Rumsfeld Says He Has 'Reason to Believe' N.K. Initiated Clash |
2002-07-03 |
Brushing off Pyongyang's claim that the South Korean navy launched a preemptive attack on North Korean vessels in the Yellow Sea, U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said Tuesday the department has 'every reason' to believe that North Korean ships initiated the clash. Speaking on last weekend's bloody naval clash to reporters in a daily briefing, Rumsfeld said, 'It is pretty clear that the North Korean vessel came south into areas that are beyond the demilitarized zone... And needless to say, the North is saying that it was instigated by the South.' Hmmm... Lessee, here. It was stupid, brutal, and being blamed on the U.S... Sounds pretty typical for the North Koreans. They still have their love of discussing things with axes. |
