RIYADH - Saudi women will run in elections to the board of the Jeddah chamber of commerce and industry in a first for the kingdom, officials said on Wednesday.The chamber was notified on Tuesday of a decision by Trade and Industry Minister Hashem Yamani to reschedule the board elections, which had been due at the end of September. The decision to reopen the door to candidacies, for two weeks starting next Saturday, will allow women to come forward, legal adviser Mustafa Sabri told AFP.
The chamber’s 40,000 members include some 3,000 women, Sabri said.
