Palestinians play down UN ’ban’ (Ban? What ban? Did we say ban?)
2004-07-15

Thursday, 15 July, 2004, 03:57 GMT 04:57 UK
The Palestinian envoy to the United Nations has tried to play down claims that the UN envoy to the Middle East is banned from Palestinian territory. "We are not kicking out anybody. No decision was taken whatsoever," Nasser Al-Kidwa said. Earlier, Palestinian officials said the UN’s Terje Roed-Larsen was "unwelcome" after he criticised the Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat. He accused them of failing to establish law and order in the Palestinian areas. Mr Roed-Larsen described Yasser Arafat as lending only "partial and nominal" support to Egyptian efforts to reform Palestinian security services as part of the roadmap peace plan.
Truth. It must be used sparingly in PaleoLand, else seething and banning ensue.

#4  Arafish is nearing the edge of no return from the black hole of ME politics.

I expect he will be skinny again for a milisecond.

#3  Jordans gotten burned in the past, and sometime back in the '80s attempted to wash their hands of the whole thing. OTOH anarchy, or Hamas rule, in the West Bank is so threatening to them that they have a hard time avoiding being dragged back in. Its my impression that theyre looking at some role, but not as far along as the Egyptians.

#2  Maybe, .com. Someone has to try to save the Paleos from themselves. Who else would do it? Not Saudi. Would Jordan try?
