Islamic State member arrested in Baghdad: security command

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi security forces arrested an Islamic State member in Baghdad, the capital’s security command said Thursday as the country continues to hunt for remnant militants cells.

The Baghdad Operations media service said in a statement, quoted by Alsumaria News, that an Islamic State member who had fled Mosul was arrested in al-Doura, south of Baghdad after an ambush was set up upon receiving intelligence information about his existence there.

Civilian killed, two tribal fighters wounded in two blasts in Baghdad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) A civilian was killed, while two tribal fighters were wounded in two bomb blasts in Baghdad, security sources said on Thursday.

“A bomb, placed under a civilian’s vehicle, exploded at al-Haswa region in Abu Ghraib, west of Baghdad,” the source told Baghdad Today. “The civilian succumbed to death after he was transferred to hospital.”

In related news, two tribal fighters were injured as a bomb blast took place in south of the capital.

“A bomb, placed at Sayyid Abdullah village, south of Baghdad, went off,” the source said adding that the explosion targeted a vehicle with two personnel of the Tribal Mobilization Forces on board.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source said that the two personnel were taken to hospital for treatment.
