| GSPC kills 6 in ambush |

| Suspected Islamic rebels killed six members of a civilian self-defence unit in an ambush in western Algeria, security sources said on Tuesday. The attackers believed to belong to the al Qaeda-aligned Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) used explosives during the ambush that took place on Monday evening in the region of Ain Defla, 180 km (112 miles) west of the capital Algiers. |
