| More than 100 federal and regional police searched forests in Dagestan on Monday following a gun battle that killed seven people. A police patrol near the village of Talgi, about 10 kilometers southeast of Makhachkala, encountered the armed men in a tent Sunday and a firefight ensued. It was not immediately clear who the men were, but regional police said they had been living in well-equipped tents and appeared to be a highly organized group. |
