JAMMU, India - Two teenage girls were killed and 17 people were wounded in Indian Kashmir when a bomb planted by Muslim separatists went off at a Hindu wedding, police said on Thursday. "This blast was caused by an improvised explosive device. It was planted by separatists at the marriage function," a police officer told Reuters.

The explosion took place late on Wednesday at a Hindu wedding feast in Lower Matta village, 145 km (90 miles) north of Jammu, the winter capital of India's Jammu and Kashmir state. Fourteen of the wounded were taken by military helicopters to Jammu for treatment, Senior Superintendent of Police J.L. Sharma said.

''Infiltration is likely to increase in view of the melting of snow on mountain ranges along the LoC in J&K. As many as 1,800-2,000 militants are stationed on launching pads along the loc- ready to cross to this side to keep the pot of militancy boiling,'' officials said.

#1 I read somewhere that an analysis of the recent National Report on Terrorism shows that 40% or more of all worldwide terror attacks are attributable to the Kashmir conflict. Seems to me that one of these days this thing spills over (or as in the new sexy lexicon - ''tips over'') and gets us involved. Lets pray that India and Pakland learn to handle their problems on the cricket pitch and not here.
