| Powell and N. Korean Hold Informal Meeting |

| Secretary of State Colin L. Powell held informal talks with his North Korean counterpart, Paek Nam Sun, here this morning, the Bush administration's first high-level contact with a representative of an "axis of evil" country. Both men came to this regional summit saying they hoped to have what would be a ground-breaking meeting. It was unclear whether the 15-minute chat, held in the delegates' lounge outside the Asian regional security forum the two men are attending here, was substantive enough to constitute that bilateral talk. But there were some indications they might meet again. 15 entire minutes? Hell, that's lotsa time for a substantive meeting... "Hey, Colin!" |
