In Payatas (Philippines) they voted in toilets |
2004-05-10 |
You canât make this up. EFL. Four toilets in an elementary school in Payatas were used as polling precincts Monday for lack of classrooms. Marivic Panganiban, the principal of Payatas A. Elementary School, said it was the third time the toilets, each having an area of 1 1/2 by 2 1/2 meters, were used as polling areas. Each accommodates six voters. âWe have no choice, because we donât have enough space,â Panganiban said. The school also has no open spaces for the construction of temporary precincts. Payatas voters would not have used the four toilets at the Mathay Building had the Quezon City government finished the construction of the four-story Belmonte Building on time. âIt should have been completed after six to eight months, but over a year now since it started, construction is still going on,â she said. |
