US to buy ammo from the Jooooooooooos |
2005-08-25 |
Hat tip: Anti-idiotarian Rottweiler. As he noted, all we need to do now is dip them in pig fat. Israel Military Industries won a tender Tuesday for around $300 million to supply the U.S. army with ammunition. IMI said this is their biggest ammunition deal with the U.S. army to date. IMI will supply light ammunition for rifles and machine guns, which will be produced in its 'Yitzhak' factory in Upper Nazareth. The deal will double the factory's scope of activity. It currently employs 350 workers, and has a revenue today of over $60 million a year. The Yitzhak factory produces light ammunition principally for American forces operating in Iraq, the Israel Defense Forces, the police and the Israeli defense establishment, as well as various western European clients. That last is a bit of a surprise. So, they won't sell arms to Israel, but will buy from them? IMI Chairman Ovadia Eli said the success is a significant achievement for the company and represents an important stage in its growth, and that is likely enable it to win additional international tenders. According to Eli, the deal establishes the standing of IMI as an essential supplier for the U.S. army. |

#14 Shipman, I have a Whitworth Rifle. It's .451 calibre and fires a 470 grain bullet accuretly to a little over 1000 yards. I wish I had a Whitworth cannon. It fires a 12 pound projectile 10,000 yards. |

#10 I've long suspected the US military bullet industry has been taken over by a very elite group of profiteers, figuring that there will always be a demand, so they can set ridiculous prices. And, as long as they owned a couple of senators, they could probably get away with it. |

#8 The pig fat thing is a historical reference to the Sepoy rebellion in India that was set off by rumors the British were greasing their rifle cartriges with pig's fat. Pig's blood would just gunk up the bore, I'm guessing. |

#7 damn_ I suppose this means we can't get the ammo dipped in pigs blood, huh? |

#1 Actually, it's free because the US gives Israel $10 billion in aid every year. Who says pro forma accounting was a thing of the past. Jackal, BTW, it's "dip in pig blood" not fat. Dip them and make it VERY VERY publicly known to the border crossing jihadi's. |
