| French police have arrested 10 suspected members of the Basque group ETA in what Spanish government officials described Friday as one of the biggest blows against the armed organization. Among those arrested in the raids over the past 24 hours in southwest France was Ibon Fernandez de Iradi, considered the military leader of ETA, which has killed more than 800 people in its 34-year campaign for independence of Basque regions in northern Spain and southwestern France. That's not going to make ETA go away, but at least it'll make some of ETA go away for awhile... |
