Kuwaiti court clears former Guantanamo detainee |

Al Mutairi's lawyer had previously argued that Kuwait lacked jurisdiction to try the Kuwaiti national. "He was acquitted because nothing could be proven against him," attorney Mubarak Al Shimmiri said yesterday. The case against Al Mutairi was withdrawn fully from US investigations, he said. |

#2 The Kuwaiti national had pleaded innocent when his trial opened in April, claiming he went to Afghanistan for charity work in 2000, before the US-led war on terror began in that country. Ah, yes. The "charity" work. |
