American soldiers are already operating in northern Iraq, according to Kurdish sources quoted by a Deutsche Welle correspondent. One logistics unit - not combat troops - was located about 100 kilometres north of the city of Arbil; another was in the province of Suleimaniya. They were apparently setting up radar facilities.
Humm, now why would they be setting up radar? AWACS will be covering this region better than ground based systems. More likely they saw them setting up a satellite communications antenna, they look alike to a untrained eye. |
