The Philippine military arrested a man Monday suspected of being a courier for a radical Muslim leader detained in Manila for possible links to Osama bin Laden, as regional governments cracked down on Islamic militants. Lt. Col. Jose Mabanta said he was "one of the couriers and runners" used by the leader of the militant Islamic group Jemaah Islamiah. The Jemaah leader, said to be an Indonesian, was detained last week after a tip from Singaporean authorities. His arrest led to the seizure of explosives, which authorities believe was linked to a plot to bomb Western targets in Singapore. But Indonesian officials said they needed more information to determine the nationality of the 30-year old man known by various aliases, including "Sammy," saying he once lived in Indonesia.
A neat piece of cannon fodder. If they hit him very many times he may tell them some more about his little piece of the terror pie. |
