But in a sign that the government is worried about a backlash from such groups, officials said it would not immediately agree to a U.S. request to extradite the suspected mastermind in the kidnapping of a murdered U.S. reporter. Another senior government official told Reuters that the government was worried about a possible reaction from Islamic militants as a speedy extradition would be seen as caving in to Washington. Call me paranoid if you will, but the timing of the sectarian attacks might indicate an attempt to pressure the government... If they don't turn him over, does that mean the terrorists will have won? Or a Major Government Agency? |
