BLUF: [Hot Air] DeMint thinks he’s found that way.
He signed on this week as senior adviser to the Convention of the States Project. All that group wants to do is to get at least 38 states to rise up and amend the United States Constitution.
Now, before you say, yeh, right, like that’s ever gonna happen... Actually, go ahead, say it.
You’re right, it seems like a long-shot, a very looong-shot. But one of the unique strengths of the Founding Fathers’ government is its built-in ability to self-restore, especially if driven by popular movements.

You can sell it to the States on one amendment - bar any federal entity from imposing spending on any State for any federal sponsored program - see Mandates. If the feds want a program, they can pay for it (and raise the taxes or inflate the money, thus taking full responsibility).

I always though a neutron bomb sounded like the perfect solution.

Maybe Oliver Cromwell could be resurrected and sent to Washington to march in and clean out the scallywags. After Cromwell died, he was dug up and hanged and beheaded. The Donks are already trying to do that to Trump while he is alive.

Re an Article V approach: There should be safeguards in place ssuch that a runaway convention did not occur. There should be concern that the convention was not co-opted by the left to push their pet agendas. The convention should be directed at restoring the power of the States although I thought the 10th Amendment was supposed to do that. The problem is that we are dealing with a bunch of anti constitutionalists in some of the states and activist Federal judges.

... Unfortunately, even if you could shepherd this past all the pitfalls (and they will be many and manifold), I would bet the house payment that there are Federal judges out there who would find the whole thing unconstitutional.

Of course they will. See - Scorpion and Frog. That's why its a 2 part process, it still has to go to the states for ratification. The Left Coast and Eastern Coasties don't have enough to make 3/4ths* necessary for it to be changed in their favor. That's why they've used the Judiciary to implement the Equal Rights amendment that failed ratification.
* ignorant of the original constitutional convention, they don't grasp the big states vs little states issue and the compromises needed to resolve it.
