Schweizer: ‘Commercial Relationship' Between Putin, Podesta Took Place During the Obama ‘Russian Reset'
[Breitbart] Thursday on Fox News Channel’s "Tucker Carlson Tonight," Breitbart editor at large Peter Schweizer, also the author of "Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich," laid how Hillary Clinton ally John Podesta had ties to the Russian government before and while serving in the Obama administration.

Transcript as follows:
Schweizer follows the money.

#3  Origins of the Clinton-Russian reset... in my opinion:

In July 1971, President Nixon's National Security Advisor Henry Kissinger secretly visited Beijing during a trip to Pakistan, and laid the groundwork for Nixon's visit to China. Wiki

Kissinger (and the Communist Chinese) are still harvesting the financial dividends of that event.

#4  Russia was a cash cow for the Clintons and the Clinton Foundation during the Obummer administration. We're still waiting out here for a real investigation of the corruption to be prosecuted and cleaned up from the last administration. That's what 2016 was about (as well as preservation of the country.)

#6  It's always projection with the left isn't it!

And 'projection' is such an effective cover for action, particularly when you're on the cusp of losing a presidential election. A bit more difficult to cover your sins as a private citizen. Not impossible, but more difficult.

#7  (do I need to put a /sarc on that?)

Always, please, dear Procopius2k. I am a comment literalist, and that lack of clarification has on occasion lead to me needing to apologise for reading the words as they were written. To be fair, I sometimes don't pick up such subtleties in face-to-face conversation as well, so my apologizer is highly polished.

Arabia
Yemen: All Muddled On The Western Front
Just the opening paragraph:
[StrategyPage] The war in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
has morphed into two separate conflicts. In the northwest and along the Red Sea coast it is Iran-backed sock puppets of the Medes and the Persians versus the Yemeni government backed by Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
(and their local allies plus the United States). The rest of Yemen is a fight between Yemeni government (backed by the Saudi coalition) and Yemeni tribal separatists (backed by al Qaeda). At the same time Yemen has serious economic and social problems that are getting worse because of all the unrest since 2011 (and outright civil war since 2015). Before the civil war began in 2011 the Yemeni GDP was $37 billion. Now it is less than half that and falling. Hunger and disease are increasing as are associated deaths. Foreign aid efforts are often plundered by locals. Yemen has long been considered one of the most corrupt nations on the planet. In 2016 Yemen ranked 170th out of 176 countries. Most Yemenis will agree that corruption is a major problem. Yet most Yemenis are less willing to admit that Yemen is not a country but rather a collection of tribes that don’t get along and cannot agree on how to work together to make a united Yemen work.

Economy
Victor Davis Hanson: Will California Ever Thrive Again?
[IBD] There was more of the same old, same old California news recently. Some 62% of state roads have been rated poor or mediocre. There were more predictions of huge cost overruns and yearly losses on high-speed rail -- before the first mile of track has been laid. One-third of Bay Area residents were polled as hoping to leave the area soon.

Such pessimism is daily fare, and for good reason.

The basket of California state taxes -- sales, income and gasoline -- rates among the highest in the U.S. Yet California roads and K-12 education rank near the bottom.

After years of drought, California has not built a single new reservoir. Instead, scarce fresh aqueduct water is still being diverted to sea. Thousands of rural central California homes, in Dust Bowl fashion, have been abandoned due to a sinking aquifer and dry wells.

One in three American welfare recipients resides in California. Almost a quarter of the state population lives below or near the poverty line. Yet the state's gas and electricity prices are among the nation's highest.

One in four state residents was not born in the U.S. Current state-funded pension programs are not sustainable.

#8  Yes, DV, Governor Brown is a huge problem. The money being squandered on his pie in the sky high speed railroad is bad enough. But then the legislature keeps giving our money to people who shouldn't even be here. I have suspected for a long time that the majority of our legislators take their orders from Mexico City.

Europe
Giuliani to EU: You'd Be ‘Far Stronger' Without ‘Socialist Economies'
[PJ] Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani applauded President Trump’s Warsaw speech for kicking NATO "in the ass" and waking it up.

"I have friends that, I won’t mention the countries, that say the countries contributed observers, not soldiers" during the Iraq war, Giuliani said at Global Forum 2017 in Warsaw on Thursday. "So somebody has to kick NATO in the ass and wake it up ‐ wake it up to the fact that we all have to contribute and we have an existential threat of, and notice he used the words ’Islamic extremist terrorism.’ Our prior president of eight years never used those words ‐ really important to defeat an enemy to identify them."

"If you can identify them you are halfway on the way to defeating them if you have the kind of resources that we have," added Giuliani, a Trump surrogate during the campaign. "Here’s the thing that surprised me and that I loved about the speech ‐ it was a ringing endorsement of Western civilization and, boy, do we need that."

Home Front: Culture Wars
Culture of fear
My heading is, as too often, inspired by a morning squint through the news. The phrase came up a couple of times; I had seen it before. I gather Trumpf’s gauleiters have been trying to isolate the leakers of (often fake) state secrets, from deep within the vast Washington bureaucracy. This, preparatory to firing and prosecuting them. A "culture of fear" has been thereby created, I suppose because the great majority of bureaucrats are Smug Left, and on the side of the leakers. Most would not themselves leak, however: they have not the cojones. Nevertheless they feel a "chilling effect," according to the usual Smug Left media. Good news: I’m all for refrigerating these people.

One of the more important functions of civilization, is to create a "culture of fear" among criminal malefactors, and have upon their actions a "chilling effect."

#1  And why give the sick seedy anarchists of Europe a place to congregate? Except for the purpose of performing a cull?

Excellent question. The caveat however, should not be strictly limited to European anarchists.

#2  The author differentiates between "protesters" and "rioters."

I agree with the authors solution to rioters.

#1  If she doesn't feel safe she's gonna quit...after being fired for attitude. Strong rationalization for redirecting the cause of her job loss.

There was a time when you could just knock down someone getting in your face, and the problem went away. Now she can record her wrathful failure and show it to the world, remotely.

I hope to see her in a little hat and green apron.
