UK Business Turning Against EU Constitution: Blair referendum may lose

#2   The EU SupraNation was originally an idealistic belief that the common political, social, cultural heritage of Europe was greater than differ between individual countries. As the Euro elites have wandered ever further into intellectual fantasy-lands,the elites have come to believe they must have the EU both to impose their theories on the masses and to successfully fight American economic, political and social theories. To date the elites and the "people" have had an informal understanding-the people will go along w/whatever the elites say,so long as the people get a decent job, that's not too time-consuming,adequate health care, assured retirement coverage,etc.Now,w/various European economies in the tank(and no longer able to blame Cold War military budgets for any problems),the people are being told they can't get the benefits they were promised. This is the brewing Euro crisis. If the elites are no longer able to deliver, the people will stop listening and revolt against the elites.

#1  Its going to one hell of an interesting 12 months. The post cold war realignment of interests and alliances continues. As the centre of gravity of the EU moves East, the UK looks to the West.
