Sources: Plame Learned Covert Status from Woodward
2005-11-16
(2005-11-16) — Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald, who secured grand jury indictments against a top Bush administration official last month, today announced he may be close to discovering who told Valerie Plame that she was an undercover CIA agent.

Mr. Fitzgerald refused to release any names, but sources close to the probe said evidence indicates that the Washington Post’s Bob Woodward may have revealed Ms. Plame’s covert status to her.

The prosecutor declined to comment on Mr. Woodward’s possible connection to the case, instead he focused on Ms. Plame’s apparent ignorance of her role at the Central Intelligence Agency.

“In the months, and even years, leading up to July 2003, Valerie Plame was not behaving like someone who knew she was a covert agent,” said Mr. Fitzgerald. “The woman friends knew as Mrs. Joe Wilson seems to have learned of her undercover status at about the same time a reference to her appeared in Robert Novak’s syndicated column.”

The prosecutor said it may be a violation of federal law to reveal a CIA agent’s covert status to the agent.

“We’re looking at what’s called ‘deep deep cover’ in the intel community,” Mr. Fitzgerald said. “In other words, the CIA unwittingly may have been using Mrs. Wilson as an undercover agent without her knowledge, or the knowledge of anyone else at the Agency.”

Meanwhile, as former vice presidential chief of staff I. Lewis ‘Scooter’ Libby awaits trial on five counts of hindering the CIA leak probe, Mr. Novak and Mr. Woodward remain at large.

I hope the Bush and crew go full alt I think just like the LLL's are always screamin for "investigation" "charges" "trial" for every little thing I beleive it is way past time for the Bush team to counter with the same. I want to see "sedition trials"(these would be those who openly attempt to subvert our war effort LLL's "Intellegence Leak trials"(these would be on Rockefellar giving Syria pre-Iraq-invasion heads up hes on the freekin intellegence committee not to mention his leak of a spy sat earlier all are leaks at best outright TREASON at worst, how about Berger getting the book up side his head for his stealing confidential documents that were realevant to the situation we find ourselves in today Hmmmm) It is time to go on the offensive heads need roll or at least the impression made that such will not be tollerated that we are not the paper tiger but the Barbarians stories like this at Aljiz

Stories like this are A+ moral boosters for AQ. We need to make the impression that it aint goinin to happen. Even when Bush goes at the end of his term the next guy is going to be full alt offensive aswell until VICTORY is acheived nothing less. Stories like these of no end to US offensive until victory will rip what is left out of the AQ heart. Every moron knows AQ cant face the US straight up or even proven now in a insurgency war in thier home turf, when the only chance of victory they have left is proven dead (the exit of Bush and the loss of morale and heart or will to fight with a mere retreat with no thouht of even repeating the Iraq style operation or even declaring victory and going back to the Clinton fog were we just ignored the rising threat until it cost us 3000 civilians). Bush shaming the LLL's and going offensive even making examples of some of the worst by procecution will get Bush screams of Nazi/faciast but it will give our enemy the undeniable fact that thier last hope just died.
