Obama speaks at Dallas memorial service honoring five officers killed in shooting
[WASHINGTONPOST] Obama praised coppers and sharply criticized those who would paint all police as bigoted or seek violence against law enforcement, yet he also acknowledged the very real fear and pain among black Americans who have felt targeted or mistreated by officers.

"We ask police to do too much and we ask too little of ourselves," Obama said during his 40-minute remarks, which capped an emotional service just a mile from where the five officers were killed last week.

Even as he spoke of unity, there were still tangible signs of a rift between protesters and police. Obama was interrupted by applause when he spoke in a concert hall filled with law enforcement officials about those officers killed last Thursday, but the families of those officers did not clap when he spoke about the "Black Lives Matter" protests or invoked the killings in Minnesota and Louisiana.

"Your work, the work of coppers across the country, is like no other," Obama said. "From the moment you put on that uniform, you have answered a call that at any moment, even in the briefest interaction, may put your life in harm’s way."

Consoling a nation after a violent episode has become familiar ground for Obama, whose presidency has been marked by tragedies and attacks in places such as a school in Newtown, Conn.; a church in Charleston, S.C; an office holiday party in San Bernardino, Calif.; and many others.

"I’m not naive," Obama said. "I’ve spoken at too many memorials during the course of this presidency. I’ve hugged too many families that lost a loved one to senseless violence."

Obama said he has seen how inadequate words can be at spurring change, but said that if America "is to honor these five outstanding officers we lost," then the country must be honest about confronting its challenges going forward.

He rejected any suggestion that all police are biased or bigoted and pilloried people who, with their words, call for violence against officers. But he said that even though race relations have improved dramatically, "we know that bias remains." Still, Obama said that people simply cannot dismiss protesters and those questioning law enforcement tactics.

Obama echoed what the Dallas police chief said a day earlier about officers being asked to take on too much, saying that too great a burden is placed on police departments.

Proverbs 6:16-19King James Version (KJV)

16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

ZF, how about some lyrics matching the old Billy Joel tune 'We Didn't Start the Fire' to 'We started the Fire'.

#7  JohnQC Former President George Bush gave a real speech honoring the fallen at the memorial service. To me it was a stunning comparison between the two - Bush was resolute and compassionate to the family, Obama made an attempt to memorialize and then launched into a political pontification that demonstrated his smallness.

Mr. Bush spoke directly and truely to the family, their loss was not fair, we all do not share equally in their loss, this was a memorial for their fallen and their sacrifice. A sacrifice for the love of their brothers and sisters in blue, and the price they pay for their servant leadership.

Barry....I wanted him to do well here...then I saw him haunching over himself, elbows on knees...like I was watching the opening to Grand Torino.

Really everyone showed a dynamic personality except Barry. He is just so....uninteresting. I ad-libbed his speech as he talked nearly point by point, so uninteresting.

AG Lynch refuses to explain prosecution decision on Clinton emails
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Attorney General Loretta Lynch said Tuesday she won’t answer any more questions about her decision not to prosecute Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as America's Blond Eminence and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Dean Acheson ...
for her mishandling of classified information, saying only that it would be "inappropriate" for her to get into details.

She put the onus on FBI Director James Comey, saying that she accepted his recommendation -- but she refused to say how she herself saw the information.

"I would have to refer you to Director Comey," she said.

Ms. Lynch couldn’t even recall how long her meeting with Mr. Comey to review his report lasted, though she insisted it was "thorough."

DNC Staffer Seth Rich Shot Dead in the Back in DC, Just Hours After Calling For Dallas Unity
[HEATST] A young idealist who worked for the Democratic National Committee was murdered early Sunday as he walked home in the Bloomingdale neighborhood in affluent Northwest Washington D.C.

Seth Rich, 27, was shot multiple times including twice in the back. His mother Mary Rich told the local NBC station that her son was found with bruises on his face, knees and hands ‐ signs that he fought for his life.

"Worst nightmare," she told News4.

According to Mary Rich, Seth was talking on the phone with his girlfriend at the time of the attack and she heard noise on his end of the line. He told her not to worry about it.

Oh my: Federal judge rules Virginia delegates aren’t bound by state law requiring them to vote for Trump
[HOTAIR] Virginia can’t require Republican National Convention delegates to back Donald Trump, a federal judge in Richmond said Monday, though he made no ruling on whether the party can itself bind its delegates.
Following that logic, there's no reason for a primary.
U.S. District Judge Robert Payne said the Virginia state law requiring delegates who oppose Mr. Trump to vote for him next week at the party’s convention creates “a severe burden” on First Amendment rights.

But Judge Payne explicitly avoided weighing in on whether Republican National Committee rules requiring convention delegates to follow the results of their states as dictated by state and national party rules. Judge Payne said he “lacks jurisdiction to adjudicate” the broader unbinding question.

#5  The heads of both parties have come out and said the primaries really don't matter because the party gets to choose, in spite of the vote. Like Trump or not, if the GOP fails to select him it will mark the end of the GOP, and probably the republic as we know it. This is not sky is falling silliness. If the GOP fails here the party will go into disarray and at best dissolve and go through restructure. This will take a number of election cycles to do. The Dems will place libs in the Supreme Court. They will attack everything conservative and we will slide into a more Marxist state. These old Republicans need to understand their antics are delusional and they are placing more than just this election cycle at risk.

Hillary Clinton's Lead Over Trump Shrinks After Controversial Week
[NBCNEWS] Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as The Liberatress of Libya and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Jeremiah S. Black ...
's lead over Donald Trump narrowed to 3 points this week after several days of controversy following FBI Director James Comey's recommendation that no criminal charges be brought against the former secretary of state over her use of a private email server.

While the developments are certainly good news for the Clinton campaign, Comey's critical statement on Clinton's handling of the matter was not positive. Clinton's lead over Trump has tanked in the past couple weeks since her lead peaked two weeks ago.

#2  The Donks are looking more corrupt after this week than ever. Loretta Lynch comes off looking like the political hack she is and who ought to resign because she is impersonating an AG. Hillary comes off looking like the crook, liar and evil person she is. The Justice Department comes off looking like a Donk institution shilling for Hillary. I don't know what Comey is. He claims no party affiliation but he lays out the case for indictment of Hillary and then recommends no indictment. He reinforced the notion that the "fix" was in between Hillary and the DOJ, the Executive Branch and the DNC. About the kindest thing I've heard about the honorable James Comey was suggested by Bill Whittle and that was that Comey might be like a Viet POW who tries to signal clandestinely that he is being used for propaganda purposes by the enemy. He further suggested that Comey knew that the DOJ was never going to indict Hillary. Whittle said Comey knew the only way anything could be done about the email/security debacle was through Congress. Barack Hussein Obama told us months ago there was nothing to see in the Benghazi hearings or Hillary's email server investigation. The people in this country end up getting hosed.

Sanders endorses Clinton, and his hardcore supporters are feeling Berned
[KANSASCITY] The day that Bernie Sanders supporters dreaded finally arrived Tuesday when Sanders endorsed Hillary Clinton for president.

“I intend to do everything I can to make certain she will be the next president of the United States,” Sanders said at a joint rally in New Hampshire.

But this arranged marriage is clearly going to take time for Sanders fans to support. Those loud, last gasps heard all over social media came from millions of passionate Bernie or Bust fans.

Sanders thanked the “13 million Americans” who voted for him during the Democratic primaries but made it “clear as possible” that he is endorsing Clinton.
