Train bombing kills six in Turkey |
2005-07-03 |
Six people have been killed when a train was bombed in the mainly Kurdish region of eastern Turkey yesterday. A second train bringing help was also bombed about one kilometre from where the initial bomb went off. Twelve people were injured by the first remote-controlled bomb, which went off mid-morning in Bingol province, the Anatolia news agency reported. The attacks were blamed on the rebel Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) who are active in the region, which has seen a sharp spike in attacks in the last few months. At the same time, the Turkish army defused another bomb found on the railway line near the first explosion and was searching the area for any more explosives, Anatolia reported. |
