Indonesian Terror Attacks: Death Toll Currently 19
2005-05-28
Up to 19 people have been kiled in a bomb attack in the Indonesian province of Central Sulawesi, according to police. The blast took place in the town of Tentena at a busy street market, said Wayan, a policeman from the neighbouring town of Poso. More than 20 others were injured, he told AFP.

Tentena is part of a region where clashes between Muslims and Christians broke out in the late 1990s and raged for several years, killing 2,000 people.

#2  "It is not clear who were the perpetrators of Saturday’s violence."

Gee. Is it okay if I take a wild-assed guess?

#1  from the Jakarta Post....
Tentena is considered as a safe haven for Christians, and many from out of town had found sanctuary there in the past to avoid the violent communal conflicts with the Muslim population.

The latest explosions took place only a few weeks after the hardline leaders of the two conflicting communities made peace with each other in public view. In April, Ustadz Adnal Artad, the commander of the War Mujahiddin, and Reverend Renaldi Damanik, the head of the Central Sulawesi Christian Church, hugged each other to bury the hatchets.

It is not clear who were the perpetrators of Saturday’s violence.
