US border official resigns amid uproar over migrant children
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The acting head of US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has resigned amid an uproar over the discovery of migrant children being held in pitiful conditions at one of the agency’s stations in Texas.

John Sanders’s departure deepened the sense of crisis and added to the rapid turnover inside the agencies responsible for enforcing President Donald Trump’s immigration priorities as the US deals with record numbers of migrant families coming across the southern border.

In a message to employees, Mr Sanders said he would step down on July 5. He did not give a reason for leaving.

Hours after Mr Sanders’s departure became public, two officials told The Associated Press that he was being replaced by Mark Morgan, who was named acting director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement just last month.

In an interview last week, Mr Sanders blamed the problems in detention on a lack of money and called on Congress to pass a 4.5 US billion dollar (£3.55 billion) emergency funding bill to address the crisis.

The House approved the legislation on Tuesday night, setting up a showdown with the Senate where Republican leaders plan approval of a different, bipartisan bill this week that does not offer as many protections and services for migrants.

Afghanistan
New master gunners graduate in Herat province of Afghanistan
[KhaamaPress] A group of ten artillerymen graduated after completing their training in Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
province of Afghanistan.

The NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
-led Resolute Support Mission posted a brief statement earlier this evening confirming that ten Afghan artillerymen concluded training last week in Herat province.

The statement further added that NATO remains committed to support the Afghan Forces in paving a way towards a political settlement of the conflict.

The graduation of the new artillerymen could prove pivotal in providing indirect fire support to the armed forces.

The Afghan armed forces have stepped up counter-terrorism operations across the country during recent months.

The military officials had earlier said that military pressure would be maintained on murderous Moslem groups until they (militants) opt negotiations over violence.

The second to last sentence answers a question of mine. For months I've noticed a large change in the tone of articles posted here. These newer postings indicate the Afghans are beginning to sound and act like a real army. At first one would assume it's the Afghan news outlets coming up with unbelievables. I am beginning to think all this training and some younger leaders are finally having a positive impact.

Thanks for posting these articles and in such volume, trailing wife.

#2  You are very welcome, Roger. Fred gets credit for finding the news sources — I just organize the articles provided there.

It sounds to me like our people are quietly upping their tempo, too. One suspects the change of commander-in-chief had something to do with that.

An Air Force veteran accused of being a mercenary was just freed from detention in Libya
[Task&Purpose] Jamie Sponaugle, a 31-year-old mechanic who served on active duty between 2006 and 2013, was captured by the Libyan National Army after his aircraft "went down" near the country's capitol of Tripoli on May 7, several unnamed U.S. government official told the Washington Post.

Sponaugle served as an active-duty airman from November 2006 until April 2013, and he went on to serve in the Air National Guard from December 2013 to February 2017, according to the Air Force Personnel Center.

His Air Force Specialty Code was command and control battle management ops and he left the service as an E-5 staff sergeant. When he left active-duty, he was serving as an airspace technician with 6 Medical Support Squadron at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida.

He was accused by the LNA, one of the two major political factions currently locked in a civil war for control of the country, of "piloting a Mirage F1, a French-made combat jet, while conducting bombing missions against its forces in the area," according to the Washington Post.

On May 8, the day after Sponaugle's reported downing, LNA claimed it had shot down a Portuguese mercenary "flying a Mirage F1 warplane of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord," the LNA's main political rival.

The Washington Post confirmed that video footage published by an Libyan media outlet that same day showed a bloodied Sponaugle receiving medical treatment and identifying himself as a 29-year-old Portuguese national named "Jimmy Rees."

"It's not clear whether Sponaugle violated U.S. law by working for or fighting with any party in Libya," the Washington Post notes. "Many countries including the United States employ foreign security contractors, who can play a variety of roles and are sometimes armed."
We have the original report of his capture here. That article adds:
Asked what he was doing in Libya, he said: "I was requested to destroy roads and bridges". Asked who sent him, he said it was a civilian contract with someone called Hadi but he did not know his full name.

Terrorist Hisham El-Ashmawy being retried in five cases for supporting, carrying out attacks
[AlAhram] Egypt said that dangerous terrorist Hesham El-Ashmawy, who was handed over to Egyptian authorities last month, is currently being tried in five cases where he had previously received sentences in absentia, according to informed sources.

El-Ashmawy faces charges of carrying out terrorist operations against the army, police forces and civilians.

According to the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, El-Ashmawy is being retried under the criminal procedure law, which stipulates that he must be retried before a military court.

Last May, Egypt secured the transfer of El-Ashmawy from his detention in Libya back to Egypt, with the highly secured transfer operation executed by various Egyptian special forces branches.

El-Ashmawy was captured by the LNA in October 2018 in Libya’s Eastern city of Derna as the forces liberated the city.

El-Ashmawy, who was Egypt’s top wanted terrorist over the past six years, was born in 1978 and graduated in 2000 from the military academy. In 2007, a military court transferred El-Ashmawy to an administrative post before his dismissal from the army in 2011.

He later joined the North Sinai-based Ansar Beit al-Maqdis terrorist group.
Later in Derna he broke away from Ansar Beit al-Maqdis after the group swore allegiance to ISIS, and formed the al-Qaeda affiliated al-Mourabitoun.
El-Ashmawy, also known as Abu Omar El-Mohager (the immigrant), is considered one of the most dangerous bully boyz linked to attacks in Egypt.

El-Ashmawy is believed to have been involved in an liquidation attempt on former Egyptian Interior Minister Mohammed Ibrahim, the murder of top prosecutor Hisham Barakat, as well as the attack on Egyptian border guards in February 2015, which resulted in the death of 29 Armed Forces personnel.

He is also believed to be behind a deadly attack on Christian pilgrims in Upper Egypt's Minya governorate in May 2017, which killed 29 people.

In January 2015, his group was suspected of staging a multi-pronged attack on the headquarters of the Army Battalion 101 Headquarters in El-Arish in North Sinai, which killed 30 soldiers and officers.

An Egyptian military court sentenced him in absentia, along with 13 other terrorists, to death over the New Valley massacre in Farafra on 19 July 2014, where 22 border guards were killed.

Libyan National Forces Alliance proposes ceasefire, political dialogue initiative
[Libya Observer] The Libyan National Forces Alliance (NFA), along with several Libyan stakeholders, has proposed an initiative that aims at ending the fighting in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
and calls for returning to the political process.

Chairman of the NFA, Mahmoud Jibril, said in a statement Tuesday that the initiative aims at limiting the perils caused by the continuous fighting in the country, especially in Tripoli, saying any ceasefire must be accompanied by an all-party political process.

"The first stage of the initiative is to urge Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
's forces to create a safe zone that allows humanitarian corridors to deliver assistance to the trapped people in fighting areas. This zone could remain active for a month or more, during which the initiative will aim at calling for forming a joint force from the Presidential Council's government forces and Haftar's ones of 10.000 fighters." Jibril said.

He added that the joint force, if agreed on, will be under an independent civilian authority in coordination with US Africa Command's (AFRICOM) forces and the Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an Union to fight terrorism and illegal migration.

The initiative also would urge for prisoners exchange and an end for media provocative campaigns, let alone making neutral the financial and monetary institutions in Libya by forming a committee in cooperation with the international community to monitor government expenditure, investments of Libya and Libyan assets.

"The second stage calls for holding conferences to consolidate the ceasefire and pave the way for a political solution. House of Representatives, High Council of State, and other political parties and entities should attend the first conference to devise a roadmap that tackles the constitution's draft and elections' vision." Jibril explained.

"The second conference will be social and economic to discuss the wealth distribution in Libya and the national reconciliation efforts." He added.

He also indicated that the third conference will be focusing on building the Libyan national army and security institutions and merging the armed factions in the regular armed forces.

"The initiative's results must be included in a document to be discussed at the Libyan National Conference under the UN auspices. The influential countries should support the results of the UN-backed conference, if convened." The initiative says.

NFA party and his chief were bitterly criticized for not condemning the attack on Tripoli by Haftar's forces, given their documented backup for Haftar in his operations in Benghazi, Ajdabiya and Derna.

NFA has also seen many resignations due to the stance of the party toward the war on Tripoli.

Yemeni Speaker to Asharq Al-Awsat: Betting on Houthis Changing is False Hope
[AAWSAT] Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
i parliament Speaker Sultan al-Burkani voiced his fears of the conflict ailing his country being removed from the international community’s memory as the threat of an Iran-US war occupies the highest political echelons worldwide.

"Certainly, any tension in the region affects the future of Yemen, and we are afraid to reach a stage of forgetting the issue of Yemen in light of the international community's concern for what is to come," he told Asharq al-Awsat.

Burkani reaffirmed national resolve in Yemen towards defeating Iran-backed Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. He also blamed the United Nations

special envoy Martin Griffiths for the ongoing stalemate in Yemeni peace talks and called on all involved parties to undertake decisive measures to hold the Houthis accountable for their violations of the UN-brokered deal signed in Sweden last December.

"We must not forget that the political solution led by the UN through its envoy has not achieved anything significant. We hope for the crisis to remain present and strong at international forums, because our people need to end this war and reach peace and restore the state to security and stability and overthrow of the coup," Burkani stressed.

Popularly known as the Hodeidah agreement, the deal was signed in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, and represents a first step towards brokering a comprehensive political solution.

Speaking about Iranian efforts to destabilize Yemen by funding and arming Houthi krazed killers, Burkani remarked: "Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
has outlined a personal agenda and we regret that our friends in the international community who know the truth choose to ignore it and stand idle."

Mr Russell-Moyle’s invitation comes despite a plea to him from the Yemeni Embassy in London not to host a "militia" member.

Independent MP John Woodcock, who resigned from Labour last year in protest at the party’s antisemitism troubles dubbed it "staggering that a Labour MP is welcoming this virulently antisemitic terror group into parliament".

Mr Woodcock added: "Time and again, Corbyn and his allies welcome in Jew haters and side with the Death Eater enemies of the UK.

"The decent MPs left in the Labour Party need to stop this event from happening on Tuesday."

Mr Woodcock also drew parallels over the event to hard left Labour leader Mr Corbyn’s notorious invitation to the Commons for Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams just days about the Brighton bomb.

Maduro's Ex-Spy Chief Is In Washington And He's Spilling The Beans
[Hot Air] Here’s a surprise twist we didn’t see coming in the Venezuelan implosion saga. There’s a new visitor freshly arrived in Washington with some tales to tell and he probably knows plenty. His name is General Manuel Ricardo Cristopher Figuera and he was about as far into Venezuelan tyrant Nicolas Maduro’s inner circle as you could get. Until recently he ran the country’s highly feared secret police, the SEBIN. Before Maduro took power, Figuera spent a decade as the chief of security for his predecessor, Hugo Chavez. He reportedly studied his craft under communist spymasters in Castro’s Cuba. So this guy was on the inside.

But when Juan Guaido declared himself interim president and attempted to prod the military into revolt, Figuera jumped ship and backed Guaido. After the overthrow failed he went into hiding in Colombia, where he remained until now. But he’s in Washington and he’s ready to talk. (Washington Post)

Figuera is revealing all sorts of details about Maduro’s corrupt gold transfer schemes, the presence of Hezbollah cells in Venezuela, the involvement of the Russians and Cuban military assets in the country.

Mexico President Says Looking At Information About ISIS Members
[Jpost] Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Tuesday that his security cabinet was responding to information that three ISIS members could enter Mexico.

Lopez Obrador was responding to a news hound who asked about information from U.S. authorities that three ISIS members could enter Mexico. On Monday, Mexico's security minister said these people would be detained if they tried to come into Mexican territory.

Hezbollah operating in Venezuela, Maduro’s ex-security chief says
[IsraelTimes] Former chief of regime’s notorious SEBIN security police accuses president of heading ‘criminal enterprise’.

The feared former head of Venezuelan strongman Nicolas Maduro’s intelligence police has charged that the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah operates in the Latin American country with the protection of the government.

Gen. Manuel Ricardo Cristopher Figuera, who fled his homeland for Colombia and then the US after the failed April 30 uprising in the country, has been passing some of the Maduro regime’s most closely held secrets to American officials.

In an interview with the Washington Post published Monday, he spoke of his disenchantment with the government he had once worked to protect.

“I never saw the country’s situation and the government’s corruption as closely as I did during my last six months,” he said, the period when he ran the notorious SEBIN, or Bolivarian Intelligence Service, the regime’s political security arm.

“I quickly realized that Maduro is the head of a criminal enterprise, with his own family involved,” Figuera said.

Among the abuses: family members linked to the regime using their influence to buy and sell gold to the state for huge profits; support for terror groups like the Colombian ELN; and the deep influence that Cuba’s Raoul Castro has over Maduro, both personally and through Cuban guards and advisers who surround the Venezuelan president.

And, Figuera added, he had seen intelligence reports that say the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah was operating in the capital Caracas, in nearby Maracay, and in the offshore island region of Nueva Esparta with the blessing of the Maduro government. The presence is “apparently geared toward illicit business activity to help fund operations in the Middle East,” the Post reported.

Hezbollah has long been believed by Western intelligence agencies to be playing a significant role in the South American drug trade in order to help finance its military buildup in Lebanon and its infrastructure around the world, but Figuera’s comments, cited only in brief in the Post interview, may be the highest-level admission about such activities from a former top official of a regime that supports the group.

A report earlier this month by Israeli researchers said Hezbollah personnel act as middlemen in the global drug route from South America to West Africa and from there to Europe, helping to move hundreds of tons of cocaine and other drugs through ports in Belgium and Germany — with only 5-10 percent of it being intercepted by law enforcement.

Figuera was one of a handful of Venezuelan officials placed under US sanctions for his role as head of a security service notorious for torture and the inhumane treatment meted out to political prisoners.

A former head of security for Maduro’s mentor, former president Hugo Chavez, Figuera was thought to be one of the regime’s true believers.

But his role in its excesses has led to profound regret, he said.

SEBIN’s “Tomb,” the prison for political prisoners under its Caracas headquarters, has long been accused of inhumane conditions that led to prisoner deaths and suicides — conditions meant to coerce confessions for political crimes.

“Look, if there’s something I regret it’s that I didn’t free all the prisoners. Because there’s a lot of people there who are kidnapped and who are there unfairly. And I owe those people, you know?”

He added: “At one point I thought I was going to be able to bring Maduro to his senses. There are people there who have cancer. There’s a woman there with special issues. There are people who have nothing to do and no reason to be there. I believe I could have done more. Those people are not a threat to the country.”

Mexico president says there may have been 'excesses' in migrant detentions
[Yahoo] Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Tuesday the country's new militarized National Guard police force could have committed "excesses" by detaining migrant women close to the U.S. border, and that they had not been instructed to do so.

Mexico has not traditionally used security forces to stop undocumented foreign citizens leaving the country for the United States.

Lopez Obrador faced repeated questions at a news conference on Tuesday about photographs that emerged last week of the National Guard catching Central American and Cuban women in Ciudad Juarez, which border El Paso, Texas.

The photographs showed National Guard members, some armed with rifles, chasing female migrants and detaining them on the Mexican side of the border. Lopez Obrador said they had not been instructed to carry out such detentions.

"There could have been these excesses, but the instruction for everybody is to respect the human rights of migrants, and that will continue," he said.

Critics, including political allies of Lopez Obrador, say Mexico is doing too much to placate U.S. President Donald Trump, after an agreement to stave off a tariff threat that has led to a deployment of more than 20,000 National Guard and soldiers to contain a surge in migration from Central America and beyond.

Mexico's army chief said on Monday that 15,000 of those forces had been deployed along the northern border with the United States.

The National Guard does have the legal right to detain migrants, Lopez Obrador said, but he explained that it had been not instructed to do so at the northern border.

He calls for a quick resolution of cases brought against his staff.

Pakistan’s FM plays down alleged persecution of Christians
[PRESSTV] Pak Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Wormtongue Qureshi has played down accusations of the persecution of Christians in Pakistain, saying there are "individual incidents," which can be compared to the growing number of knife crimes in the United Kingdom.

Speaking at EU headquarters in Brussels on Tuesday, Qureshi said reports of religious minorities being targeted in Pakistain did not constitute a trend.

"You can’t say this is a trend, no! Individual incidents can be quoted anywhere, [of] minorities being mistreated here, in Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
, in Britannia," The Guardian quoted the top Pak diplomat as saying.

"But I can assure you that Christians are very welcome [in Pakistain]. The Christian community in Pakistain is very positive and a very responsible community... We respect them and we want them to be there. We will do everything possible to protect them and we are," he said.

The bigwig went on to say that the recent claims of persecution were an instance of "Western interests," which "want to paint Pakistain in a particular way."

Qureshi, who met Jeremy Hunt, the British foreign secretary, in London last week, pointed to the UK’s own problems after the fatal stabbings of four people in four days put London’s knife crimes in the international spotlight last week.

"I can quote you examples of how knife crime has gone up in Britannia that is a clear reflection of an increased intolerance within a society which has been so tolerant, so accommodating. So there are examples over here, and there could be some examples over there," Qureshi said.

According to police data, a total of 40,829 attacks involving knives or sharp instruments took place in the United Kingdom in 2018. But there has been no data attaching those attacks to religion.

UN turds, outlaw muslims stoning, cutting heads-hands off, honor killing, and bombings. Meanwhile there are scarcely any Jews, Christians left in the Middle East. They’ve either been driven out or slaughtered.

Indian police arrest 11 for torturing Muslim man to death
[DAWN] Indian police arrested 11 people on Tuesday over the killing of a Moslem man who was tortured and forced to chant Hindu slogans in the latest mob violence to shock the nation.

Two coppers have also been suspended over the handling of the lynching of Tabrez Ansari, captured on a video that went viral on Indian social media.

The 24-year-old is seen in the video crying and pleading as a mob in Jharkhand state forces him to chant "Jai Sri Ram" (hail Lord Ram), a slogan widely used by Hindu hardliners.

Ansari had been accused by villagers of carrying out a burglary. He was tied to a pole and beaten for up to 12 hours before police first detained him in Seraikela, and then took him to hospital ‐ where he died on Saturday.

"We have arrested 11 people. Two police have also been suspended because they failed to inform seniors about the case and tried to manage it at their level," Seraikela police chief Karthik S. told AFP.

Media reports said Ansari's wife has accused police of deliberately taking him to jail first ‐ instead of a hospital ‐ despite the critical injuries he suffered.

News of the death emerged as the Indian government rejected a US State Department report that said religious violence against minorities has spiked under the right-wing Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The US religious freedom report said there had been growing numbers of attacks by groups claiming to protect cows ‐ considered sacred by Hindus ‐ on Moslems and low-caste Dalits since 2014 when Modi came to power.

Opponents in India have also accused the government of not doing enough to stop lynchings.

Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi condemned the killing however, and said the government would not let a "destructive agenda" dominate India's development efforts.

#2  It's Jharkhand, hinterland India. And these are the lowest common denominator. Newly 'empowered' road shitters and wife beating toddy drinkers indulging in hate crime.

As Gandhi himself said once, the hindu is a coward, the muslim a bully.

Neither are civilized or evolved enough to survive their fates. If these men had any courage they would lynch the jocks and hoodlums who daily molest their children, catcalling and rushing women on the street when no one's looking. They're brave only when they outnumber the muslim.

They beat down the lone muslim just for kicks. They burn christian missionaries and rape nuns to preserve status quo so that the poor cannot escape the caste system into another faith. Police and courts do not see it as a major problem, and it really isn't. Not as big as when a group of muslims goes on a rampage. That can bring a city to its knees. What is glaringly self damaging is the video. Fucking fools.

Now who will explain to these illiterate fucks where in the world Christchurch is and what happens when you televise this shit.

Iraq
Iraq won't let US strike Iran from its territory
[RT] Baghdad will not allow Washington to use its military bases to launch an attack on Iran, the country's president stressed, thrashing Donald Trump's warmongering policies towards the Islamic Republic.

“We do not want our territory to be a staging post for any hostile action against any of our neighbors, including Iran,” Iraq's President Barham Salih told CNN, noting that there is no agreement between Baghdad and Washington that could make Donald Trump think he can use it as such.
That's nice. Fortunately we have those lovely aircraft carrier groups nearby, not to mention bases in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and elsewhere. You just go back to practicing being a satrapy of the Medes and the Persians, ‘k?

Iraq’s oil exports reach 110 million barrels in May: ministry
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) ‐ The Iraqi Oil Ministry said on Tuesday that it exported more than 110 million barrels of crude oil in May, bringing in revenues of over $7 billion.

"Iraq’s total exports of crude oil in May reached about 110,737,293 barrels, bringing in revenues of 7.2 billion dollars," Iraqi website Alghad Press quoted the ministry front man, Asim Jihad, as saying in a press statement.

The average selling price was 66.190 dollars per barrel last month, the statement said.

"Iraq exported 106.6 million barrels from the country’s central and southern oil fields, and 3.16 million barrels from the northern province of Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
in addition to 894,528 barrels of oil from Qayyara oil field," it added.

Iraq, the second-largest producer in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, exported 3.466 million barrels per day (bpd) in April.

Iraq is producing below its maximum capacity of nearly 5 million bpd in line with a production-cutting agreement between OPEC and allies such as Russia aimed at supporting prices.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Countries pledge $110 million for UN Palestinian agency
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] More than $110 million was raised Tuesday at a pledging conference to support the UN agency for Paleostinian refugees UNRWA, which has been struggling since the United States slashed funding.
pledges do not equal actual currency
UNRWA chief Pierre Kraehenbuehl said the funding would allow the agency, which provides education and health services to Paleostinians, to cover costs for the coming months and avoid a budget crisis.

Around 35 countries took part in the conference, mostly Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an and Arab nations, with the biggest contributions coming from the EU, Germany, and Britannia.

The conference was held on the same day as President Donald Trump
...the Nailer of NAFTA...
’s administration unveiled the economic component of a long-awaited Middle East peace plan, at a workshop in Bahrain.

The US plan dangles the prospect of $50 billion of investment in the Paleostinian territories and neighboring Arab countries over 10 years.

Last year, the Trump administration cut all funding to UNRWA, arguing that it was flawed as Washington pressed ahead with work on proposals for an Israeli-Paleostinian solution.

US Middle East advisor Jason Greenblatt in May told the Security Council that the agency should be dismantled and its services handed over to countries hosting the Paleostinian refugees and NGOs.

Kraehenbuehl welcomed the pledge of $110 million, saying it was an "important amount" but said UNRWA would be seeking more funding to cover its annual budget of $1.2 billion in September.

"We hope this allows us to bridge a lot of the needs that we have in the next three to four months," he told news hounds.

Israel raises alert levels over Iranian threat in Syria, Lebanon
[ALMASDARNEWS] Israel’s military has stepped up its alert status amid rising tensions between the US and Iran, according to a Sunday report by Israeli TV station Channel 12.

The Times of Israel noted the report cited no sources, only saying the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had “completed a series of steps in recent days to ensure that it can respond to any developments, including any attempt by Iran to hit Israel, either from Gaza, Lebanon or Syria.”

Olde Tyme Religion
'Arab world is losing its religion in response to Islamists – but misogyny, homophobia and approval for 'honour killings' is still rife
"We're keeping all the fun parts"
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • In the last six years those who said they were 'not religious' rose from 8% to 13% across the Arab world

  • The change was more pronounced in countries which went through Arab Spring, including Tunisia and Libya

  • The data suggests a backlash against Islamist factions taking control after the removal of secular dictators

  • But longstanding views on homosexuals and females remains largely unmoved despite a decrease in faith

#1  the 'not religious' question did have two points to work with

the misogyny, etc. questions seem to only have been part of the second survey

of course you could say that misogyny, etc. is actually part, maybe the most important part, of the religion
Posted by: lord garth || 06/26/2019 6:04 Comments || Top||

#2  True. Misogyny is an intrinsic part of Arab culture, even pre-islam. Misogyny, malanthropy, feud, murder, loot and domination - to justify these very traits of dysfunctional communities and take political advantage of them was the cult established. These things can never be subtracted from islam or any derivative of it, because they are the substratum on which the entire ideology stands.

I'm all for introducing atheism, gay rights, abortion, drug addled navel gazing and other 'progressive' concepts to all muslims.

#3  I daresay they _have_ been introduced to those concepts, with the lie that this is what the West is about, by the radical factions who rely on the resulting revulsion to keep the masses loyal to "Pure Islam." The radicals' job is made easier by our elites, who seem to dislike the West as much as the Wahabbis do.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran’s air defense missiles must be taken seriously, experts say
[IsraelTimes] Tehran’s downing of a sophisticated US drone – albeit a large, slow one – shows it knows how to use its missile systems, though it still lags far behind US capabilities.

According to the Military Balance — an annual publication by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) — Iran has 32 batteries of Russian-made S-300 ground-to-air missiles that have been delivered by Moscow since 2016. They are seen as posing a serious threat.

The Islamic Republic has also developed Iranian versions of these missile systems, including the Bavar 373, SAM Tabas and SAM Raad which are regularly displayed at military parades.

The Revolutionary Guards claim that they shot down the US drone with a Khordad 3 missile, a version of the SAM Raad.

Iran foreign minister accuses US’ Bolton of plotting for war
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif accused US National Security Adviser John Bolton of plotting for war against Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
in a tweet on Tuesday.

"Wanna know why those with proven record of detesting diplomacy are suddenly interested in talks? Just read @AmbJohnBolton’s 2017 recipe for destroying the #JCPOA," Zarif wrote, adding a link to a 2017 article written by Bolton in the National Review. The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA, is the landmark 2015 nuclear deal Iran signed with world powers.

"Iran never left the negotiation table. #B_Team dragged the US out, while plotting for war," Zarif added.

Zarif has in the past said that a "B-team" including Bolton, an ardent Iran hawk, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, could goad Trump into a conflict with Tehran.

Trump threatens Iran with ‘obliteration’ after leader’s barb
[NYPOST] Apparently stung by the Iranian president’s barb that his White House was "mentally retarded," an angry President Trump on Tuesday again threatened the country with "obliteration."

"Iran’s very ignorant and insulting statement, put out today, only shows that they do not understand reality. Any attack by Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
on anything American will be met with great and overwhelming force. In some areas, overwhelming will mean obliteration. No more John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, unsuccessful presidential candidate, and utterly failed Secretary of State...
& Obama!" the commander-in-chief wrote, referring to two of the architects of the Iranian nuke deal that he pulled the US out of.

In a televised address earlier Tuesday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said sanctions against the country’s leaders were meaningless because the holy man had no assets abroad, before insulting Team Trump.

"The White House actions mean it is mentally retarded. Tehran’s strategic patience does not mean we have fear," a defiant Rouhani said.

Trump, in another of a series of tweets slamming the Islamic Theocratic Republic, asserted that Iran’s leaders don’t know the meaning of the word "nice."

"Iran leadership doesn’t understand the words ’nice’ or ’compassion,’ they never have. Sadly, the thing they do understand is Strength and Power, and the USA is by far the most powerful Military Force in the world, with 1.5 Trillion Dollars invested over the last two years alone," he boasted.

He then blamed Iran’s leadership for betraying their own citizens, who are suffering as a result of tough US sanctions that Trump has slapped on the regime, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

"The wonderful Iranian people are suffering, and for no reason at all. Their leadership spends all of its money on Terror, and little on anything else. The US has not forgotten Iran’s use of IED’s & EFP’s (bombs), which killed 2000 Americans, and maimed many more," Trump continued.
