Arab women demand role in governance
2004-12-16
SANAA — More than 70 Arab women from 21 Arab countries who met here in the Yemeni capital criticised ruling governments in Arab countries and the system of inheriting of power. They called for the empowerment of women through the adoption of a 'quota' system in which a minimum 30 per cent of power in the decision making process, including the legislation, executive and the judiciary, would be reserved for women by 2010.
"Brazen hussies! Why, it ain't in the Holy Qu'ran, and Mo' hisself (PTUI) said they weren't good fer nuttin' 'cept sex ... not that I'd know nuttin' 'bout that 'cause I'm dumb as a rock and twice as poor ... but I gots my AK and that's good 'nuff fer me!"

#3  Given a snifta of real power and actual personal independance, arab women are our best allies.

they have nothing to lose in progress and everything to lose by going back to the old way.

#2  There is a 25% quota in the new Iraqi parliament, I believe, though I don't know about one in Afghanistan.

#1  If they have passports and can travel without their keepers (males who are father, husband, or brother) then they don't actually represent Arab wymyns. Quota. Right. That's the ticket. And you can hold your breath, too, if you wanna. You just better be wearin' that Frederick's outfit I ordered last month when I get back from my massage / warm-up handjob, pet.
