| 1,100 of Saddam's Lawyers (really!) Quit His Defense Team |

| AMMAN, Jordan — Some 1,100 Iraqi lawyers have withdrawn from Saddam Hussein's defense team, citing insufficient protection following the slayings of two peers representing co-defendants of the ousted Iraqi leader. In a statement obtained Sunday, the lawyers did not say whether Saddam's chief Iraqi attorney, Khalil al-Dulaimi, was among those who withdrew. But the statement said other members of the team in Baghdad were continuing their duties "under complex and dangerous circumstances." |

| #4 1100 lawyers? Holy Schitskis! How many did IBM have during their antitrust suit by the Feds, or Microsoft? That size of law effort is, I hope, not the model that the new Iraq will take to its own, otherwise they will be just like us (the US). |

| #3 As I recall, the 1100 have been working on Saddam Hussein's case since his arrest was announced. Although under which law they theought to defend him is beyond me (which is one of many reasons I'm not a lawyer. ;->) |
