#5 Hmmm, a big counter-insurgency op in a town about 8 miles from the Syrian border. Gosh, I hope the border is well marked because it would be, like, a real shame and stuff, if someone were to, like, accidentally wander over chasing after bad guys. Actually, I see this as a likely scenario: Coalition forces acting on intel, either tips or JSTARS, head across the border and engage bad guys. Syrian forces become involved to 'protect the homeland against invading Crusader armies'. Junior Assad wets himself. The Americans do that "kill people and blow up their stuff" thing they do so well and the Iraqi forces get some needed practice. If there were a Rantburg futures market, I'd be placing bets. |
