3 terrorists killed in ‘crossfire’ in Kushtia
July 11: One suspected leader of an outlawed party and two other "terrorists" were killed in a shootout with police at Hashimpur Betbaria village in Kumarkhali upazila early today. One sub-inspector of police and two constables were also injured during the late-night gunfight. The deceased were identified as Mohammad Ali, 35, said to be second-in-command in Tikka Bahini of Gono Mukti Fouz, Yusuf Ali, 25, and Adil, 25.
Gono Mukti Fouz would be an excellent name for a rock band.
Police said they arrested the three "terrorists" from Baksey Satpakhia village along with two firearms and 46 bullets on Sunday evening.
"Evening boys. Say, those guns look real heavy. Why don't we help you carry them down to the station where we can have a little talk"
During interrogation, they gave information about their arms and associates.
Our scene now shifts to Betbaria village at 2am. It's a dark and stormy night, when suddenly..
When police reached the spot along with the terrors,
....a shot rang out!
their associates opened fire, forcing the law-enforcers to fire back.
"It's the Cohorts of Gono Mukti Fouz! Have at um, boys!"
The gunfight lasted about an hour.
More or less. Mostly less..
"As the terrorists tried to escape during the encounter,
"Feet don't fail me now!"
they got caught in the crossfire and died on the spot," says a spot account of the shootout given by the cops in operation.
"Yup, they got shot on this spot, right behind the ear... er, I mean right behind the gas station"
They were taken to Kumarkhali Health Complex where the doctors declared them dead at about 3:30am.
"They're dead, Jim"
The police recovered 30 bullets from the spot. Police said Mohammad Ali was wanted in four murder cases and Adil and Yusuf each in three cases of killing.

Supporter of PCJSS chopped to death
RANGAMATI, July-11:–A supporter of pro-peace treaty Parbattya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity(PCJSS) was chopped to death after abduction and another was kidnapped by anti-peace treaty gunmen from the Islampur Ashrayan Prakalpa in Thaillya Chhari area in Naniachar Upazila of the district in the early hours today.
Being a pro-peace guy seems to get you a lot of enemies here as well as Somalia
Locals and security sources said that at around 12.30 am a group of anti-peace deal United People’s Democratic Front(UPDF) activists equipped with arms raided at Islampur Ashrayan Prakalpa of Thaillya Chhari and founding PCJSS activists and supporters. At one stage, the gunmen of UPDF forcibly picked two supporters of PCJSS up at gunpoint. But the gunmen killed Samirom Chakma(30) son of late Chirajib Chakma by chopping him with sharp weapons on their way and they escaped leaving the death body of Samiron in full of blood.
So now he's late as well.
Another abducted person was identified as Chironjib Chakma (28). Getting information the military personnel from Naniachar Upazila Zone rushed to the scene and recovered the body of Samiron. Later army men handed the body over to Naniachar Thana police.
Security men also recovered two rounds of live bullets and one husk of point 22 bore rifle from the place of occurrence.
"husk"? I'll take a wild guess and say they mean a expended shell casing.
Naniachar police sent the body to Rangamati General Hospital for postmortem today(Monday).
"He's been hacked to pieces. Isn't that enough of a cause of death for you?"
A case was filed with Naniachar Thana in this connection.

Police beats businessman to death in Gazipur
Local people attacked the police post at Shreepur in Gazipur after the police had beaten a businessman to death on Monday. The people also damaged a number of motor vehicles and put barricade on the Dhaka-Mymensing Highway, suspending the traffic for two hours. The deceased was identified as Hamidul Islam, 40.
Local people said a team of plainclothes police led by sub-inspector Delowar Hossain and Alim Uddin raided the house of one Alauddin and arrested four people, when they were playing cards at around 2:45pm.
"Howdy, boys. You got room at the table for more?"
The police released one person out of the four after taking bribe from him and took Hamidul Islam, Jalal Uddin and Dulal Uddin to the Maona police post.
"OK, you can go. Youse three guys are coming with us"
The police tortured them as they failed to fulfill their demand. Hamidul was critically injured and was taken to local Al-Hera Clinic, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
"He's dead, Jim"

Hearing the news, the local people brought out a procession and attacked the Maona police post, hurled brickbats on the police, put barricade on the Dhaka-Mymensing Highway and damaged a number of vehicles.
Ah, an old-fashioned brickbat hurling, haven't seen one of those since the last Teamsters convention.
Extra police were deployed in the area. Local leaders and the police high officials visited the spot and primarily closed the two sub-inspectors. The Shreepur police station duty-officer told New Age, ‘Angry people did not attack the police post and Hamidul died when he tried to escape arrest."

#2  In these tales you've always gotta have a guy with just one name. Like those atrocious Andy Warhol movies back in the 70's.

#1  I have a sneaking suspicion that the "Kumarkhali Health Complex" is neither healthy nor complex.

I love the Crossfire Gazette - keep up the good work!
