Pakistan says political incentives key to bring Afghan Taliban to negotiations table
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] As the Afghan officials have long been criticizing Islamabad for supporting the anti-government armed militant groups in Afghanistan, specifically the Taliban and the notorious Haqqani terrorist network, the Pakistani officials have once again started to lobby in favor of the group, emphasizing on consideration of political incentives to encourage the group to reconciliation negotiations.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Nafees Zakaria made the remarks during a press briefing on Thursday.

“Pakistan believes that there is no military solution to the conflict in Afghanistan. The focus should be on a politically negotiated settlement under an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process,” Zakariza said.

He also added “We believe the focus should be on exploring political incentives that can attract Taliban to negotiations. In the same spirit, Pakistan has welcomed the peace deal with Hizb-i-Islami and we believe that this can serve as a model.”

The Pakistani foreign ministry spokesman was responding to a question regarding the warnings issued by President Ghani to accept peace talks or get ready for the inclusion in the global list of specially designated terrorist groups.

President Ghani said last week that the Taliban group should understand that time is not waiting for them.

“They should wholeheartedly accept the peace process or they should get ready to be included in the international list of the globally designated terrorists,” President Ghani said.

President Ghani further added that the government of national unity has a crystal clear approach and policy towards peace process since the beginning of its formation.

In the meantime, during a meeting with the German president Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the Afghan leader said less time is left for the Taliban group to accept the reconciliation process offers, apparently reiterating the government’s pervious stance that strict military operations policy will adopted along with the efforts to blacklist the group.

President Ghani further added that the priorities of the Afghan government is to reach to a peace agreement with Pakistan first and then with the Taliban group, emphasizing that Taliban is not having a single leadership and apparently gesturing towards the undeclared war being waged by Pakistan as he has consistently been emphasizing upon for a long time.

T-Rex and Qatar Sign Diplomatic Memorandum of Understanding: No More Funding Terrorists or Extremists
[THECONSERVATIVETREEHOUSE] Qatar has signed a promise to stop the financing of The Muslim Brotherhood; and just to keep them honest, the GCC and coalition nations are keeping them in the spotlight.
Watch and see what Qaradawi does. I can't see Qatar cutting off the funding to the Brüderbund just like that. Look for the funding to continue through "private parties."

India-Pakistan
The People Versus Abdul Aziz
[DAWN] Ten years ago as millions watched the spectacle of the Lal Masjid
...literally the Red Mosque, located in Islamabad and frequented by all sorts of high govt officials. The proprietors, Ghazi Abdul Rasheed and Maulana Abdul Aziz Ghazi, unleashed their Islamic storm troopers on the city, shutting down whorehouses and beating people up who weren't devout enough. The Musharraf govt put an end to the nonsense by besieging the place. Abdul Aziz Ghazi was nabbed while he was trying to escape dressed up like a girl. BBC reported that the corpse count at 173, but other claims, usually hysterical, say there were up to 1000 titzup. Among their number was Abdul Rashid Ghazi. Everyone then said tut-tut and what a nice guy he had been...
siege that brought the capital to its knees, few could have imagined that one day the protagonist of this huge national embarrassment, the man who triggered the killing of 11 Pak soldiers on live television, would ever walk free again. Even fewer now recall that before his unveiling on national television as the burqa-clad would-be escapee, nobody outside the mosque had ever seen Maulana Abdul Aziz
...nutball holy man who runs the Lal Masjid in the heart of Pakistain's capital. After instigating a rebellion against the state in 2007, he was caught trying to sneak away dressed in a burka. He rejects democracy as un-Islamic, which it probably is...

Blasphemy accusation against PM’s adviser
[DAWN] A pastor has approached the capital’s police, seeking the registration of a case against a member of the federal cabinet on the charge of blasphemy, police and the complainants told Dawn on Thursday.

The complainant has warned that the Christian community could "go to any extent" and had the right to launch countrywide protests if a case was not registered and the accused remain unpunished.

Pastor Yousaf Bhatti, Joint Christian Action Committee President Akram Waqar Gill and Chairman Samuel Yaqoob and All Pakistain Moslem League Islamabad President Javed Akhter Bhatti have nominated an adviser to the prime minister in their complaint.

The complaint states that a couple of days ago, some people (three ministers and the adviser in question) held a presser at the Press Information Department, where one of them compared Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
to the Prophet Jesus Christ, adding that this had hurt the sentiments of the Christian community around the country.

The complainants have sought a case under Section 295-C of the Pakistain Penal Code, which deals with "Use of derogatory remarks, etc., in respect of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)". The complainants have asked that the accused be nabbed
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
as per legal procedure and punished according to the law.

When asked why they had sought a case under 295-C, which is specific to Islam, Mr Gill said the police had also pointed this out, but the complainants believed that since all prophets were equal, the adviser should be proceeded against under this section.

Pastor Yousaf Bhatti told Dawn that the cabinet member in question committed blasphemy by comparing the prime minister with Jesus Christ.

"One of them stated that whatever Nawaz Sharif was suffered was similar to what happened to Jesus Christ," he said.

"We will also approach the Supreme Court if police fail to take action against the accused," the pastor said.

Aabpara police confirmed that a complaint had been lodged and the legal process had been initiated. An officer told Dawn on condition of anonymity that the complaint was sent to senior officers of the area and the legal branch for an opinion.

Attack on Hindu pilgrims a bid to discredit Kashmiri uprising: FO
[DAWN] The Foreign Office on Thursday pointed the finger of suspicion at Indian authorities in the Amarnath Yatra attack and expressed the fear that it could be a ploy to discredit Kashmiri uprising against occupation.

"Indian agencies have a track record of staging false flag operations. Chattisinghpora massacre of 38 innocent Sikhs in March 2000 is a case in point ... India has for long tried to taint the indigenous Kashmiri movement for self-determination in IoK by equating it with terrorism," FO front man Nafees Zakaria said at the weekly media briefing.

Seven Hindu pilgrims were killed on July 10 in a gun attack while returning from Amarnath. There have been conflicting reports about the circumstances of the attack, which India has blamed on Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
Indian authorities further claimed that two of the suspected attackers, including the alleged criminal mastermind Abu-Ismail, were Paks.

ATC orders seizure of Imran Khan, Tahirul Qadri's assets after no-shows in terrorism case
[DAWN] An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad on Friday issued orders for the seizure of properties belonging to Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight...
and Pakistain Awami Tehrik (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri
...Pak politician, and would-be dictator, founder and head of Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran and Pakistain Awami Tehrik. He usually resides in Canada, but returns to Pakistain periodically to foam at the mouth and lead demonstrations. Depending on which way the wind's blowing, Qadri claims to be the author of Pak's blasphemy law. Other times he says it wasn't him...
after the two repeatedly failed to appear in hearings of terrorism cases registered against them.

The ATC also issued notices to this effect to the relevant cop shoppes and revenue boards.

On February 3, an ATC had issued perpetual warrants of arrest against Khan and Qadri in a case related to an attack on a police brass hat during the 2014 dharna which paralysed Islamabad.

ATC judge Sohail Ikram had issued the perpetual arrest warrants after police submitted a report stating that the suspects could not be tossed in the slammer
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
despite a proclamation being issued.

On Sept 1, 2014 during the sit-ins, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Asmatullah Junejo was beaten up by protesters on Constitution Avenue on his first day on the job as SSP Operations of ICT Police.

Secretariat police had started the paperwork but haven't done much else against several PTI and PAT workers for their alleged involvement in vandalism and attacking SSP Janjejo.

The ATC had issued warrants for Khan and Qadri with directions to the police to produce them before the court. Police had later told the ATC that the execution of the arrest warrants against the two politicians could not take place as they were not found at their residence.

Police also submitted a report before the ATC, saying that a police party had gone to the residence of Imran Khan in Bani Gala where a security guard informed them that Khan was not at home and that he did not know where he was.

Nisar dismisses speculations of differences with PML-N leadership
[DAWN] Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan on Friday rubbished the impression that he had developed differences with the PML-N leadership.

"Neither did the minister walk out from the last meeting of the cabinet, nor was there any altercation during the session," a statement issued by the interior ministry said.

The spokesperson urged the media to avoid "illogical speculations and unrealistic comments" regarding the minister.

"A section of media ran baseless news in this regard," the statement read.

"Chaudhary Nisar could not attend the party's parliamentary meeting, held today, due to his personal engagements and this was not the first instance so this should not be misinterpreted," the ministry said, adding that Nisar will present his viewpoint in the next few days on the prevailing situation through media.

Earlier on Thursday, sources had told Dawn that the interior minister lauded the prime minister for presenting himself and his family for accountability, but warned that the party should exercise caution while handling the situation that had arisen after the release of the JIT report.

Imran following Fethullah Gulen's model to destabilise govt, claims Ahsan Iqbal
Noooooo!!! Not FETÖ!!
[DAWN] Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has alleged that Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
Chairman Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who isn't your heaviest-duty thinker, maybe not even among the top five...
was following The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's Fethullah Gulen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
's model to destabilise the government.

Talking to DawnNews on Friday, the minister compared Imran Khan to Fethullah Gulen who, according to him, harboured a network in the political apparatus of Turkey through which he was trying to control the political system while he himself was in exile.

On the same pattern, Imran Khan was trying to destabilise the government with the help of like-minded officials and supporters, whether they are in the government institutions or politics, Iqbal claimed.

"He [Khan] is also manipulating our democratic process for his interests. He held Dharna 1, in which he used his sympathisers in various departments. Then he held Dharna 2, which was also a failed attempt
Curses! Foiled again!
and to some extent, he also played a role in this case.

"The judiciary told us that our speeches were aggressive. What about the speeches of Imran Khan when he was threatening that he will mobilise the masses against the JIT if it failed to pass a judgement against PM Sharif," Iqbal said.

Key Pak politician warns Islamabad regarding persistent interference in Afghan affairs
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A key political figure in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tribal region of Pakistan Mahmood Achakzai has warned Islamabad regarding the persistent interference of Islamabad in the internal affairs of Afghanistan.

Speaking during a gathering in Quetta city, Achakzai said the persistent interferences could have negative consequences that will take Pakistan towards major crisis.

He also warned that such interferences would also have a negative impact and could sabotage the efforts to establish the China and Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

This comes as the Afghan officials have long been insisting that the leadership councils of the Taliban group and the notorious Haqqani terrorist network are based in Peshawar, Quetta, and other parts of Pakistan from where they plan and coordinate attacks in Afghanistan.

The US Department of Defense in its report also said last month that “Afghan oriented militant groups, including the Taliban and Haqqani Network, retain freedom of action inside Pakistani territory and benefit from support from elements of the Pakistani Government.”

The report further added “Although Pakistani military operations have disrupted some militant sanctuaries, certain extremist groups—such as the Taliban and the Haqqani Network—were able to relocate and continue to operate in and from Pakistan. The United States continues to convey to Pakistan at all levels the importance of taking action against all terrorist and extremist groups.”

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israeli police release Jerusalem’s top Muslim cleric
[AA.TR] Israeli police on Friday released Jerusalem’s top Moslem holy man Sheikh Mohammad Hussein who was detained earlier near the al-Aqsa mosque, Paleostine's official news agency WAFA reported.

The mufti was taken into custody from the Bab al-Asbat area (Lion’s Gate) after Friday prayer.

"Israeli police detained my father in a violent manner and took him to unknown destination," Omar, son of the grand mufti, had told Anadolu Agency.

Hundreds of Paleostinians performed Friday prayer in Bab al-Asbat after they were prevented from praying at the al-Aqsa mosque.
Ynet adds:
The police also brought in for questioning Hussein's predecessor, Ekrima Sa'id Sabri, who currently delivers the Friday sermon at the al-Aqsa Mosque.

Sabri served as the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem between 1994 and 2006 and was dismissed by PA President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
due to his Death Eater views, which were not consistent with the PA's official policy.

Sabri has indirectly expressed his support for terror attacks against Israel over the years, and according to his public statements, he shares many of his opinions with Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",. As a result of his Death Eater views, he has been under the scrutiny of the Israeli defense establishment for some time.

Palmyra artifacts recovered by Syrian Army
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has recovered several artifacts that were stolen from the ancient city of Palmyra by the so-called Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS), the Syrian Arab News Agency reported on Friday.

According to SANA the Syrian Arab Army and competent local authorities completed four major busts in and around the ancient city.

SANA added that the stolen statues were handed over to the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums, as these ancient artifacts date back to the 2nd and 3rd centuries A.D.

General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums considered that the statues had been stolen from the tombs of the southeastern cemetery which was repeatedly looted by ISIS terrorists.

Director of the Museum Affairs at the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums Mohammad Nazir Awad told SANA Saturday that the Directorate received the statues, asserting that the current situation of the statues will be studied and assessed.

Awad added that the directorate has become one of the pioneering institutions in fighting the illegal trafficking of ruins on the global level due to its cooperation with the competent authorities.
