Security agencies arrested an Arab and a Pakistani on suspension of having links with Al Qaeda from a house in Sufaid Dher area on the outskirts of Peshawar, sources told Dawn on Sunday. A special team from Islamabad, with the help of Crimes Investigation Department, raided the house of Algerian national Ibrahim alias Rauf and his Pakistani aide Shahid on Saturday night, they said.

Both Al Qaeda suspects were arrested without any resistance, they added.

The agency personnel claimed to have recovered some sensitive documents, CDs, a computer and pistol from their possession. The two had been shacking up living in the locality for two months, the sources said. Ibrahim and Shahid were earlier living in Mardan and shifted to a rented house in Sufaid Dheri two months ago. The agency shifted both the suspects to some unknown location. |
