The report says political violence accounted for 25 deaths and injury to 549 people. One hundred and thirty-three people were also arrested. Ninety-four women and children were raped, with 21 of them murdered. The report also says 19 cases of acid violence were reported in May. Fourteen of the victims were women. One journalist was killed, 14 injured, 1 abducted, 2 assaulted and 14 given death threats. The law enforcers arrested two journalists while cases were filed against five. The Bureau of Human Rights, Bangladesh has, meanwhile, claimed 274 people were killed in May, up from 201 in April. | |
