report said the Islamic State ambush resulted in the death of at least three soldiers, including one officer.

The Islamic State has recently stepped up their attacks against the Syrian Arab Army and their allies in eastern Syria, killing more than 100 soldiers in the month of May alone.

In response to these ISIS attacks, the Syrian Arab Army has beefed up the number of military personnel around Palmyra; however, this has done little to deter the terrorist strikes.
