Explosion rocks Trinidad capital
2005-07-12
Two people remain in critical condition after an explosion in the capital of the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago, officials say. National Security Minister Martin Joseph said a total of 13 people had been injured in central Port of Spain. Officials say the blast just after 1400 local time (1800 GMT) was caused by an explosive device hidden in a rubbish bin a few blocks from parliament. But they say it is not clear what kind of device was used, nor who placed it. The blast occurred on the corner of Frederick and Queen streets - the capital's major crossroads. The city's business district was evacuated after the explosion and the area was combed for bombs, the police said. "We have no idea of the kind of device used nor who is behind it," Deputy Police Commissioner Glen Roach told the Associated Press news agency. Local media reported that a man was seen putting a parcel in the dustbin shortly before the explosion took place.

#2  Someone keep an eye on Hugo Chavez. Trinidad & Tobago have oil reserves almost as large as Venezuela. I'm sure Hugo would like to "take over" that "tiny piece of British trash". I hope the Trinidadian police think the same thing I do. We need to recommission a couple of dozen old B-52D models, and get them ready for some carpet bombing. Blow a path through Cuba, and take out most of Caracas.
