A tribal elder, who had helped the Pakistan Army hunt militants, was shot and wounded in South Waziristan, sources said on Tuesday. They added that some tribal elders did not turn up at a Jirga because of security concerns. Makeen Peace Committee president Ahmed Shah Mehsud was fired upon when he left home for a nearby market at 8:00am. "Unidentified gunmen in a car shot him," a government official told Daily Times, asking not to be named. "It is not clear how serious the wounds are," he added. Mehsud was admitted to a local hospital. |
