The Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) said on Monday that it would not participate in the next general elections if General Pervez Musharraf continued as president and army chief. MMA President Qazi Hussain Ahmed said this after a meeting of the MMA parliamentary party. Qazi was responding to a question about what the MMA's policy would be now that the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) had claimed that it would boycott the general elections if held under Musharraf's rule.| I still haven't seen anything in the Western press about the fact that the MMA got waxed in the local elections. Boycotting the elections is a pretty good indication that they expect to lose next time, too. |
