CBC bitch and moan over Allen West's Chick-Fil-A lunch
It happened six months ago, but dear Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) didn't get around to complaining about it 'til now.

#1  The Honorable Allen West is devoutly religious and is not shy about letting people know that. The heathen will just have to get over it. :-)

#5  Well, Rep. Hastings was impeached, tried, and removed from office for taking bribes as a Judge. That he was acquitted in criminal court was a travesty. That the Senate did not disqualify him from holding any Office of Public Trust was a bad oversight.

Why would Rep. West talk with him?

#6  I took the family to CFA last Saturday for dinner after my son's lacrosse game...the food is always good, the place is always clean, and my kids love the play-land there. The fact that I supported the 1st Amendment rights of a private business owner makes it a hat-trick in my book.

#7  WRT the Article, this is not even news worthy (not surprised it's from huff-po) & Hastings sounds like a petulant child...no wonder West won't associate w/him...be happy West bought you a free meal, @sshole.

#3  Whether this guy really did this for the Obamateur is not clear to me from the article. That he did obstruct justice does seem pretty clear. Just another politico in a tree-suit. We have far too many of them these days methinks. I had hoped the current wars would have weeded those guys out and toughened up the country. Unfortunately I was dead-wrong on both counts. 5yrs until retirement.

-Election 2012
Romney calls on Reid to reveal source
[Fox News] Willard Mitt Romney
...former governor of Massachussetts, currently the presumptive Publican nominee for president. He is the son of the former governor of Michigan, George Romney, who himself ran for president after saving American Motors from failure, though not permanently. Romney's charisma is best defined as soporific. On the plus side, he isn't President B.O...
called on Harry Reid
... the charismatic senator-for-life from Nevada, currently majority leader ...
... rumored by some to be guilty of pederasty, but you know how rumors get started when someone starts spouting on and on ...

Tuesday to reveal the source for his claim that the Republican presidential candidate has not paid taxes for 10 years, stepping up pressure as two major fact-check sites ruled Reid had no basis for the "incendiary" allegation.

Romney, in an interview with Fox News, said he doesn't believe Reid has a credible source but urged the Senate Democratic leader to reveal who it is.

"I don't really believe that he's got any kind of a credible source," Romney said. "I don't know who gave him this line of reasoning, whether it came from the White House or the DNC or a staffer, but he ought to say where it came from, and then we can find out whether that person has any credibility. I know they don't."

He said Reid also has "lost a lot of credibility."

Romney's latest comments came as two major fact-check sites knocked down Reid's comments, which the senator amplified by repeating them last week on the Senate floor. Reid has said his source is an investor with Romney's former venture capital company Bain.

But PolitiFact wrote that it is "far-fetched" to believe Romney paid no taxes for 10 years. Further, the article stated the obvious -- "Reid has produced no evidence to back up his claim other than attribution to a shadowy anonymous source."

PolitiFact concluded: "Reid has made an extreme claim with nothing solid to back it up." They gave the accusation a "Pants on Fire!" rating.

Harry Reid's office denies retirement report
[Washington Examiner] Following up on my post from earlier this afternoon, Nevada political observer and Las Vegas Sun columnist Jon Ralston got an official statement from the office of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid
... the charismatic senator-for-life from Nevada, currently majority leader ...
... rumored by some to be guilty of pederasty, but you know how rumors get started when someone starts spouting on and on ...
,
D-Nev., regarding the Washington Post's report today that he intends to retire at the end of his current term:

Response from Reidworld to Milbank-fueled speculation: "The is purely baseless speculation. Of course he is running again."

That would indicate that Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank simply erred when he wrote in his column today:

Reid, who won reelection in 2010 and doesn't plan to run for office again, is happy to absorb blows in return -- and they have been ferocious.

Milbank's claim was eyebrow-raising because the majority leader had not previously given any indication he plans to step down. No word so far from Milbank on whether he stands by his claim or this was a simple goof.

Campaign: Warren misspoke on demand for 20 years of Brown tax returns
[Boston Herald] Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren's campaign said today that she misspoke when she said Republican Sen. Scott Downtown Scotty Brown should release 20 years of tax returns.

Brown's campaign accused Warren of "backpedaling and hypocrisy."

Warren made the comments Monday night at an appearance in Worcester to celebrate the opening of a campaign office.

"I think Scott Brown should release his tax returns for all the years he's been in public service," Warren said according to the website GoLocalWorcester.com. "He's been in public service for 20 years, then he should have 20 years of tax returns."

Earlier this year, Brown released six years of tax returns. Warren released four.

Voters Turned Away As Citizenship Box Creates Confusion At The Polls
Some voters have reportedly been turned away from the polls on Michigan's primary election day for refusing to fill out the new "citizenship" box on their ballot application.

Jocelyn Bensen, Director of the Michigan Center for Election Law, said they've been taking calls from intentionally confused voters across the state regarding this issue. She's criticizing the Secretary of State's office for failing to remind clerks that voters who decline to fill out the citizenship box must still be allowed to cast a ballot.

"It has been the number one issue that we received calls on this morning," Bensen told WWJ Newsradio 950. "And that's why we contacted the Secretary of State's office's again today, urging the office to issue a clarifying statement, which they finally did at around noon."

A spokesperson for the Secretary of State's office said clerks at "some precincts" were reminded about how to handle the citizenship question.

Van Jones: Nancy Pelosi is 'greatest ever'
[Politico] As far as Van Jones is concerned, who is the best person in Washington? Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi.
Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of politicians. Formerly Speaker of the House, but it's not her fault they lost. Really. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace...
He'll even go a step further.

"I think Nancy Pelosi is the greatest person ever," Jones says in an interview with the YouTube channel THNKR. "She is strong. She's tough. She's smart. She gets beat up in the press and nobody sticks up for her and says, 'Hold on a second, everything you don't like about the Democrats -- you think the Democrats are too weak -- would be a thousand times worse if we didn't have Nancy Pelosi, who's been the backbone throughout this whole last couple of years.' I desperately want her to get that speaker's gavel back."

Jimmy Carter to address DNC by video
[Charlotte Observer] Former President Jimmy Carter
... the worst president ever. Maybe the second worst. The votes aren't all in yet...
won't be coming to Charlotte but he'll speak to Democratic convention delegates by video on the event's first night.

Officials said this morning that Carter will speak in prime time on Tuesday night, Sept. 4.

"Rosalynn and I regret that we will be unable to be at the Democratic Convention this year in Charlotte," Carter, 87, said in a statement. "However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
we remain steadfast in our support for President B.O. and the progress he will make in the next four years."
