Bain Capital and the Lincoln Project
[SaraACarter] Lincoln Project donors include Romney’s Bain Capital and China-linked companies.

The National Pulse reports that the major donors show a list of left-leaning groups, despite the group’s claims that it represents a disenfranchised Republican base.

— Jack Posobiec 🇺🇸 (@ JackPosobiec) February 12, 2021

Hollywood figures, hedge fund managers, Mitt Romney’s firm Bain Capital, and other questionable sources make up the group’s largest donors.

"The list also includes Michael Moritz, a partner at the venture capital firm Sequoia, who donated a sizable sum in three donations in May, June, and July of 2020: one worth $50,000 and two worth $25,000," the Pulse reports.

This morning The National Pulse published the Lincoln Project donor list.

This afternoon the donors backed away from the pedo-friendly group.https://t.co/jBiP6I4qng

See the full list of donors and reporting on the China connections here.

The news comes after reports broke that the FBI is investigating allegations against Lincoln Project co-founder John Weaver.

Meghan McCain, the co-host of the The View and daughter of former U.S. Senator John McCain, said in a Tweet that "John Weaver and Steve Schmidt were so despised by my Dad he made it a point to ban them from his funeral."

"Since 2008, no McCain would have spit on them if they were on fire," she added.

1. I've been very hesitant to comment but since my deceased father keeps getting invoked I will say this:

John Weaver and Steve Schmidt were so despised by my Dad he made it a point to ban them from his funeral. Since 2008, no McCain would have spit on them if they were on fire.
— Meghan McCain (@ Meghan McCain) February 13, 2021

Weaver was accused by at least 21 men last week for sending inappropriate messages and in some instances offering political and employment opportunities for sexual favors.

"John Weaver led a secret life that was built on a foundation of deception at every level," the prominent never-Trump organization said in a statement last week. "He is a predator, a liar, and an abuser. We extend our deepest sympathies to those who were targeted by his deplorable and predatory behavior."

Ted Cruz on impeachment: 'Pelosi can testify as to when she knew about the threats on the Capitol'
[Just the News] Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz said on Saturday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is "clearly" a relevant witness in the impeachment trial of Trump, adding that she could explain when she knew about threats on the U.S. Capitol ahead of the Jan. 6 riot.

"If we do call witnesses, it is not going to be one-sided," Cruz said. "It is not going to be only the House managers get witnesses and President Trump doesn't get witnesses.

"If the House managers call Representative [Jamie] Herrera Beutler, I think it is very likely President Trump's lawyers will call Nancy Pelosi. Nancy Pelosi is clearly a relevant witness to this matter. Speaker Pelosi can testify as to when she knew about the threats on the Capitol, what she knew specifically.

"We heard already that the House sergeant at arms turned down National Guard protection for the Capitol on January 6th because of, quote, the optics. I think Speaker Pelosi can testify as to whether she made a decision based on optics, based on politics, not to have additional protection at the Capitol to prevent the terrorist attack that played out."

Cruz said he personally does not think witnesses are needed in the trial.

Smoking FBI gun: Comey told Clapper FBI unable to 'sufficiently corroborate' Steele ‐ then signed FISA
[Just the News] The very day in January 2017 that then-FBI Director James Comey signed a FISA surveillance warrant application declaring content from Christopher Steele's dossier had been "verified," he wrote President Obama's outgoing intelligence community chief with a very different assessment of the British spy's intelligence on Russia collusion, a newly released memo shows.

"We are not able to sufficiently corroborate the reporting," Comey wrote in a Jan. 12, 2017 email to then-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper that was declassified and made public through an open records lawsuit by the Southeastern Legal Foundation.

The memo recounts an internal debate inside the U.S. intelligence community during one of the most delicate moments in the FBI's then six-month old Crossfire Hurricane probe.

CIA officials had already informed Comey's FBI that the target of the FISA warrant, Carter Page, wasn't a Russian spy but rather an asset helping U.S. intelligence. The bureau had received warnings about Steele and the reliability of his source network, including that it might have been compromised by Russian disinformation. Agents had also just recommended on Jan. 4, 2017 shutting down the probe's inquiry into incoming National Security Adviser Michael Flynn for lack of evidence.

The FBI had been warned the previous summer that Hillary Clinton's campaign may have planted the false Russia collusion story as a way to "vilify" Trump and distract from her email scandal, and agents were about to interview Steele's primary sub-source, who would discount much of the information in the dossier attributed to him as bar talk and unconfirmed rumor not worthy of official intelligence.

Georgia refers 35 cases of election law violations for criminal prosecution
[Washington Examiner] The Georgia State Election Board announced 35 cases of election law violations
...known in vulgar circles as vote fraud...
to the state’s attorney general and local district attorneys for criminal prosecution.

"Election fraud is not tolerated in Georgia. When there is evidence of it, the people responsible face prosecution," said Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. "Georgia has multiple safeguards in place that allow our team of investigators to discover fraudulent voting. They worked to catch the wrongdoing in these cases, and they maintain the security of Georgia elections."

Georgia’s secretary of state’s office has 23 law enforcement officers with arrest powers to investigate allegations of voter fraud and irregularities. They will then present their findings to the Election Board, where it is decided whether violators will be issued fines, a letter of instruction, or be referred for criminal prosecution.

"I think people need to understand that we’re not going to tolerate noncitizens voting and also people double-voting," Raffensperger said during a Thursday TV interview. "The board is not going to have a lot of patience with people willfully defying the laws of Georgia."

Many of the cases were not from the 2020 election,
Oh.
with the state trying to work through a backlog of cases from previous elections, as well.
Clearly vote fraud has not been a priority in Georgia for some time, and they’re only doing the work now because of an excess of outside scrutiny from those dreadful Trumpsters.
Raffensperger expressed confidence that the team’s work will help ease some voters' fears, with confidence in the state’s election security plummeting following the 2020 presidential election.

"What we saw was, the only people that had an impact on were Republicans who were his supporters," Raffensperger said. "Other voters either maintained or increased their confidence in the process."

-Land of the Free
China Joe Uses Parkland Shooting Anniversary to Launch His Anticipated Attack on the Second Amendment
[Red State] Joe Biden used the fourth anniversary of the shootings at Parkland High School in Florida to unveil the beginning of his anticipated anti-gun crusade.

Nothing in Biden’s agenda is new; that doesn’t mean it isn’t dangerous. Biden controls the Congress. He controls the Executive Branch, particularly the Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE), who will carry out rulemaking to make gun ownership as onerous and expensive as possible and then enforce those rules. As an aside, in case you’re coming out of a 30-year coma, we don’t do "laws" anymore. Congress acts like a bunch of monkeys with overactive libidos and no outlet while bureaucrats make "rules" that fine you, deprive you of property and rights, and, if you get out of line, allow the government to imprison or kill you.

To show you how dangerous the ability of BATFE to write rules is, you need to read how thousands of law-abiding gun owners were nearly made into felons by the stroke of a pen in the saga of the short-barreled rifle.

Not only is all official power in the hands of the Democrats. The media are some of the most noxious anti-gunners in the country. The major Second Amendment defense organization, the National Rifle Association, is targeted for prosecution by New York State (didn’t anyone there think being incorporated in one of the most crazily anti-gun states in the union AND then engaging in egregious fraud and self-dealing might not be a great idea? I guess not) and I’m doubtful that it is going to be doing much more than trying to keep former officials out of prison. The John Roberts Supreme Court has been singularly reluctant to accept Second Amendment cases.

It is going to be a tough four years, at least. We can’t depend on the GOP or much of anyone. We need to organize. We need to engage in civil disobedience. We need to engage in lawfare directed at elected individuals to make it clear that getting involved in gun control is very expensive and time-consuming. And we need to start voting anti-Second Amendment fanatics (easy litmus test, if they say "commonsense," they are a school-trained anti-gun nutter) out of office.

#1  Any crisis or anniversary of a sad event must be exploited for street naming, march, rally, national holiday, or political gain.

Manipulation of the media is an essential element of political cover action, and the obscuration of actual facts. In time, Hunter Biden's misdeeds, Dominion algorithms, video taped box stuffing, and overseas voter tabulations will be memory holed.

Perhaps we can then move on.

#5  January 15, 2020:

NRA declares bankruptcy, plans to incorporate in Texas
The announcement came months after New York’s attorney general sued the organization over claims that top executives illegally diverted tens of millions of dollars for lavish personal trips, no-show contracts for associates and other questionable expenditures.

The NRA was chartered in New York State in 1871. That hasn’t been a serious problem until now. I wonder how much of the egregious spending NY Attorney General Letitia James objects to is normal for lobbyists in lobbying mode, how much is typical large charitable organization self-dealing, and how much is actually egregious for the industry. A side by side comparison with, say, the American Red Cross would do the trick, I think.

#8  "Remember last week's arrest of a group of Iranians" I remember back in the 1970s an injured guy was brought to an ER from a bar. He looked like he had been on the wrong end of a fist fight. He claimed he'd been beaten up by "seven Iranians". Police went back to interview witnesses. There weren't even 7 people in the bar where all this happened. Witness interviews all agreed that the man had simply fallen off his barstool, striking his face on the bar and then on the floor. When he came to, he felt so bad that he had to conclude that at least 7 bad Iranians were to blame for his injuries.

Cocaine Mitch deepens GOP civil war by warning he could OPPOSE Trump-backed candidates such as daughter-in-law Lara and Marjorie Taylor Green in favor of 'electable' Republicans
[Daily Mail] Mitch McConnell has said he is open to opposing any 'unelectable' candidates in 2022, even if they are strongly backed by Donald Trump, as he wrestles with how to handle a deeply-divided party following Trump's impeachment hearing.

McConnell voted on Saturday to acquit the former president, but then publicly attacked him, accusing him of a 'disgraceful dereliction of duty' in his most critical remarks ever uttered.

His tightrope walk between defending and demonizing the former president impressed few.

McConnell's home newspaper, The Lexington Herald-Leader, accused him on Sunday of having 'contorted himself into a strange pretzel-shaped politician hated by everyone'.

#6  Senator McConnell was open from the beginning that he didn’t like President Trump, but was open to working with him on items of mutual interest: approving judges and a few specific kinds of bills, like budgets, so long as he got to add the things he wanted. That was part of the reason the president so quickly resorted to executive orders.

It should be noted that the Republican party is not divided. Only Republican politicians are, with the younger ones being almost exclusively in the Trump camp. So every election there should be more Trump-aligned, fighting politicians replacing gentlemanly NeverTrumpers, just as in every election there have been more Republicans in office at the state and local level.

Senator McConnell is 78. His wife, former Transportation secretary Elaine Chao, is 67. Will he really choose to run again in 2026? Will he be able to hold on even that long?

#9  "Politics are the art of the possible." At a more fundamental level, politics is a group of people getting together to decide who gets to give the orders, who agrees to take the orders, and who pays for the whole shebang. If group agreement is not possible, either a fight (war) breaks out, or the group splits up into component factions (they may also separate geographically) until one faction (at least) comes to internal agreement. Then the Iron Law of Bureaucracy takes effect,
Iron Law of Bureaucracy states that in any bureaucratic organization there will be two kinds of people: those who work to further the actual goals of the organization, and those who work for the organization itself. Examples in education would be teachers who work and sacrifice to teach children, vs. union representative who work to protect any teacher including the most incompetent. The Iron Law states that in all cases, the second type of person will always gain control of the organization, and will always write the rules under which the organization functions.

The Biden Immigration Plan Is Leading to a 'Perfect Storm' at the Border
[PJ] Joe Biden’s immigration agenda along with the executive orders he’s already signed are creating a "perfect storm" of conditions at the border for a surge, says Tom Homan, former ICE director.

Biden’s halt to deportations, his dismantling of the "Remain in Mexico" policy and the cancellation of border wall construction are sending powerful signals to the hundreds of thousands of people hoping to enter the U.S. that our borders are a fiction and that entering the United States is just a matter of showing up at the border.

The president is playing with fire and doesn’t appear to have any idea of the forces he is about to unleash.

Dems Include Money for Abortion Providers in $1.9 Trillion COVID Aid Package
[Free Beacon] Tucked inside the Biden administration's $1.9 trillion coronavirus stimulus package is a provision to restore millions in government funding to Planned Parenthood.

The $1.9 trillion stimulus package Democrats say aims to reboot the economy provides a $50 million boost to the Title X family planning program, which under the Biden administration will supply abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood with government funds. The Trump administration had amended Title X to make abortion providers ineligible for the funds, which are intended for health services and family planning, but the change is in the process of being reversed, restoring a giant revenue stream for Planned Parenthood.

While the stimulus is intended to reboot an economy suffering the after-effects of COVID-19 and government restrictions on economic activity, it also features major progressive policy goals. In addition to expanding taxpayer funding for abortion services, the aid package also includes a provision to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. Senate Democrats are planning on using the budget reconciliation process to pass the package, meaning it can pass with just 50 votes in favor and Vice President Kamala Harris breaking the tie.

The boost to the Title X program comes after lengthy battles over Planned Parenthood's role in government funding and stimulus packages. Some states declared abortion to be an essential service and allowed abortion clinics to remain open while others ordered the clinics to close as part of coronavirus-related shutdowns. In Pennsylvania, for example, Gov. Tom Wolf (D.) ordered all elective surgeries suspended during the crisis while exempting abortion clinics. States like Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas all moved to suspend abortion services, prompting legal battles.
