Afghanistan
US blames Pakistan for the failures in Afghanistan, claims Hafiz Saeed
[Khaama Press] The leader of Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
Hafiz Saeed
...founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba and its false-mustache offshoot Jamaat-ud-Dawa. The United Nations declared the JuD a terrorist organization in 2008 and Hafiz Saeed a terrorist as its leader. Hafiz, JuD and LeT are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Pak intel apparatus, so that amounted to squat...
claims that the United States blames Pakistain for its failures in Afghanistan while accusing Washington of using ISIS as a weapon against the Moslem countries.

Saeed who is also the leader of Milli Moslem League has said that "ISIS is a dangerous weapon created by the US which it is using against the Islamic world."

He has also warned that if the Kashmire cause was abandoned, Pakistain would have to face increasingly difficult challenges, according to Pakistain Daily.

Saeed was designated by the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
under UNSCR 1267 in December 2008 following the November 2008 Mumbai attack in which 166 people, including six American citizens, were killed. LeT and several of its front organizations, leaders, and operatives remain under both State Department and Treasury Department sanctions.

Since 2012, the United States has offered a U.S. $10 million‎ reward for information that brings Saeed to justice.

Saeed was released on Friday morning from house arrest after a court rejected to extend his detention on Wednesday.

In reaction to his release, the White House said "Saeed’s release, after Pakistain’s failure to prosecute or charge him, sends a deeply troubling message about Pakistain’s commitment to combating international terrorism and belies Pak claims that it will not provide sanctuary for faceless myrmidons on its soil."

#1  White House said "Saeed’s release, after Pakistain’s failure to prosecute or charge him, sends a deeply troubling message about Pakistain’s commitment to combating international terrorism....

But entirely consistent with past performance ek se.

#2  Not sure anyone is to blame for failure in Afghanistan; I think failure is inherent to the place.

Africa Subsaharan
AU Confirms ISIS Infiltration In Countries, Including Somalia
[RADIOSHABELLE] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
has come to be known as the most dangerous jihadist groups, after making gains in Syria and Iraq in the recent past.

The group, initially known as Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), was formed in April 2013, growing out of AL-Qaeda.

Although the group has been disowned by AL-Qaeda, It remains the main jihadist groups fighting government forces in Iraq and Syria, from where it draws a name ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria).

The African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
now says that the group has since expanded its reach into the Democratic Republic of the Congo
...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material...
(DRC), Somalia, Tanzania, and Mozambique.

Speaking to journalist at the 5th head of intelligence and Security services of member States of IGAD and EAC meeting in Entebbe, Fransisco Madeira, a special representative of the African Union chairperson in Somalia said, the threat of the ISIS in Eastern Africa and Africa is real.

Madeira says, given that the ISIS is being expelled from the Gulf, they are taking advantage of the Indian Ocean coastline to infiltrate but also activate sleeper terror cells. So far, there is 100 percent evidence of ISIS operations in Somalia’s Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
and have since extended towards Mogadishu.

The Director-General Internal Security Organizations Col Kaka Bagyenda says there is proof that ISIS has collaboration with the Allied Democratic Front (ADF) which has its operation base in DRC.

The group is said to be led by His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...the head of ISIS, or what remains of it, and a veteran of the Abu Graib jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us. So far he has been killed at least four times, though not yet by a stake through the heart...
, a born of Samarra, north of Baghdad, who joined the insurgency that erupted in Iraq soon after the 2003 US-led invasion. It is believed to have thousands of fighters, including many foreign jihadists from the United Kingdom, La Belle France, Germany and other European countries, the United States, the Arab world and the Caucasus.

At the beginning of this year, three Ugandans were reportedly locked away

in Mozambique at an ISIS Training Camp. Col Kaka Bagyenda says the issue is still under investigation.

Currently, the known terrorist organizations operating in Africa include; ADF, Alshabaab and Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...

Arabia
US must reject $1bn arms sales to Bahrain: HRW
[Al Jazeera] The United States must reject two planned arms sales totaling nearly $1bn to Bahrain in light of the Gulf country's "dismal record on human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
", a rights group said on Thursday.

The US approved a possible sale to Bahrain of 3,000 bomb bodies worth an estimated $45m last week. In April, the State Department approved a possible sale of attack helicopters worth an estimated $911m.

"These two weapons sales make clear that the Trump administration intends nothing short of a free pass on human rights for Bahrain," said Sarah Margon, Washington director at Human Rights Watch.

A close US and British ally, Sunni Moslem-ruled Bahrain has cracked down on the opposition, hailing mostly from the Shia Moslem majority, since it crushed pro-democracy demonstrations they led in 2011.

Rights groups have accused authorities of seeking to stamp out dissent.

#1  'Selling' probably much better than a clandestine arms routing effort through Mexico or some other third party. Receipts much easier to track, no Clinton Foundation processing agents or fees.

#4  Bahrain may not be a shining lamp of freedom and human rights, but all things considered, it's not too bad. Consider the most likely alternative - annexation by Iran?

Iraq
Iraq to prosecute people violating Ramadan fast in public
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi authorities will prosecute people violating the Moslem daytime fasting rituals.

The Interior Ministry said in a statement on Thursday it was "taking legal measures against people publicly breaking their fast (during day time) and refer them to the judiciary".

The Moslem holy fasting month of Ramadan began in Iraq and most Moslem countries on May 17th. The ritual involves abstaining from eating, drinking and sexual relationship from dawn till sunset throughout the month’s 29-30 days. Fasting is mandatory for adults but Islamic sharia makes exceptions for ailing persons, elders who cannot endure it and women who are either pregnant or going through their monthly period.

The ministry added it emphasized on closing alcoholics stores and restaurants during fasting times, with exceptions made for restaurants at factories, student hostels and tourist-class restaurants on highways.

The closures will cover coffee shops, and it is also "not allowed to run artistic shows or any activities that do not correspond to the sanctity of the holy month", according to the statement.

So my proposed 'Paint-A-Pig Jamboree and BBQ Pork-Rib Festival' might not be condoned?
