'No one can force us to remove Modi' |
2002-05-13 |
In an angry outburst, BJP national president Jana Krishnamurthy on Sunday said that neither the media nor the political parties could force the party to remove Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi. Asked whether there were any compulsions preventing the BJP from replacing Modi despite the criticism that the Prime Minister and the image of the country was taking, Krishnamurthy, who is here to attend a two-day meeting of the state BJP executive, said that in a democracy, an elected chief minister could be removed only if he is defeated on the floor of the House or he loses the mandate of the masses at the hustings. No one can force them to be remotely honest, or to have any concern for the inhabitants of the area. No one can force them to be fair, aboveboard, or even nice. But they can make them wish they had. |
