BANGKOK â Thailand has ruled out any form of autonomy for its Muslim-majority south and said there was no evidence that foreign groups linked to Al Qaeda were involved in the regionâs unrest.
In an interview with AFP, Foreign Minister Kantathi Suphamongkhon rejected an appeal for self-rule. âWeâre not a federal system. Autonomy in that sense is something that is not part of our system,â he said. âItâs a unified system that we have. We donât have the concept of autonomy within our constitution,â Kantathi said. |
