Islamic Raiders Kill 28 Christians in South Sudan
[Breitbart] Islamist holy warriors raided the Christian community of Yinh Pabol in South Sudan, killing at least 28 residents and torching 57 houses in early January, the Barnabas Fund reported this week.

Bishop Joseph Mamer Manot of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan (ECSS) said that the attack caused "massive displacement," adding that "the humanitarian situation is alarming as food and other property have been burned down into ashes, leaving survivors with no shelters, no food and no safe drinking water."

In its report, the Barnabas Fund said the attack is the latest example of violent mostly peaceful assaults on South Sudanese Christians by Moslem Massiriya rustics from the Republic of Sudan, along the disputed border separating the two countries.
They sound like the Janjaweed we used to read about so regularly in Darfur, but they’re from more northerly herding tribes whose chosen target was fellow Muslims of a darker shade rather than Christians of a darker shade.
South Sudan’s Eye radio similarly reported that four separate violent mostly peaceful incursions in South Sudan by armed Sudanese Massiriya rustics occurred in early January, leaving more than 20 people dead in Aweil East County.

On Tuesday of this week, the government of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, where the attack occurred, ordered all county commissioners in the state to mobilize assistance for the victims of the Yinh Pabol attack.

In an effort to stem further violence, the state government also suspended traffic this week on the Aweil-Mairem commercial corridor that links Sudan to South Sudan.

The state security adviser, Joseph Akook Aleu, said Monday that the state government decided to close the road to Sudan because of the ongoing attacks and killing of civilians.

"Yes, the commercial road is already suspended and there are no movements at the moment except on the Kiir Adem-Abu Matariq road," Akook said.

Libyan Army Launches Military Operation in South, Chadian rebels to withdraw
[LIBYAREVIEW] The Libyan National Army (LNA) has begun "a wide and comprehensive military operation in the south of the country to impose security, the Commander of Southern Operations and the Sebha Military Region, Major General al-Mabrouk Sahban said. The Libyan Commander added that, the first phase of the military operation will target all violators participating in random construction, drug trafficking, smuggling, illegal immigration, and gangs.

The second phase is set to target illegal fuel stations, which distribute smuggled fuel at exorbitant prices. The phase will not start until fuel is available at all stations licensed by the Libyan state.

"Distributing fuel to the Sebha oil depot is unfair due to the lack of adequate control over the distribution stations. This is in addition to the manipulation of distribution stations by several parties," Sahban said. He stressed that there are efforts by the LNA aimed at delivering fuel to all Libyans.

In an interview with al-Ain News, he added that they are showing great interest in the Murzuq Basin. As several meetings have been held for a comprehensive settlement between the parties of the city.

On Thursday, the Libyan Army announced that it has closed its southern borders with Chad and Sudan until further notice, according to the Subul al-Salam Brigade.

The brigade called on vehicle and truck drivers to abide by this decision, "to preserve their safety at the present time."

On Wednesday, Kingabe Ogouzeimi de Tapol, a Spokesman for the Front for Change and Concord in Chad (FACT), said that many Chadian rebels are still present in Libya.

In an interview with the Italian news agency, Nova, De Tapol said that "they understand the need to return. In the past, we were in Libya to fight ISIS, but today we know that we must go back to our country."

He expressed his regret that elections were not held in Libya.

According to Nova, many Chadian rebels remain in Libya, as they are threatened by the government, and are unable to return to Chad.

De Tabol stressed that Chadian forces of Evil "are not present in Libya to support one party against another."

Last week, Egyptian President, Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi met with the head of the Transitional Military Council of Chad, Mohammed Idris Deby in Cairo. They discussed the political and security situation in Libya, and its repercussions on regional security and stability.

They agreed on the need for the political process in Libya, to include a clear mechanism for the withdrawal of all mercenaries and foreign forces from the country. They also stressed the need to ensure that weapons and military equipment belonging to mercenaries, are not smuggled into neighbouring states.

On 28 August, Deputy Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Musa al-Koni visited Chad, and agreed with Deby on the need to withdraw Chadian forces from Libyan territory.

Al-Koni and Deby agreed that "the continued presence of those fighters in southern Libya poses a threat and danger to the security and stability of Libya, as it is a threat to the security and stability of Chad."

The two sides called for "the necessity of activating the quadripartite security agreement that was signed between Chad, Libya, Niger, and Sudan."

We Lost 30 Members To Attacks By Bandits, Terrorists — Miyetti Allah
[SAHARAREPORTERS] The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Taraba State chapter, has lamented the killings of members of its vigilante group by gunnies locally known as bandidos.

Speaking with Media Trust, Chairman of North East Zone of the association, Mafindi Danburan said at least 30 members of the Fulani
... a peculiarly brutal tribe of Moslem herdsmen infesting Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and probably other places that are light on law and order and heavy on tribal identity...
vigilante group, a military arm of MACBAN, were murdered by the bandidos as more bodies are yet to be recovered.

According to him, the vigilante members were on a mission to flush out bandidos from their camp in Karal near Gassol town when they were ambushed.

He said bandidos from Zamfara State and other states had taken over many forests and established camps.

Danburan explained that the vigilante group, set up by MACBAN, had been in the forefront in fighting kidnappers and cattle rustlers in the state.

He disclosed that the Fulani vigilante group was set up following the quit notice issued by Emir of Muri to criminal Fulani, adding that the group was inaugurated by the commissioner of police in the state in August.

The chairman further said the Fulani vigilante have arrested over 47 suspected kidnappers in their hideout and also recovered many weapons including Ak47 rifles.

He revealed that the suspects arrested and weapons recovered were all handed over to the police.

Danburan also disclosed that the Fulani vigilante have flushed out many kidnappers from their camps in Mayo Kam and Zodai in Bali Local Government Area.

He said if urgent security measure was not taken, "Taraba will be turned into another bandidos’ den because right now hundreds of them have relocated into many forests areas in the state."

He therefore called on the federal government to deploy military and fighter jets to flush out bandidos that took over forests in Gassol local government and many parts of the state.

Boko Haram Terrorists Ban Movement Of Farm Produce With Trucks In Niger State
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād have banned transportation of farm produce with trucks in Bana, Kwapaena, Unguwan Madaki, Koppa and Kurebe communities in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

According to FIJ, the jihadists also collect levies to grant farmers access to their farms.

"They would extort millions of naira from us with an agreement that they would not encroach on our farms again but they would come back. This always comes when the farmers want to cultivate.

"They would divide our farm produce and give us little to take home. Let us say out of 100 bags of maize, the gun-wielding fighters may decide to give the owner 20 bags after strenuous negotiations," a source disclosed.

The terrorists, who were against the use of trucks to transport farm produce, called it greed.

"Don’t be greedy. Come with your cycle of violences, not a four-wheel vehicle to get the portion of your crops," some villagers quoted the criminals to have said.

A resident of Bana said the terrorists’ statement is law. "We dare not go to our farms with a lorry for cultivation," he said.

The state governor, Abubakar Bello, in statement on Thursday said the situation could trigger food scarcity.

"The worrisome part of the security challenges is the inability of the farmers to harvest their farm produce, which may likely trigger food scarcity in the state. We are worried by the nefarious activities of these terrorists. Desperation has been noticed among them as a result of the onslaught of security agents, which has made them target unsuspecting rural inhabitants.," the governor had said.

[FortWorthStarTelegram] Colleyville synagogue held hostage during livestreamed service; police negotiating with man

Authorities northeast of Fort Worth were negotiating with a man Saturday who took people hostage at a Colleyville synagogue during services. The FBI and Texas Department of Public Safety are at the scene, CNN reported, quoting a Colleyville police sergeant who said no injuries have been reported.

A source on the scene told ABC News that an armed suspect took a rabbi and three others hostage and claims to have bombs in unknown locations.

The source told ABC that the suspect’s sister is a known terrorist who is incarcerated at Federal Medical Center Carswell, a women's prison in Fort Worth, and he is demanding that his sister be freed from prison. According to ABC, the FBI is trying to confirm that the hostage taker's sister is Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani woman who is imprisoned on charges related to the attempted murder and assault of United States officers and employees in Afghanistan in 2008.

Article updated at 7:11 p.m. local time as follows:
1 hostage released from Colleyville synagogue; rabbi among 3 still held inside; negotiations continue

Law enforcement had visuals on the hostage taker and were both comparing it with photos of her brother and using it against their own databases, according to a source familiar with the investigation.

“Some of you asked about security. President Russ Schultz and I want to assure you that all of our Tarrant County Jewish Congregations work closely with the Jewish Federation, local police departments, the Department of Homeland Security and a host of other professional groups to constantly evaluate our security procedures,” the email said. “Following what we pray is a safe resolution, those groups will certainly meet and learn from this situation for the future.”

Jawaid Alam, president of the Islamic Center of Southlake, told the Star-Telegram that Cytron-Walker is a personal friend and a friend of the Muslim community who has promoted peace and cooperation across faiths.

“He is a peace loving person, a Rabbi and Jewish leader, but a true friend of the Muslim community,” Alam said. “He and his family are considered part of the Muslim community, and he considers us part of the Jewish community.”

Authorities in hours-long standoff at Colleyville synagogue, no injuries reported
See also the Ft Worth Star-Telegram’s report here, courtesy of Bubba Lover of the Faeries8843.
[Dallas Morning News] COLLEYVILLE — Authorities were negotiating Saturday afternoon with a man who appeared to have taken hostages inside a synagogue.

It’s unclear how many people are inside the building or whether anyone is armed, Colleyville Police Sgt. Dara Nelson said. No injuries have been reported, she said.

Police said on Twitter around 11:30 a.m. that they were "conducting SWAT operations" in the 6100 block of Pleasant Run Road, the site of Congregation Beth Israel. The situation was ongoing as of 4:30 p.m.

All residents in the immediate area were being evacuated, and police asked people to avoid the area.

Nelson said negotiators made contact with somebody inside the synagogue who they believe is a suspect. Authorities don’t believe there is a threat to the general public.

Nelson said "we know there’s a subject inside and other people inside with him," but stopped short of describing it as a hostage situation.
Update at 7:35 p.m.:
Shortly after 5 p.m., authorities were seen bringing a man wearing a robe and a black yarmulke out of the building.

The Council on American Islamic Relation further condemned Saturday’s incident. Edward Ahmed Mitchell, the organization’s national deputy director, called the situation “an unacceptable act of evil” and said “no cause can justify or excuse this crime.”

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson said Dallas police would have additional patrols at synagogues and other sites in the city, adding that officials were working with the Jewish Federation to monitor any threats.

Police in New York and Los Angeles also were increasing patrols at synagogues.

In the past, CAIR has called for Siddiqui’s release, with the executive director of CAIR-Dallas, Faizan Syed, saying in November that her sentence was unjust.

Siddiqui’s lawyer, Marwa Elbially, called her “one of the greatest victims of the so-called ‘war on terror’ kidnapping program that saw hundreds of innocent people kidnapped and held in U.S.-funded detention around the world.”

CAIR issued a statement with an attorney representing Siddiqui’s brother’s that said the person inside the synagogue was not related to Siddiqui and called for him to surrender.

“This assailant has nothing to do with Dr. Aafia, her family or the global campaign to get justice for Dr. Aafia,” John Floyd, the organization’s board chair, said in a written statement. “We want the assailant to know that his actions are wicked and directly undermine those of us who are seeking justice for Dr. Aafia.”

Other sources updating at 7:35 p.m. ET:
CNN is liveblogging here. Latest:
The suspect in the Texas synagogue hostage situation spoke with a New York City rabbi today
The FBI interviewed a New York City-based rabbi who spoke to the suspect in the Texas synagogue hostage situation earlier today.

The rabbi of Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas — who is among the four people being held hostage — called the rabbi in New York City at the request of the hostage taker.

She is a well-known rabbi who has no connection to the hostage taker. According to the official, the hostage taker told the rabbi that Aafia Siddiqui was framed and that they want her released.

The Post Millennial adds:
UPDATE 6:10 p.m. EST: Lawyer confirms Aafia Siddiqui's brother is not the suspect inside the Synagogue.

The Daily Mail is also following the story, and names the brother as Muhammad Siddiqui, who is listed as an architect in Houston.

[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

On Friday, residents of towns in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria, were surprised to see banners of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
Organization (ISIS) and leaflets attached to doors and walls of mosques.

"Residents were surprised with leaflets attached to walls of mosques bearing a message by the ISIS bandidos bully boyz addressing the Good State, which are areas in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, warning people never to come close to checkpoints of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and threatening the SDF with killing if they do not repent," eyewitnesses of the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor told North Press.

The leaflets bore a phrase saying, "Do not Touch the paper" in order not to remove it, according to the source.

Residents of Abu Hamam, al-Gharanij and al-Keshkyya towns, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, removed the leaflets and downed ISIS banners that were raised in the aforementioned towns, Sources told North Press.

"The goal of spreading these leaflets is to instill fear among people in addition to blackmailing venture capitalists and traders in order to pay royalties to groups operating under ISIS name," a military source of SDF told North Press.

"SDF will pursue ISIS sleeper cells and any groups work in its name to sow horror among people, who should not believe in or response to these threats, and those who are threatened or blackmailed have to tell the military forces directly," the source added.
