| Lashkar-e-Jhangvi planned to assassinate Perv |

| While confessing to an abortive plot to kill General Musharraf and other high ranking government officials, two die-hard members of outlawed Lashkar-e-Jhangvi disclosed that the name of the President was on their hit list but the plot could not be materialised owing to stringent security arrangements. The suicidal attack was planned during the public meeting of General Musharraf at Karachi on the eve of the referendum but it had to be cancelled due to the strict security measures and for fear of killing of hundreds innocent people. The plot was devised after banning the religious parties and Jehadi outfits by the president. The confession was made by a member of the banned outfit, Atta ur Rehman alias Naeem Bokhari before Rangers Field Security Wing on Thursday during the course of interrogation. This fellow being a member of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, I'd imagine the security measures were much more of a concern than a little matter like knocking off a few hundred rubes. What's a few gallons of blood in the streets compared to achieving... achieving... whatever the hell it is that they want. |
