| Saudi police ’foil terror attack’ |

| Scare quotes courtesy Beebs. Saudi police have foiled a car bomb attack in the capital Riyadh, state television has reported. A Saudi interior ministry official said two suspected militants were killed during a shoot-out with police. He said the incident happened at noon (0900GMT), "as the terror operation... was about to be carried out". The official said the attack was timed for the start of the three-day Eid al-Fitr holiday, which marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. |

| #1 I don't know that the Saudis gain anything by faking that they have carbombers loose in the capital. Sort of discourages necessary foriegners from sticking around. |
